We stayed there for 7 days the beginning December and we stayed in room 1416 the view was stunning make sure you book an ocean view room or ask for an upgrade when first arriving. The food was good(the steak house was the best)and the pools where nice but decided to spend most of are by the Ocean you just can’t beat the beautiful ocean. We did feel like it was a younger demographic and the shows seem to start a little later then some of other resorts we have stayed at. Over all we love the Riu resorts!

@@clevenger22 it was a great place to stay at, I was there in May last year, loved the food, one of the best all inclusive s I’ve ever had. Unfortunately we didn’t get a nice sea view as the hotel was fully booked when we tried to upgrade but it didn’t spoil our stay

Does the hotel still cast shadow over the pool and beach areas ? I was therec20 years ago when it first opened and there was no sunshine after 2pm

Hi John Rambo, we were there in May, the beach had sunshine all day, and the swim up pool did, the only place we found was shady on the afternoon was the quiet pool to the right side of the hotel, you thinking of going again ?

@Stuart Lee The seaweed problem in riviera maya as me thinking about changing to riu cancun again We are booked into riu playacar for 2 weeks from 5th of May, but apparently the seaweed is at its worst then

@@johnrambo4245 we didn’t see any seaweed when we were there 4th to 14th May people were saying it’s bad at certain times but I can’t remember what months are the worst, have a great time wherever you go 👍🏻

Hi Jessica, swim up bar was busy while we were there, we didn’t use it, there’s a nice quiet pool around to the right side of the hotel if you want to chill. The entertainment was quite good, we went out a few nights so didn’t see every night but what we saw was good. Hope you enjoy your holiday, thanks for subscribing 🙂

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately we booked direct with Tui online and there doesn't seem to be any options for different rooms. Nice video btw, we watched this before booking as the hotel does look amazing. Where you in the main building or annex?

Not sure what part we were in, to tell you the truth, we were on 2nd floor and found it easier to get to, the lifts were very busy at night and big queues for them to get to the floors, we just used the stairs. Anyway I wouldn’t worry, the hotel is great, best all inclusive food I’ve had, beach and pools are lovely and it’s in a great position for the bars up the road.

Hi Tricia, this was taken in early May of this year, we didn’t see any sea weed at all while we were there.

Hi Stuart, Did you travel with Tui UK and what floor did you end up on? I read on an old post somewhere that Tui guests get the lower floors with poor views. My wife and I are spending September there, so hoping for the best. The room is only described as "Double Room with Balcony". Mark

Hi Mark, we did travel with TUI and we got a rubbish view, we ended up on the 2nd floor overlooking a roof, you need to ask for a sea view room or you might end up with a rubbish view one. We couldn’t upgrade either as they were fully booked. I would have a word with who you booked with and ask if you can get a sea view, didn’t spoil our holiday but a nice view would have been a bonus. Hope you get it sorted and have a great time 👍🏻

Hi Lesley, no they are not heated, the quiet one to the right of the hotel was quite cold as well, not sure if the others were cold as the sun was on them most of the day

Hi Davie, I know they say vaping is banned but loads were doing it around the hotel with no problems, I did see a few people smoking around the outside of the hotel, not sure if you can smoke inside I never noticed as I dont smoke, hope that helps, have a great time

There are quite a few nice bars and restaurants within walking distance from the hotel, it’s not run down either, it’s a nice area mostly hotels

Not sure about vegan but the food was amazing for all inclusive, so much choice all very lovely and there are a few themed restaurants as well, we only tried the steak restaurant and that was brilliant, great food and the staff are really nice and friendly, always looking after you

Hello, Thanks for posting this as I'm looking at hotels to stay in Cancun and this one looks promising! Is this a 100% all inclusive hotel? food and drinks or are there extras? Thanks in advance

Hi, yes it’s 24 hour all inclusive and the food and drinks are great, I thought this was the best all inclusive hotel food I had ever had, there are also a few restaurants you can goto inside the hotel like a steak restaurant and a Japanese one and a couple of others but I can’t think what there were, all are included with not having to pay anything extra. Hotel is in a great spot as well close to coco bongo and some other bars and restaurants. Hope this helps

@@brooklynstylee no worries, it’s good to ask, I don’t know about room service, not sure if there was any, one thing tho, ask for a sea view room, we didn’t realise not all rooms were sea view and ended up overlooking a roof, we asked to upgrade but all the rooms were full, didn’t spoil the holiday tho but it is nice to look at the great views from the balcony

Hello 👋… when was this? We’re going in 3 weeks and staying here as well, this would be our 3rd time staying here. But we were wondering if there’s as much sea weed in this area as in the other areas?!

Hi Marissa, this was only three weeks ago, hardly any seed weed in the sea or in the beach that we saw, don’t think it was very bad, hope you have a great time, we really enjoyed our stay

Hi, I’ve never been to Riu Place but Riu Cancun was lovely, we really enjoyed it there and had a great time, the hotel was great, food was lovely

@@DJStuartLee You definitely should check out the Palace Peninsula, it’s just 35 mins walking from Riu cancun. The Palace is higher class. Right now the Palace if $275 more for adults and $135 more for child.
