Hi. One question. Why does the Rapala XRAP longcast 14cm and Magnum cast have different swimming actions? it feels like that the long cast has more better wiggling actions.

Awesome explanation. I needed a video to explain a way to use a single strand knot to tied assist hooks. Moat videos they do a palamor on the hook, the kevlar I bought was too big to fit through the hook eye. Perfect find

The knob is an AE85EX cork/silver, and the handle shaft is the 11098 - this reel is factory customized for me, but you can buy the parts separately and put it together yourself

I use a coffee micro whisk as a dubbing spinner. It works verry well to make tight strong brushes.

I used to do that too Bo, I didn't like charging or throwing batteries but that works so well! 🤣super fast too and the thing is so cheap. Just bend the wire to form a hook and off you go 😁

I'M STILL TRYING TO WRAP MY HEAD AROUND THIS CONTRAPTION AND WHY PEOLE USE IT. YES IT KEEPS THE FISH STEADY SO IT WON'T MOVE BUT YOU LOSE THE SPUTNIK, WHICH STAYS IN THE OCEAN IN ORDER TO CATCH THE FISH. WHY NOT JUST PLACE A GOOD SIZE SINKER, A LEADER AND THEN HOOK IT TO A LIVE FISH. SIMPLE AS THAT
@TheFishingKit8 күн бұрын
You have the wrong impression of what this is. This is a non return slide buckle. Slide buckles enables you to cast your sinker first (which goes further because it does not have the drag of the bait). After the cast and positioning of the sinker, you can then slide the bait down using this device. In Hawaii, where these were first used, they fished off cliffs that have a steep angle so they can slide the bait down using a simple weighted slide buckle...but that type slides back and forth...while this one in the video slides in only one direction - forward. One way slides such as this on the video can be used from the surf.

@@TheFishingKit I BOUGHT TWO 7 OZ ON AMAZON FOR 8 BUKS. THEY WERE HAVING A DEAL. IM GOING TO USE IT FOR SURF FISHING BUT I WONT SLIDE BAIT. ILL ATTACH THIS SINKER TO BRAIDED LINE. ILL ABOUT 8 FEET UP THE LINE. ILL TIE MONOFILIMANT OF 50LBS ABOUT 2 FOOT LONG WITH LIVE BAIT AT THE HOOK AND THATS BETTER THAN SLIDING BAIT CONTRAPTION

@@leelunk8235 Lee, it is always easy to say one thing is better than another if you don't know how things work. A few centuries ago, people thought the boat was the ultimate vehicle for long distance travel - These days, we don't even have that kind of thinking even as an afterthought. If you think you can outcast a naked sinker with your setup, physics begs to differ. It's ok if you don't use this...only means you aren't the target market for this sort of thing :)

@@TheFishingKit ITS A WEIGHT SINKER WITH LEGS. YOU ACT LIKE YOU DISCOVERED THE END ALL BE ALL. PEOPLE HAVE USED THEM IN ALL SORTS OF WAYS. EVEN AS A WEAPON HAHA
@TheFishingKit7 күн бұрын
What are you on about? All I am saying is you can cast a sinker without bait farther than you can than with bait. then you use the slide to send your bait to your sinker. If you want to see for yourself, cast a base sinker without bait and then with bait and see which one goes farther - don't take my word for it. Like I said, if you don't see the value of this device, YOU are not part of the people the video was made for...so what's wrong? You want to argue for what?

@mffishingmadeira10 күн бұрын
Hi mate, is there any particular reason why you spool your reel with that much line? And why use the X4 instead the x8? Thanks 😁
@TheFishingKit10 күн бұрын
The more line your reel has, the faster it is. so when a particular reel says it has a gear ratio of 6:1 and it takes in say 70cm of line per crank, that is measured on a full spool. If you watch my other videos when I discuss lines etc - you will find a full explanation. But in a nutshell, 4x is more sensitive than 8x and if you look deeper, a lot of very experienced japanese jiggers use 4x, not 8x.

That’s exactly how I fill my reels too. Easier if you have another reel, or spare spool, that is exactly the same and just reverse fill the original one and use a line counter to know how much backing you need.
@TheFishingKit11 күн бұрын
No need for a line counter, why would you need it when you can just see and decide on how much backing you need to fill it up the way you want it. the most important thing there for me is that I know that I have 500m of line before I see my backing. counting how much backing I have isn't really important because 99% of the time, I wont see it.

You can sometimes find Zephyr's running promos for less than a black max, while not great its still gonna preform slightly better as a entry level reel for people new to BFS. Long run though your probably gonna want something much higher end.

This video was made when you didn't have a lot of options...a lot of people didn't even know what BFS was...now, there are so many experts. :) that being said...I would still choose an abu over a kastking.

I'm mostly jigging horizontally, using spinning gear with slower one pitch jerks and ocacional falls while my boat free drifting. Is this jig suitable for this kind of use? Target fishes ~5-10kg bottom fishes by the way.
@TheFishingKit12 күн бұрын
Slow jigging is not for spinning gear - so you can rule out slow jigs (which is this in the video) You can use it but its not going to work 100%. Jigs you could use would be the likes of the Hots Drift Tune, Sea Falcon Cutlass, majorcraft metal dragon to name a few.
@kanaatbilen11 күн бұрын
Thank you very much for your answer and advice. Cutlass jig is available in my country, I will definitely try it. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I understand you recommend center-balanced, asymmetrical jigs. Would you recommend Sea falcon dead bait metal or gekito level jigs for similar applications?
@TheFishingKit11 күн бұрын
@@kanaatbilen asymmetrical fast jigs can flutter really well thats why. you mentioned "occasional falls". Gekito Level, no, not unless they are holding shallower as they were designed as shore jigs more than offshore jigs. The SF dead bait is ok, but would not be my top choice, and would rather use a majorcraft vertical long.
