MICRO JIGS - They are the shore fisherman's anti skunk device - if you haven't used them yet, I suggest you should. Micro jigs are small and heavy, giving you great casting range - most micro jigs these days are also quite easy to use. There are even some you just cast and reel slowly and work close to the bottom and catch even when the times are tough.
The biggest issue with micro jigs is the hardware - at least for how they are used here in the UAE. However, with their potential to catch bigger fish, it is advisable to upgrade the hooks. Given that you will be fishing with light line, upgrading the hooks are enough to at least give you a fighting chance to catch the bigger fish that bite. If you start using heavier line, don't forget to upgrade the split ring to thicker wired ones as well.
Often the biggest problem when upgrading is finding the right sized assist hooks - most tackle shops will only carry the ready made jigs but not the replacement hooks - Trebles are a bit easier to find, it is the assist hook that is difficult. I show some alternative hooks you can use when you make your own as well as a guide to trebles to increase your hook up rate.

Just a question. VMC 7122 are pretty easy to find here in EU. They can be used to build up any assist? Fast jigging, slow jigging? Or is something that just suit some specific technique? It's something that you may suggest for a beginner start building their assist? I've used small ptfe hook barbless for feeder and I love them but not sure if 7122 may cover all the jigging needs.

The 7122 is a chinu hook, if you have the dark colored ones, they are good, but for light tackle - they cant be used for bigger fish - they ate mostly used for snapper balls and very light jigs (around 20g +\-) i wouldnt use them on anything over 30g slow or fast jigs

Nice video , micro jigs can be used even at very deep sea example 150 to 200 m.? And at high current? At bottom of the jig which is best to use single assist, double assist or triple hooks? Thanks for your informative videos.

micro jigs are for shallow water. for slow jigging, you put double or single. Trebles are seldom used, but there are places and types of fish you use trebles or quads at the back.

Great and helpful video as usual thanks I have a question about the PTFE hooks, Does it really not last and damaged quickly from abrasion compared to normal hook?

the PTFE coating doesn't last. The silver or ti/tin coating lasts longer, stainless lasts the longest.

Will changing the stock hook that came with jigpara micro standard 10g to more robust hook, kill the action of the jig? Also, how many lbs is the mainline that you use for jig para micro jig 10g? How is that a tiny jig can attract big fish? Isn't that big fish eat big lure?

The ones we get here in Barracuda fishing shop are all upgraded with stringer assist hooks and treble hooks. I Use PE 0.6. It is matching rhe predominant baitfish size. Also, elephants eat peanuts.

I’m looking to start using jigs shore fishing. Problem is I fish on reefs would a treble hook easily get stuck on coral/ rock? What would you recommend or will a treble hook be fine?

Treble hooks will snag more than assist hooks

Hello, im just getting into micro jigging and where I am they only allow 2 hooks max. What do you think of having 2 singles for a micro jig. 1 on each end, is that effective or is having a twin assist the way to go. I mostly fish from a boat. Love the channel, thank you.

Hello. What diameter PE do you fish 10gr jigs with ? Do you upsize the split rings as well as the hooks for bigger fish ? Thanx. Appreciate the videos.

I basically use 0.4-0.8. I don't go past 0.8 for 10g. depends on what fish I am fishing for. rings and hooks need to be upgraded....you are not fishing for the intended specie (aji) anymore, so you need to upgrade all that can be upgraded. (upgrade in strength not size)

It's difficult to do that when I don't know what's available there. If I say, CBONE, Little Jack and Cultiva and you can't get their jigs locally, or available but are not cost effective, then it's going to put you in a difficult situation right?
