Number 10 Downing Street is an unforgiving address. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
At 10.15 this morning Liz Truss said her un-emotional goodbyes with her family looking on.
There was no apology for the chaos that cut her time here pitifully short.
Barely two hours later Rishi Sunak appeared alone in front of the black door to thank his predecessors and then blame them for the state we're in, a state that has also enabled him to become prime minister.
He talked clearly and seriously about the need to fix mistakes, rebuild trust, and reboot compassion - the broom going in after the mess. He said he would fill every day with hope but left us wondering how.
He culled his cabinet of some loyalists but he kept the brand new Chancellor Jeremy Hunt and resurrected Suella Braverman as Home Secretary.
So is this a government of all the talents or a government of all the factions?

Labour already said it was fed up with new prime ministers week on week, and then suggests the uk gets a new one.. That is bonkers i think if the are fed up with new prime ministers right? What they should be saying is it does not matter that labour may have misled the nation and took it into war with another nation, sorry would work from blair but he seems reluctant on that and we remember the troops that died . Truss tried to borrow it... the markets had other ideas... labour would experience the same.. if you want to blame someone I'm afraid you have to look a lot further than parliament... we've been hit by three giant things: 2008 financial crisis covid Ukraine / energy war...

@@joecater894 I think people would be much better off if they stopped expecting the government to look after them. We've only had the welfare state since the war. If people can't look after themselves now, imagine if they had no help at all. It wasn't that long ago that that would be the case. The more you do for these people, the more you have to do in the future and their employers can pay them lower wages because they are being subsidised by the government.

Look at the conservative party they know how to play the so called ''British white working class'' because many are very emotional and sentimental in regards to economy, immigration and what not. Yet the so called politicians and talkingheads like Nigel Farage are living a nice middle class life with people who drive to home or other locations. Yet the ''British working class'' are the ones who are poor, anry, emotional, having social media and racist tantrums not learning to see the bigger picture who plays which are the political and economical elites of the political establishments. But hey it what its is and it will continue what its for generations to come because this simpel game is the most difficult to understand by society.

But it’s pointless to be a dogged interviewer when ur subject always gives the same programmed answer in a robotic monotone. Interviewer: “Prime Minister, is it true you had fish and chips for lunch today?” Lizzie: “I delivered on the energy crisis, dealing with people’s energy bills, but also dealing with the long-term issues we have on energy supply. And I will deliver on the National Health Service.” Interviewer: “excuse me? I was asking what you had for lunch…” Lizzie: “The fact is that the abolition of the 45p tax rate became a distraction from the major parts of our growth plan and for that, I’m sorry.”

Fun Brexit Test - try sending a parcel on a delivery website from a British address to any address in Europe. Just to see how much you need to know and how long it takes to do it. Let's pick something easy like Argos pillows that you bought in Britain they you're sending to a friend in Europe. Do you know the tax code for pillows? Where were the materials sourced? After you do this you'll get a very good understanding of the delays and hassle it is for businesses. And you'll quickly realise why foreign businesses won't be selecting Britain for investment.

A government’s primary duty is to the country’s individuals. The economy is second to that. Mr Sunak’s furlough and “ eat out “ scheme saved small businesses, allowed employees to be paid, and helped millions. This led to the financial situation we face today. I would happily pay more tax if it helps my country. Mr Sunak may be wealthy, but with the furlough he has shown that he understands the difficulties ordinary people face.
