The animations look a lot like actual cats in this video too? Like sure, they'll allow you to pet them, but if they're planning to walk off, they'll just climb further and jump off. I love it!

Essentially, it's not a work of art, and it's not mindless, but it's just "simple fun" that scratches the itch of just wanting to have "fun" for a while. That honestly sounds like a breath of fresh air to some of the (as Jane put it) bloated games that can feel almost more like working a second job to complete rather than a game you're having fun with.

It's ridiculous how good the combat feels even though it's only one button. It feels so visceral and brutal. Granted that's in part to the simply astounding sound design when using headphones with 3D audio capable.

@@zanite8650 those were troublesome, but what i'm referring to is how the boars in that game had messed up hit boxes and attack animations. sometimes you could land a hit on them, yet they wouldn't take damage and sometimes even if you dodged out of the way you did still take damage.

I thought the same thing! I played the one where you kick daikon radishes out of the ground to eat/heal. Loved the faction-based narrative choices that really made you feel like that random ronin who blows through town and upsets the status quo!

As the owner, or maybe servant, of 6 cats, the clip of the cat absolutely losing it because Luke didn't sneak up on it is 1) hilarious and 2) rather accurate for a startled cat. I'm still on the fence about this game. I do really like this era of history and that era is the main reason why I'm probably going to get to Like a Dragon: Ishin at some point even though I've never played a Yakuza/Like a Dragon game before.

The cosmetic armor thing is in Nioh 2... and it looks like a lot of the weapon styles are the same used in Nioh 2, I recognize some of the major attacks. The combat systems seems to be streamlined though. The more understandable easily gained story (than From Soft) is also characteristic of Nioh 2. Makes sense they carried over a lot of their style from other games.

I like it when games allow you to change the appearance of your armour and outfits. Hogwarts Legacy did it too and it meant you could equip random scarves, gloves, and glasses that don't at all go together but give great stats, but it would all be hidden so you could just look like a normal student.

That's the Cyberpunk 2077 outfit style as well, where you can set the outfit and then just equip items for stats. I'm not an aesthetic enthusiast, but I ended up loving that feature.

I'm 3 episodes in and it's fantastic so far. The fights are fantastic and the main character is such a badass. The full scene that they showed a clip from is amazing.

Luke, as a (very good) DM currently in a big Japan fiction mood, I strongly recommend checking out the Legend of 5 Rings roleplaying system (and it has a pretty simple and satisfying system, and an intro mission that guides the players through the rules pretty well for a first session, it could make for a *Wonder*ful opportunity ;p )

That was the first system I ever DM'd. The politics/social interactions can become way more tense than any battle if you lean into the whole honor, loyalty and subtleties of it.

One complaint I’ve seen that is definitely justified is how they structured story missions and boss fights at the end. There always has to be a boss fight. So if you the objective of your mission is to deliver information to someone, even your ally, how that will play out is: You fighting a bunch of regular enemies, find that person that you need to deliver information to. Have a *boss fight* with them, that ends with you doing a finishing animation that absolutely should have left them dead. Yet a cutscene immediately plays where the person you should of just killed casually gets up and is like “ok enough seeesh, I’ll take that information now” …..That aspect is not good design lol… Still looking forward to playing though. End of the day it sounds like a fun game to jump in and out of while waiting for GoT2

One thing I'd say with AC. The basic idea of the open world with icons is not necessarily bad. Just implementation is important. Good point A to B travel and a nice horizon can even cover up bad gameplay a lot of times.

I wasnt to happy with the new of no more Show Of The Weekend, but these videos are like a lovely suprise and random moments throughout the week so long may it continue. I could always watch them back to back on a saturday and feel like an extra long episode. Just needs a quiz or choose your own adventure vid

After playing the game, I'm very glad I pre-ordered it. The game is a lot more fun than I hoped, let alone being hilarious too. One example: Me: *Fighting and killing an enemy NPC* Random Civilian NPC: *Casually strolling by* Nope, nothing to see here. Then there's the part where I went to Edo and I accidentally killed a civilian NPC after hitting the wrong button. Yet I didn't realize I could do that, and I stopped feeling bad when I remembered I'm an Outlaw, so I'm not supposed to care 😂 That aside, I like that you can build and customize your own character, collect items and fast travel to the V.E. banners to make traveling to my mission areas much easier. If there's one thing that annoys me, it's those damn cats. That geisha lady could not for the life of her keep them around 😂😮‍💨

Just as a recommendation for media set around this era, there's a film called The Last Samurai (with Tom Cruise, but don't let that put you off) set on both sides of the argument between accepting and rejecting the West. Worth a watch if you can find it

Sounds like classic team ninja. Extremely fun moment to moment gameplay, a strong historically based story with not the highest level of graphical fidelity, selectable separation from fashion and stats, and a little bit of jank added for charm. Definitely putting this on my wish list. With Ghost of Tsushima (and Bloodborne) would make their way out of Playstation jail so I can play them too...

Ellen is absolutely right about Ghost of Tsushima vs the recent AC games. Valhalla was especially bloated out where as Tsushima was big, but was more focused and that lead me to want to keep playing it.

Surprisingly can’t wait, Team ninja does amazing work! Nioh 2 is the single best soulslike for me-SO good. As an aside- Blue Eyed Samurai is the best show I’ve seen in *years*, everyone should watch it.

Hmm.. this video has convinced me more than any other that there is a chance I might like this game, but it'll have to wait. Dragon's Dogma is coming and I'm still having tons of fun with Helldivers 2
