Will you be upgrading to the Ring Alarm Pro?
@VideoNOLA

Am aging out an old Vista panel-based home security system, which I'd just got done ROM upgrading and adding a new keypad to, after learning that VOIP phone lines are *not* appropriate for reporting. (Ooma likes to drop dial tone occasionally. Plus, ADT admitted that they silently dropped our cheap monitoring account several years ago, because they are money-grubbing a-holes.) So it's down to Ring Pro vs. QolSys touch panel with wireless zones vs. SimpliSafe self-install. Seems you pay regardless; either a ton up front for equipment, with cheap monthly service fees, or "free" equipment ties to onerous long-term contracts at 2-3x the billing rate. All to get a homeowners insurance discount? Almost cheaper to get burglarized every 5 years and call it a day.

Hey Gabe always enjoy your videos and just finished watching the one ring alarm pro but have a question. Ring says that if you purchase the alarm pro you can use it like the first generation base station without using erro. So if that is true is it worth to upgrade to the pro and if so what would be the benefits. Thanks for your help

This video is very helpful. I recently cancelled ADT and was about to purchase the Ring Pro. I have about 65 devices on my Orbi Mesh system and there is no way I can use Alarm Pro as a router. I have a smart home and it's about 8500 sq ft. Orbi Mesh works great and meets our wifi needs.

Did you pull the trigger with Ring Pro? If so, how did you deploy the eero as part of your home network? I could see moving all Ring devices over to it, solely to preserve bandwidth on your primary mesh.

Just saw your video. Have talked with Ring and Eero. They say all is good. I currently have an Eero 6 router with 4 extenders, because I have many devices, large two story house on just over half an acre with two back workshops. All is working just fine now. Want to replace the Eero with the ring alarm pro, and need to make sure it will fit in without glitches. You threw some red flags about having many devices through the alarm pro? To give you a breakdown, have myQ for five garage doors, insteon hub which manages around 25 smart switches, several blink devices, and around eight ring devices. Planning to add more? What is your opinion as to going to the alarm pro? I am already grandfathered in at 100 per year for pro monitoring that I am not using. For the next two years I will not need to pay more or upgrade to use what I am already paying for. Can I use the already existing Eero extenders with the alarm pro? Ring says yes? You mention creating a separate group for the alarm pro?

Great video. Question. I just got fiber thru AT&T with speeds of 500mbs+. Will the addition of the eero cause any degradation in speed? (Smart TV with streaming, a few of laptops and phones, 4 Ring cameras, and a dozen or so smart lights and outlets currently in use. No gaming).

it wouldn't be an addition, it has to replace your current router to get all of the protection and benefits of the pro subscription. The alarm pro supports 900mbps internet speeds. I actually have a mesh Eero pro 6 setup with 3 nodes/routers, and I replaced my main gateway Eero pro 6 with this alarm pro and it swapped out seamlessly!

How does the WiFi stack up while running fire sticks, gaming system and a couple phones. Along with a few cameras and Alexa devices? I’m on the fence between the ring alarm pro and simplisafe.
@SecurityDotOrg
@SecurityDotOrg 2 жыл бұрын
How your WIFI stacks up is something only you can determine, but if you think your modem will have trouble with so many devices, WIFI extenders can increase your device load, by 10 or more depending on the brand.

would it be possible to attach the Eero to your ring alarm pro? I have the 2nd get which I the same except for the base with the built in router. Since I already have a router I don't need this. You should also get one of the Ring compatible smart locks so you can have the system arm when you lock your front door and disarm when you unlock. There will be an additional tile on the dashboard page which you can tap to lock or unlock and quickly see whether your front door is locked or unlocked.

I am testing RING stick up camera's at the moment and and having constant problems with the App. 1. The notifications are extremely buggy. They work they don't (I learned that you have to turn the notifications OFF and On again to make them work again. I had to do this everyday?) 2. The Live view constantly doesn't work and then it does work an hour later. It says the connection is bad when this is plainly not true? Is anyone else having these problems? I thought I was going to invest in more camera's but that doesn't look hopeful at this stage?

Awesome review! I'm new to Ring and am shopping for a system. While this sounds like a good idea, my only concern is what happens down the road when the router goes out (dies)? Will Ring replace it through their warranty if you have their pro subscription? Being reliant on their router as your network sounds risky. I would rather keep my router and home alarm separate so I can easily go out to the store and replace the router if needed.

Before I upgraded to the Ring Pro I was using a robust Asus WiFi6 router. So, the Ring Pro is intended to be plugged into your modem 1st! OK! Since the Pro has (2) CAT5 plugs I then plugged in my Asus into the 2nd CAT5 port. Now I did NOT have to switch everything over to the eero and all my Asus router devices still work with NO problems. What's nice here is NOW is can use the eero cellular backup connection to keep ALL of my Asus router devices connected in an ISP outage! Because my Asus is more robust and am running a VPN 24/7 on it ALL my devices still fall under the VPN even though it's piggy-backing off the eero connection but have NO speed losses. This is HUGE for me and WELL worth the extra $10 a month. The Ring Pro does NOT allow you to run a VPN directly on it is NO good for me the way I have things setup I'm still using the VPN and all my device connections are still encrypted on my Asus router! If my Asus router falls offline I can just reboot the eero router which take about 2min to reset and then I'm good to go! And I can do this while away from home!

Try to keep it short since this is all new to me. We are moving to our rural property and will most likely have to use Starlink (had hughesnet before) for internet. Some of the new SL packages come with WiFi-6 while others don't. You won't know what you are getting. How will this effect that? I know I will need to do a mesh system system since the home is 2200 sq ft. I know we will want to add doorbell cams (3), spot light cam (3 or 4). We have 2 computers, 2 tv and 2 cell phones. Any advice would be great. Cell reception sucks.

If you are in a region where the ring alarm pro (or even the normal ring alarm) is not sold, i would advise against importing it, for a few reasons: Differences in wireless standards (the alarm system may transmit data on frequencies that are not open to consumer devices where you live, which, for example, could interfere with police, fire and rescue, etc…) The sensors are essentially “region locked”, so if you import from the US, then you will have to import all future sensors from the US, even if it becomes available where you live at a later date

It can only support up to 900mbps. Which is roughly 300 mbps less than 1.2gbps speed. So I wouldn’t use the ring pro as my internet Wi-Fi router. BUT ring says if I get pro, I MUST set up ring pro as a router and I CANNOT SKIP this set up ??!! It doesn’t make sense !!! 🥶🥶🥶🥶🧐🧐🥶 If you get my concern clearly, please help clear this issue. I probably have 40 plus devices. I have Wireless cameras and constantly streaming. I'm also, an online gamer. I need the bandwidth. I don't think this will work for me. If I need battery back up. If the power goes out, I'll probably consider purchasing a battery backup solution for the base. The $200 for the yearly subscription for the Protect Pro version is deterring me from purchasing the Ring Alarm Pro. I have the Ring Alarm 2nd Generation with a yearly subscription of 100 bucks and I'm happy with it.

Not thrilled with what I can see for a couple of reasons. 1) Why on earth did they think it would be a good idea to write their name on every sensor inside. These things are supposed to be innocuous. Seeing the Ring name everywhere in my house is tasteless design. 2) Your review doesn't really delve into the recording aspect of the hub which is more critical than the basic network router side of it from my perspective. I may not want to move to an eero ecosystem and thereby only use it where I am forced too. Your reviews are fun to watch though. Thank you for that!

The router portion is garbage. It would not stay connected. They sent me another one and I had the sam issues. It ruined our smart home. I would warn anyone thinking about it.

My Alexa hasn't responded to any KZfaq video that says Alexa recently, I think it's getting better at distinguishing my voice, I have the newer echo dot.

Ring sucks, I just purchased an updated Ring Door Bell 7 weeks ago, the App was working perfect, I called Ring Customer Service she said lets refresh & uninstall the app and re install it, She failed to "FIRST" ask what version Android OS I had. Now I have no cell phone Ring app because the new App which people say sucks will not install on my phone nor can I get the version that installed no problem 2 months ago when I purchased the new Ring Door Bell on Amazon. And of course Ring could not give a Rats Azz less, I am Screwed. Ring Sucks. I am now going all Swann Enforcer 4K Camera Surveillance System & Door Bell they do not shut customers out. The fact this happened. from Ring poorly trained Rep is outrageous & I cannot get the prior App back. Ring has not helped at all.
