Blackmore the showman. The Man in Black was the best imo. Total technition and true wizard. Best band at this time.If they can only get the sound timed with the video and release this on DVD I'm a buyer.

Fantastic Richie Blackmore and his Rainbows. This line up definitely his best. Cozy and Ronnie especially. It's true they say only the good die young. RIP Cozy and Ronnie.

They came to Australia after this, same lineup - saw them Sydney 1976 Oct, tickets were like $14 each so went two nights in a row 👌 best concert ever seen, Cozy was mind blowing as they all were🌟 those were the days

Anyone else see the guitar change between 1:48 and 3:06? I was just listening so didn't catch the switch. I'm guessing that the main guitar is the rosewood neck one he starts the song with and switches to the maple one that gets smashed

I totally agree. You can include Jimmy Bain too. They were still decent with Bob Daisley and David Stone but they didn't have or could duplicate the hard drive like Rising.

I've two questions. First, how did Ritchie get his hair like that? I'm kind of digging his style. Second, how the hell is his guitar cable mounted to stand up to flailing that strat around like so?

His hair was falling out, he would undergo an unsuccessful hair transplant less than twelve months later. The cables were nailed to the guitars that were smashed.

It's interesting that Yngwie copied this guy completely in stage moves, image, guitar, hair etc but his guitar playing wasn't as sloppy as blackmore can be.

Yngwie is just too much shredding. The silence in between the notes is the music. Blackmore understood this I figure. Otherwise it's just muddled and blurry. Being sloppy as you call it doesn't mean he's not polished. He just gave it his all. That and probably a few pints.

Why sloppy? May be your Malmsteen is sloopy and predictable?! Blackmore did a lot of great songs and riffs, Yingwie did lot of stupid and no need shreddings.

Blackmore had precision when he wanted it. What he also had was a perfect tone, not reliant on fuzz/distortion like Yngwie.

Blackmore is so stingy. He even doesn’t care that the guitar he is playing with the tortoise shell pickguard and rosewood neck doesn’t look like the one he is destroying with the white pickguard and maple neck😎. This is how calculated rock did become a few years after Hendrix and Townshend😎 One of the reasons Punk started and totally ignored Blackmore etc. Don’t get me wrong I liked the song a lot, when I was 13 or 14 and saw this performance on German TV.

Bullshit. Ronnie was light years ahead of Ozzy in terms of his singing abilities. Ozzy was more into the controversy and showmanship but Ronnie was the better singer.
