This sweet kitten and her siblings were found at a farm with a nasty case of ringworm. This is a textbook example of how ringworm presents itself on cats and different methods to treat it.

Hi, thanks for this. We live a bit into the country and apparently people like to dumb animals :( there is a cat that seems to have decided this is its home. The night that she came i brought her in because we had a sudden freeze and couldn't leave her out. But we have a bird and the house is a mess trying to find things to sell (been a rough year with no work plus my health has gotten worse so trying to not lose our home and just get necessities) anyway...but then had to have her outside but she stays right at the door. Bought a small bag of food and a bowl and she eats an insane amount, like she can't get enough. Looked in amazing shape, which is why I believe she was an indoor cat and loved...not sure what changed...but noticed a crusty thing near the back/bottom part of her mouth and thought maybe an abscess from a tooth or injury. But all the hair is gone once the crust came off, and now I see a tiny bald spot on top of her head :( her ears and back and everything look great...but...I literally have like $5 in the bank, so can't afford a vet or meds. Shes scratched up the front door wanting to come in🥺 its breaking my heart cuz I don't know what to do. I want her healthy and fixed cuz can't deal with kittens, and no ring worm and hopefully nothing wrong with her stomach to eat SO much....but I'm not even sure how to find the money to buy her another bag of food. But she's so sweet!! Anyway....I've just been looking for ideas or some cheap or free way to magically make it all better. I'm handicapped and love animals so much and the idea of a cuddly kitten or puppy is so wonderful...but...I know with my health and our money issues we couldn't do an animal justice, so I've curbed my desire. So now...just a bit stuck. Anyway...sorry for the babble...but thanks for the look at ring worm :)

Pretty sure the athletes foot med is not safe. Youre not supposed to use lotrimin on cats is why I say that.

Hello cat parents! 🐱 Did you know that ringworm in cats can be transmitted in two ways? The first one is through contact with an infected cat or some other animal. Interestingly, humans can also be infected with ringworm and pass it to cats. And the second type of transmission is through contact with objects that are contaminated with ringworm spores. These objects can be anything from collars, blankets, food and water bowls, toys, litter boxes, as well as scratching posts. If you want to learn more on how to treat ringworm in cats at home, find out here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jNqliqt31bXNmok.html So, what is your best advice when it comes to giving a cat a bath? Feel free to share in the comment section below 👇 I am so excited to hear from you really soon!

Hi if you get this kind of ringworm cream with Clotrimazole as the active ingredient then it is safe for them. They usually do lick it off but it's safe for them. I've never had issues with them grooming themselves with the cream on.

More questions than you can answer...ELEVEN sources can be provided, care for a turn? Half tame, at least 8 month old, female cat, one litter of six at month six. Physical contact with 4 humans,3 house cats, 2 dogs, 6 actual wild cats, 6 of her own kittens. LOTS of cross contact in the mix. Questions..Is it possible this cat can have ringworm and not exhibit physical symptoms? Can ONE bare spot of skin exist,under the neck and well healed and 6 months aged, be a sign of ringworm? With the above paragraphs of info, is it possible the ringworm is dormant in all the other animals and people or is the exposure yet to manifest? Does ringworm stay "dormant" for six months to a year, in a living host? I spend more money AND time at the Vet with my animals than for myself, should you care to know. I refuse to spend anymore of that just to find out who wins the spitting contest...NOT using you as a legal platform or nonsense parade. There are ten other questions I have about ringworm...maybe someone has some useful info. That Black Light test is a negative...at 8 months, I expect some signs of ringworm in the other animals.
@user-wt5if6rx8m2 жыл бұрын
I am not her and it’s been a year but yes it is possible for a cat to be an asymptomatic carrier of the fungus. I know because I had recurring ringworm infections (it went on for a year and a half. I was desperate already lol I have psoriasis so I kept thinking I was just getting a random rash. My cat? Not a single lesion. No itching. Not a single bald spot. Nothing. No crusts. It took me that entire year to start suspecting her xD My ringworm also didn’t present as a single small, round lesion. It spread through my arms and legs like hell. When I took my cat to the vet, they did a scraping test and it did turned out positive for fungus infection. Because there were no lesions, they just scraped a bunch of random places. Maybe try that next time if you haven’t, black light testing is not very accurate. It was negative (very predictably) on my kitty. Trivia: I was the ONLY one in my household (3 other people and a dog) who caught it and showed symptoms. The cat was everywhere, in everyone’s bed. So clearly, the fungus got in everyone’s skin, but only I got properly infected. It probably also has to do with the fact that I’m the only one atopic, my skin’s barrier is inherently weaker. Yes the “fungus” (or rather, its spores) can be floating around the place and people for over a year, “dormant”. What defines if you get infected is if you’re prone to that I figure. Also, after getting infected for a couple of times, I found I stopped getting infected, completely.

Aww the first one looks like my cat who we just lost 2 weeks ago. She was so so beautiful, a little less white and more black/brown compared to your cat, but otherwise very similar. She was a tiny 6-week-old when we got her. She died at just 6, way too soon and so unexpectedly, especially since she was indoor-only💔💔

If you bath your cat, maybe you aren’t rinsing all the soap out. It could be the wrong shampoo for your cat’s skin. 3rdly, it could be the food. See if any of those work. If not, call the vet

It depends. If you just do the cream it can take 6 weeks. If you add lime sulfur bathes maybe 4 weeks. With oral meds from a vet and all the rest then maybe 3 weeks. Luckily it doesn't hurt them. Just annoying

My main recommendation is using the cream I show in the video, that doesn't mean it is the only solution, but I do know that it won't hurt the cats that want to lick themselves. I can't speak for other topical treatments other than the lime/sulfur baths we give them. The oral medication is excellent, but can be expensive or harder to acquire.
@Marce01h4 жыл бұрын
@@CatvilleTNR How much is the medicine? Also where do I get the lime/sulfur to bath them. I think a cat im fostering right now has ringworms. She is very skinning and wasn't fed right at the beginning by the people that gave it to me. She is on a regular schedule now. She was filled with fleas and I thought that's why she was so skinny and her hair did not look right. I made the mistake of introducing her to my kitty. They have been playing and I just hope my kitty doesn't get it or myself. I will try to keep them apart as much as I can until I test her for it.
@CatvilleTNR4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for saving him! The best place to get the lime sulfer dip is online. You can also get medicated shampoo from a vet. The cream I use on the patches is just "althetes foot cream" from Walmart or a similar store. Just make sure to look on the back at the active ingredient. It needs to be clotrimazole as the active ingredient.

@@Marce01h if your cat had fleas you need to treat your home as they can live in carpet, bedding, in between floor boards, under radiators, etc. and come back onto your cat even after you give the cat flea treatment. Treating your house will take 3-4months of vigilant vacuuming (place a flea collar inside vacuum bad and cleaning, especially ALL bedding (including people bedding). fleas also carry parasites like tapeworms when the cat grooms and accidentally eats some, you should get the cat to a vet for a parasite panel and medications. they can cause harm or even kill the cat, and not all are visible.
