Pine Knob Theatre, May 30th 1997.
"White Room", written by Jack Bruce and Pete Brown, is a single by Cream from their 1968 album Wheels of Fire.
After bassist Jack Bruce wrote the guitar pieces, Cream's lyricist, poet Pete Brown, grouped colourful four-syllable phrases, loosely organised around images of waiting in an English railway station influenced by the drugs he was taking. "White Room" is further noted for its unusual time signature of 5/4 in the introduction and bridge, with triplets played on toms by Ginger Baker, his thunderous bass drum part also lacing the verses.[citation needed] Finally, "White Room" is notable for showcasing guitarist Eric Clapton's best known use of the Vox Clyde McCoy Picture Wah in the bridge and extended solo.[citation needed]
Along with "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Crossroads", "White Room" is one of Cream's most notable songs, having reached number 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number 28 on the UK Singles Chart.
"White Room" was placed at #367 on the 2004 List of Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Songs of All Time.

The best singer /bass player EVER. His voice exemplifies the power rock of the era and will never be matched and an impeccable bassist. This song changed history as far as rock goes. There’s no better example of heavy rock from the best time in rock music history from mid 60s to the 1980s. I prefer the 65-72 best before it became so commercialized.

In all the years of Ringo's All Star's, to me, this was the best line-up. Once I heard Jack was in the line-up, I bought tickets. Saw them at Jones beach outdoor stadium that summer. Great line up. Frampton, Jack, Simon Kirke (Bad Company), Gary Wright (Procol Harem), and Ringo obviously. The funny thing was, since it was an older crowd, people really didn't stand up much. But I noticed everyone stood when Jack played his Cream songs! lol

Bruce was just a great musician in many contexts. The song "As You Said" on "Wheels of Fire" was mostly Jack playing cello and singing -- a great song that was atypical of the rest of what Cream was doing. A couple of years later Jack was in the Tony Williams Lifetime, one of the early jazz fusion bands. Just a great musician.
