Gio Pennacchietti (‪@GiantArtProductions‬) is an artist, critic, and internet anthropologist immersed in the "right wing" / "dissident" network of anons, cranks, and content creators. In this calmvo, he schools me about such things as "frog twitter" "theorycels" and why Canada is so... well, Canadian. Find links to all his work and online goodies here:

Same. I still like surrealism and various other types of art and music most right wingers abhor. Still not a Pollock fan but I understand the intent. I guess that's why I retain the classical liberal label despite having many disagreements with that ideology.

Gio may not be a zoomer but the way he speaks is so relatable and accessible to me, an old zoomer. And his takes are great. I aspire to one day possess an intellect like his. Speaking as a sculptor working in contemporary realism for over thirty years, there are some artists whose work falls into abstract that I admire, but Pollack's work has a contrived following. He painted noise that looked like bad textile designs, pure trash, disposable with a multi million dollar price tag thanks to to corrupt fine art brokers. There are ways to use realism and still convey abstract or contrarian (according to current culture) themes that are subtle and nuanced. Truly great art is not just aesthetically intriguing but it carries an underlying concept that is compelling. Also, speaking as a man old enough to be the father of Gio or his contemporaries, conversations like this keep me connected to world as it changes and younger generations emerge with their own societal niches in which they communicate and form coalitions around shared ideals. Many of the references to particular persons went over my head, but I found the talk worthwhile and engaging.

We had a draconian left wing response to the anti"sacrament" protesters here in Victoria Australia, which included police firing rubber bullets on those wishing to travel more than 5km from their home. I think this opened the door to the anti hate speech laws which were passed here two years ago to shut down any protest against gender affirming care and SOGI in our schools. The kids were home schooled for 2 years so it didn't really affect us as much. I can't imagine a million marching 4 kids protest here right now, but all drag queen story times have been blocked by parents picketing those local governments wishing to host them. All levels of government and the churches in Australia have been ideologically captured by trans ideology, critical race theory and climate change obsession. Although these laws and the political and media climate of shutting down free speech is difficult to live with because of the threat of jail, most of us still try to push the boundaries online. The online oppression of free speech therefore has a greater impact.

1:56:15 To put a fine point on it, I would say perfectibility in the traditional or right-wing vision is, first, at least partially communal, because seeing pure individuality as a fiction, it recognizes the social nature of man; second, and a little redundantly, it recognizes that man HAS a nature, and therefore is not infinitely malleable. A final implication of this - comprising a third distinction - would be that, contrary to Progressive, libertine notions of "freedom", a classical vision of freedom had much more to do with the ability to pursue transcendence, based on liberation from vice and conformity to one's true Nature.

@🧺... I was called for jury duty in April 2020. The notice said masks were required in the court building. I called the county clerk and asked for a postponement of service, as I was not willing to wear a Covid mask. She extended my call for 6 mo. in "hopes" that the mandates would be over by then. Well, as we all learned... they were not! Turns out, that my extension was only 3 months, so I called again. Spoke to same lady and re-iterated my concern. She told me [essentially...] "Tough titty, you have to wear a mask". . I told her again, that while I am sorry, this is NOT negotiable. I will show up at the court building and when the guards don't let me in, the court will need to find me in contempt, so come to my home and arrest me. I further said, that they would have to kick in my door and drag me away, but will STILL not wear a mask. I will not wear a mask to speak to a judge, nor will I wear one if put in jail. Most of this conversation actually happened via e-mail, but over the course of several, I made all the above points quite clear. I told her that this was a hill I was willing to die on and again... not negotiable. She said that a judge would have to make a ruling, so I said .."fine. Let me know what happens". She then forwarded ALL of my emails to the judge. . Over the course of the next 4 weeks (my jury duty appearance was in like 5 weeks), I called a number of times and she said no word yet. By the last week, I had made arrangements with my brother to drive me to the courthouse, so that if I was arrested, my car would not be stuck in the parking lot and need to get towed. I never did hear from the judge, so I made that "after 5:00 PM call" the night before... and was excused. . I am sure the judge was not willing to deal with the attention of throwing me in jail and watching me raise all holy hell over mandates, so excused me 😸

@@jonschmitt232 .... TY 🐈Being retired prior to 2020, I had a MASSIVE advantage to avoiding masking. That said, had I a job or something that required it or the jab, It would have needed to be ABSOLUTELY CATASTROPHIC to my life / family, in order to comply. The hypocrisy of mask usage in one place, while not in another or wearing one INTO a restaurant, but not once you sit down, was blatantly PROOF that it was all about virtue signalling and especially... _control_ ! . I despise being manipulated and the entire thing was all about getting people to comply.... makes me SICK, just to think about it all. To your follow up point, there is no question there was a push to go round 2, and it is possible they may push again, but WAY more people are just not gonna do that again. Some clearly will, as probably 3% have NEVER opted to stop wearing a mask. . Hell, not two days ago, I was walking to the grocery store and waiting for the crosswalk light and what did I see...? A late 20's early 30's dude... driving a Prius alone... MASKED! What a F'ing TOOL that guy! . Just goes to show why we call the leftist a cult, because they LITERALLY are!

I respect Gio, but he's a new Canadian, so when he describes the "spirit" of our people, particularly around the concept of the frontier, I'm afraid he is entirely wrong and has no personal or cultural experience of what it is to be a heritage Canadian as I myself am who was raised to always think "frontier" and the West always represented that possibility. He is also likely unaware that it was the French explorers who mapped most of North America and that "idea" still resides in those of us who are French Canadians. Gio has no knowledge or experience with the French mind in Canada aside from Anglo propaganda about us. We grew up with a saying in French that translates exactly to English, "Go west young man." Gio, it seems doesn't know that ost people who make up the West Coast of Canada hail from Quebec and Ontario.
