While I think CJ’s point about the constant roster swapping in EU making players more adaptable is true, I will say that it makes the region less engaging to me as a viewer just because I can’t get attached to a team. The higher level of play is a benefit, but I personally like to follow a team’s story line over the season.

It does make for good individual stories though cause people play their old teammates all the time. Or the fact that we will have all of the old moist roster at lan individually. Personally I can still get invested in the players that way. Especially with how much shit they talk in EU

There's plenty of drama that makes it exciting in EU. I think in general the high movements of teams make it the more exciting region for me. Right now NA is mainly exciting because of how close it is for the LAN and Worlds between so many teams.

I totally agree with Rise saying he leans towards the non friend for teammates. Working with friends in an ultra competitive environment is always weird when you start losing. There's always weird dynamics. Its harder to bench a friend. Usually friends don't respect eachother to same level as another non-friend professional. If there's a 3rd non ftiend then that person will feel pushed aside. It's extra bad if 1 of the friends is worse than the other top. Even more problems from that. Been there, done that. Not at pro level, but I get it lol

Yeah we can tell NA to take risks but look at OpTic. Takes a risk with MB and it doesn’t pay off in the first two splits (spring is better though). That is the risk and there is no doubt that when they teamed, AYYJAYY and Retals were really good.
@MichaelSheaAudio
@MichaelSheaAudio Жыл бұрын
I had brought this up on a different video about how EU is going to dominate NA at the Spring Major because their teams are so much stronger. If NA is so much worse, and they're not giving enough chances to bubble players, then surely, EU would have a huge gap over NA when it comes to NA vs EU series and top 8 spots. The actual stats are as follows: RLCS 2021-22 (including Worlds Wildcard for series wins) NA: 19 wins, 13 teams top 8 EU: 23 (+2 Best Of Set wins for BDS and Queso) wins, 13 teams top 8 RLCS 2022-23 NA: 8 wins, 7 teams top 8 EU: 11 wins, 7 teams top 8 Over the past like 21 or 22 months, where is the EU domination? EU only edged out NA by a matter of a few series wins over the entire 21-22 season. If NA is lagging behind and the region is suffering, it doesn't really show in international events. The EU teams going to the Spring Major look really good, but we have yet to see EU blow NA out of the water, so I don't think this event is going to be any different than the past 2 years. I could be wrong, and I don't mind if I am, but historically, the results are on the side of both regions performing equally well. So really, is it so bad that NA have fewer bubble players or rookies on the top teams? It remains to be seen.
@MattTheWaffle
@MattTheWaffle Жыл бұрын
Historically, eu have almost double na’s rlcs lan victories. And the 3 people in contention for the GOAT are all from eu. Turbo, Kaydop, Monkey moon. The reason that this debate about eu being better than na, is being talked about more is because the regionals show that na is behind when it comes to eu. People who have been in the rlcs scene for a while all unanimously agree that eu is quite a lot better than na. And the top 4 in eu are the top 4 in the world. And the only team that could maybe be fourth best in the world that isn’t European, is version1, but they don’t even look better than hogan mode of you compare the two teams.
@MichaelSheaAudio
@MichaelSheaAudio Жыл бұрын
@@MattTheWaffle You are correct, I've been watching since Season 3. I use the current and previous season as an example because there is more data in a shorter period of time, and it's more recent so it's more relevant. EU do have more Grand Finals wins over NA since the start of the RLCS, and even in these covid+ seasons, EU leads in Major and World finals wins 4-2. But if we're looking at overall head to head performance of the two regions since September of 2021, they're dead even in top 8 spots and EU has a +9 in series wins. Considering there have been 63 series played in that time, that's only a 57% win rate for EU. A 57% win rate isn't exactly what I would call dominant for a region that's said to be head and shoulders better than NA. That's the point I'm trying to make. I don't care much for speculation about who could potentially beat who, but Vitality could bomb out like BDS and NRG in winter of 21-22. Version1 could win the regional this weekend and steamroll their way to the finals at the Spring Major. Literally anything can happen, and it doesn't matter to me whether I'm wrong or not, I just enjoy the competition. I just think these stats counter the arguments that people try to make in the silly NA vs EU debate, and it brings us back down to reality. That's not always the case though, some people will reject the facts and that is quite unfortunate for them. (Edit: I don't mean that in reference to you, I'm just covering my ass. I'm not saying you don't accept facts. 😂)

I feel as if most of the conversation is in regard to the trajectory of NA gameplay. While 2021-22 data is somewhat important in making any assumption about the future, Rocket League is a game that changes incredibly fast and the pros know that. That is why people like Rise are criticizing the lack of risk-taking (signing bubble players/rookies) within the NA scene as it stops teams and players from being able to progress and keep up with an e-sport that changes every month. Therefore I think it is pretty fair for pro players and casters to predict such a performance from EU this major, simply looking at the regional and major gameplay of the winter and spring split, especially with the knowledge that the game has changed a lot from even the time of the world championship. So, of course, NA not changing rosters seems like it might not be so bad right now, because the top stay at the top for a long time. However once those pros have tired out, mentally or mechanically, they haven't fostered a good enough system that continues that region's success, since they never thought to change something that works. I think most people are just saying that the "visible" difference in gameplay between EU and NA regionals this past split might be a sign of the impending failures of the NA way.
@MichaelSheaAudio
@MichaelSheaAudio Жыл бұрын
@@zap9044 It's fair to think about the long term effects of kinda gatekeeping the top teams, but that's not to say that newer or established bubble players haven't been picked up or stepped up on their own. Shopify takes on top teams, Dignitas made it to the Winter Major with two LAN rookies and Dreaz, M80 was putting in work earlier this season, Optic picked up MajicBear, GenG got Chronic, Aqua was a name floating aroubd for a long time, LJ got on SSG this season, etc. There are still newer players coming up, but perhaps not at the break-neck speed of EU. And like Joyo said, if these players are so good, then prove it. Scrims help but if you really think you're that good, then go beat some top 8 teams and make them take notice.

Can confirm about the NA ranked being a gongshow. People in gc still don't even know anything about teamwork. They have SSL level mech but gold level positioning and teamwork. And they end up mid champ/low gc lol. Very funny to hear CJ say he was laughing playing ranked in NA because of how bad it was. It's currently at the point where if you pass, your teammate won't expect it ans is already rotating back or they will 50/50 their own teammate because they are a no brain ball chaser. There's no in-between. I've seen gc1 games where someone rage quits and makes it a 3v2, then the 2 people win because the 3 people just keep trying to air play and giving the ball away with 0 teamwork and double commits. It's insane. Not to mention the quitting mentality(not sure if this is in EU too). It's soooooooooo annoying to solo que na servers

Bro PAUSE, chrome tryna say in the chat which I randomly saw, “there’s not a pool of talent in the bubble scene” I wanna say firstly this pissed me off, this is why na is behind eu, that mindset right there. A buddy of mine, who carried plats to gc in a single sitting, never played pro play, is a freestyling MASTER, and has beaten pros like ayyjayy, reysbull, Yang, etc in 1s and he’s doesn’t even like 1s. Not to mention he triple flip reset stalls whenever he wants, and it’s the heli stall and craziest part is, he’s never once considered going pro. Why? Cuz NA is scared to take chances. There is plenty of talent! NA is scared to take chances which is why they’re behind. Look at optic bro, they took a chance on majic, give him a few splits to develop, BOOM dude carries optic to a major spot. I love chrome too and it’s sucks but dude you’re so wrong man. Coaches of all people should be the ones looking to take chances on underdeveloped talent.
