hehe its so weird, I have lived here in Germany now for 4 years and still cannot get used to right before left when driving. I mean I did 40 years or so with side roads waiting for main roads to pass and finding a gap in traffic to get out, its hard to lose that and get used to this right before left lark lol It is the same with Pedestrians crossing when traffic lights are green! I mean a green man and green traffic lights is something that would never have happened in my 40 years driving elsewhere, now it does in Germany, its so strange. Dirving down roads, braking at every single side road is still hard to get used to. Its fun driving here though lol

This rule also applies in the Nederlands and in my opinion is extremely dangerous has caused many accidents and fatalities. There is a simple answer put a give way sign either on the road or a give way sign board so drivers don’t have to think too hard about the right of way. Drivers should always give way to traffic from the left in Europe and the right in the UK imagine you are driving down the road let’s say at night in the rain and you are not familiar with the area and all of a sudden the car pulls out in front of you trust me this happens bang or something worse, this scenario would be eliminated if the above were applied give way signs. Clear communication with the Driver.

Why does this rule exist though? And does it only apply to Germany?
@FranziskaNagel4452 жыл бұрын
It is safer to have a consistent rule who has priority if nothing else is defined than placing stop or yield signs everywhere. So those signs are only where they matter and communicate a need to be extra careful. Right before left is everywhere in Europe. (GB is left before right) and I believe the rule is also valid everywhere where the Vienna Convention on road signs apply.

@@FranziskaNagel445 Nope sorry but in the United Kingdom(GB) You keep left and give way (Priority) to traffic on the main road e.g oncoming traffic which provided you are travelling in the right direction on the correct side of the road will be approaching from the Right (Rules 170-183 Highway code) in addtion to traffic approaching from the right at roundabouts(Rule 185 Highway Code) whic also has priority , there is no Left Before Right rule in the UK ,nearly 99% of the roads in the UK have road markings designating a junction to avoid the confusion of " rules" such as Rechts vor Links., and cyclists as a rule aren't supposed to ride in the opposite direction to the flow of traffic on a one way street unless there is a designated cycle lane with arrows indicating that they can.😉.

So when a lane of traffic going 45 mph is flowing and I'm waiting to pull out, they are supposed to see me and come to a stop and risk rear end Collisions and Impead all the traffic behind them instead of me just waiting a few seconds til its clear to enter the traveling lane ?? Makes no sense to me
