Just a quick breakdown on how I typically rig my 2 favorite lures when targeting fish offshore whether it is yellowtail on the beach or bluefin foaming offshore to everything else in between.

Ha! Actually you just cast them out and your ON! Love the vid at the end! Have you fished them with singles on front and back? I was testing that last year and couldn’t get it to swim without the treble on the back….

Yea so you reminded me to add the videos to the end that you can click on lol. I totally forgot (and that clip at the end is horrendously over exposed oops)... The singles work great. I kinda tend to lean towards the trebles more because I have been in foamers when they bite it with singles and the rod loads up but it just falls off immediately where as with the trebles its a little sticky'er. The only problem is you run the risk of pulling hooks where with the singles if its stuck, its probably not coming off lol.

effin love it! Picked up a Shimano Orca, that thing is a bit bigger than I anticipated, but the weight feels like it'll cast out a bit further. 👍

I get frustrated with fouling the hooks on the line. I’m gonna try the single hooks 👍

U know we love these kinds of videos! So these are your go to for foaming bluefin, but do you think these are more effective than surface irons for boiling yellowtail? Have you personally caught more yellowtail on these lures or irons?
@BryanTimm2 жыл бұрын
Yup. I guess it depends on how the yellowtail are reacting but I’ve had days where it was almost instant on the jerkbaits and if fishing a surface iron it took quite a few casts to have them finally eat it. I kick myself for not turning around to grab the gopro’s when j left them in my car haha. Again, just good to always have it in the box.

Since you’ve had so much success with these two baits, I feel reluctant to ask if you’ve tried something like the Daiwa sp minnow or nomad riptides for foamer fishing… Sp minnows are cheaper than coltsnipers (I think) but need to be upgraded and riptides come stock with high quality hooks and rings but are pretty pricey. Anyways, love these little tackle vids, keep it up man 🤙🏽

Yea. I feel like these baits just cast better since they have the weight transfer systems in them. The nomad riptide is good if you buy the long cast version that sinks (i think it’s the 105), the other versions just really dont swim all that well (in my opinion) unless you point your rod up and skip it on the surface or something.

Ive tried to scale back my tackle and only bring what i have confidence in and my buddies and I have always caught with these so i’m extremely confident in them.

Have you been able to get any of these local springtime yellows yet?

Any particular reason you prefer the lipped colt-snipers vs the un-lipped colt-snipers?

Better action in my opinion.

Are the trebles the original stock hooks or did you replace them with treble 1/0 hooks too? Thank You
@BryanTimm Жыл бұрын
I keep the stock trebles on the yozuri baits. On the shimano i replace them with 1/0 owner 4x

Ever used a diawa sp minnow ?

Do you utilize a leader with these and if so what #test?
@BryanTimm2 жыл бұрын
Yessir. Depends on the grade of fish. Anything over 80lbs we tend to just crimp 130lb straight to it (can bring some split ring pliers to quickly change between baits). If you’re seeing anything under that grade and you are fishing bluefin foam just stick to 60-80lb leader - if its YT go with 40 or 50.

What happens to sp minnow?

I find these 2 cast further and easier on jig sticks or heavy casting gear.
