In clips uncovered by The Serfs from 2011, Matt Walsh, stuns his then-radio show co-host Andrew "Crank" Murr, during a discussion about how, according to Walsh, you can't separate race and culture, so therefore Mexicans and other minorities can't ever truly be Americans or be white.

Matt Walsh isn't even Anglo-Saxon. He has black hair and, for good measure, it's right there in his name: Walsh. Which is literally the Anglo-Saxon word for "not an Anglo-Saxon". See, immigration and the mixing of cultures is good, as Matt Walsh admits by now pretending to be Anglo-Saxon.

According to my daughter who has a PhD in social work with her master's in child warfare policy and administration the more educated a person becomes the less children they have. She has stated this is true for all groups of people. There was a time when it was advantageous to have large families. Life expectancy was low and many children died young. Maybe you had a large farm or other family business. Many of those early reasons are no longer valid so the idea of having kids just to fill up a country with more of "Us" to counter more of " Them" is ridiculous to me.

No, he draws a distinction that I also make. Culturally, I think Europe/US/Canada are divided in 3: there's my side (the East, the wrong side of the Iron Curtain), there's the West and then there's the Anglo-Saxon side which is NOT the same as the West of Europe. He uses the term Western Anglo-Saxon, but he does mean by it, that culturally, Germans, French, Spanish people, etc. are quite different from the US or the UK. Geography determined a lot of this, but there's a difference. I mean, I agree with his division here. I think for example, Brexit is a clear example of this divide between Anglo-Saxons and the rest of Europe, including Western Europe. It shows a different mindset and different priorities compared even to other geographically Western countries.

"A way of life, a culture, a philosophy" what does any of that have to do with the social construct of race? Walsh needs to essentialize people by their skin color or place of birth because he knows people all essentially want the same things in life, different cultures can easily live side by side, and philosophy or values are taught or adopted. None of that is as easy as "they foreign and brown, that means they could never be Americans (white)".

Correct. Everything you just said explains why Matt’s statement is not racist. Mexican is a place of origin, “Hispanic” would be race. The conversation taking place is about culture. The left seems unable to disconnect race with culture but the right sees a country as individual cultures without race. And to answer your question the reason those 3 things lead to social construction is because culture dictates philosophy, as philosophy dictates the way you live. The more these things breakdown, the more society breaks down.

I'd wondered about that point Emma made toward the end about conservative parents being so concerned about their lineage and such. I imagine this crops up quite a bit in in vitro fertilization discussions and surrogacy issues. It's a completely foreign concept to me, to care about the genetic makeup of my progeny, the most I can manage is caring about their physical and political environment. It's clearly tied to a specific worldview, and it feels like it absolutely must come from some conservative conception.

Matt Walsh wants concentration camps for pretty much any minority group. He was being so racist that his co-host was arguing with him. The co-host seems fine with immigrants as long as they leave their culture behind and conform to some vague idea of "American Values" that doesn't exist. That's absolutely racist but even he thought Matt Walsh was going too far. Matt Walsh wants concentration camps for people like me. I'm bisexual, non practicing but by blood I'm Jewish, and I'm genderfluid. I will be one of the first to go and I'm not going to stand back and let that happen. We need intersectionality, we can see how the unions in LA and across the country are powerful when they go on strike. We see how the other unions that aren't connected, like the teamsters, will not cross a picket line. Strength comes from cooperation. Why can't all minorities join together? Huey P Newton, the founder of the Black Panthers, gave a speech in the 70s about how civil rights for black people are intrinsically connected to rights for women and LGBT people. He points out that there are black women and gay black people so fighting for the rights of all black people means fighting for the rights of those other groups. Yet we still have a ton of trouble with intersectionality. It's really sad because if all the various movements came together to support each other we could make actual change.

You think, French, German, Dutch, African, and Native American culture is not part and parcel of the " white" American culture? When Americans think of music isn't it the music of and influenced by African Americans they think of, Food? Isn't American food a product of German, African African American, Native American, and Italian food traditions? our electoral system isn't Dutch? our government is built on Roman and Greek traditions? I mean come on man.

@@aliamjon2550 Look brah, only 17 of 152 Founding Fathers were of Anglo-Saxon stock. Thomas Jefferson, the writer of the Declaration was not an anglo saxon, He was a Scot, Adams was of Dutch ancestry and Monroe was of French ancestry. Many of our founding fathers were, of German, Dutch, and French descent, one was of Native American and French ancestry. No everybody did not contribute to the American musical art form. Its primary contributors are African Americans, Jews, and the Irish. With African Americans being its major and most consistent influence across all the genres. Our food culture is decidedly not Anglo-Saxon ( thank God) our literary culture is Celtic thanks to the Irish, Jews invented our Movie and TV culture and it grows out of their Vaudeville venues of mixing comedy and melodrama, with music and dancing, Our Dance culture is decidedly African. Our Government draws its electoral process from the Dutch and the Germans, and its structure from the Greek and Roman republics. England today still is not a republic, and our system of mixing common law with statutes and legal precedents comes not from England but from Normandy France, we call it English common law because it was imposed on England by the French when William the Conqueror invaded England. Not only that, but, according to the Us census, only 7.1% of the total population is of anglo Saxon ancestry. In fact, more African Americans are of Anglo-Saxon ancestry than white Americans. The American culture is a creolized culture. It is now and it always has been. Next time you order Pizza, or grill some corn, or BBQ ( which is from the mixing of Native American and African cultures) Or put some Katsup ( which is from China) on your hot dog ( which is German) remember that. Study actual history not that pragerU bull they sell in the Desantis school system. I doubt a man with the last name Walsh is an Anglo Saxon and in all likelihood neither are you
