Just a suggestion, but when raising the sails, one should raise the main first, then the jib. When lowering, take down the jib first, then the main.

I just purchased a 1984 Compac 19 as my first sailboat and this was helpful. I haven't taken it out yet, it's on the trailer where I'm going to practice raising the mast and rigging. You mentioned the owner's manual. I've been scouring the internet looking for one to no avail. Is yours in digital format? I would love a copy.

American gas has ethanol added which is hygroscopic, it attracts water ,that's why you should never leave gas in the outboard motor.
