Two of the Freshman dorms have ACs, if you applied ED and submitted your housing application early, chances are that you would get placed in one of those dorms. I wouldn't say RISD is on the "outskirts" by any means. College Hill is more or less a sub-center of Providence.

I used to be the 'music kid' at my scouting group. This is a reason I stopped talking about music all together when I went to highschool because I didn't want to be known as 'that music kid'. That's not the only reason though, it's also cause I'm fairly sure nobody really cared and they'd find it annoying if I talked about it or showed my work, or even said anything about any performances I had done. I had done that for a bit with my friends but they seemed so genuinely uninterested, and I tend to go overboard a lot. When they they asked my opinion on a song I would pick it apart and say what I liked about it and what I didn't like about it.... I'm genuinely very passionate but that comes across as pretentious and generic, so I learned to stop saying anything. The downside of that is that in the end nobody knew that I even really did anything with music. And while that's not dramatic or anything, it's still a giant part of my life that I didn't share at all. It felt like those people didn't know me even though we went to the same school for 6 years. I'm also pretty quiet, so everyone forgot the few times I did mention anything about music lmao, which I'm greatful for, cause it was bad enough being the quiet kid, I didn't want to be the snobby, pretentious quiet kid. But aight, that my classmates didn't know was alright, they eventually didn't know me at all anyway. But even my friends... When they asked what I was gonna do after high school I was hesitant to say that I wanted to do the entrance exam for the conservatory. They were surprised by that, and they didn't have any idea what kind of music I even make. Ngl, I knew they didn't know anything about my interests, but at the same time... That kinda hurt lmao. Idk whether I'll get in, but if I do, being surrounded by people who are equally as nerdy if not more about music is something I'd be really excited about.
