"ISN'T IT ILLEGAL FOR ANOTHER MINER TO JUMP YOUR CLAIM??" This is the most common question I get when it comes to competition with other dredges. We work on what's called a "competitive lease" meaning the Eroica and a few other operations are permitted to work the ground. There's only 1 rule: You can't mine too close to any operation that's anchored down. No one can lay claim to any section of ground for themselves. If there's open water, you can set anchor and have at it, even if another operation just left. If your spot gets jumped, which happens all the time, your only options are to find gold elsewhere, or to wait for the dredge to go back in and jump it back. Thank you for the answer to my question. I didn't see a "competitive lease" option on the DNR site. I know you have a small crew and double shifts are rare due to the ever changing conditions. It makes sense that when another dredge sees you working the same anchorage day after day that they would want to jump your spot.

Your approach to offshore gold mining is fantastic. How you're measuring each aspect of your work, and analyzing it, to find what is working and what is not, is fantastic. Finding productive work in sand? Great, do that! The scientific method, obvs in its barest form, but still, to "get it done", is nice to see - compared to the haphazard way this appears to have been done before. I look forward to every new video you put out, thank you for letting us in to this world!

I think that Emily has been a grounded gold miner. No drama no dock fights, consistency and good sense. That does not make good "reality" TV. Crazy people who cannot control themselves, people who go somewhere they are not welcome and get shot at, a fist fight on the dock, drama every hour with yelling and screaming. Family fights, equipment disasters stemming from just bad ideas and worse execution. That is what the goofs on a network look for. They fail to realize that many people are actually interested in the process of gold mining on the Bering Sea.

My great great grandfather left Maine for the Klondike with 3000 lbs of potatoes because the miners were dying of scurvy. He traded a pound of gold for a pound of potatoes. He had two wagons and 12 oxen. He was almost four years gone and came back home with a ton and a half of gold

HI Emily...On one of your videos you recommended getting a dream mat for your gold cube..So I did .. I've processed about 6 lbs of pay and recovered 10 grams of gold with it ..Nothing made it passed the dream mat ! It works GREAT and is so much easier to clean than the gold cube mats !! Thank You for the Tip and keep mining ! Did I mention...IT WORKS GREAT ! And THANKS !

That's no good, losing your material outta of your flare. I know all dredges take a beating from the bering sea every time the weather turns bad. Probably will sound silly but if it was my boat I would have a different kind of anchors. I would have a big plastic container, the size of an oil barrel and a rope to pull it and a hose to pump water to the barrel and from it. When its outside, its empty and "lite" and when its underwater, it fills will water and its heavy. I think this way the boat wouldn't move. I know it would give a lot of work but I think its feasible.

Hi Emily, That got me to my bookshelf and pull out my old book from art school marketing 1992. A Whack on the side of the head - Roger Von Oech Have Something at Stake A frozen-fish processor had trouble selling a new line of frozen fish because it tasted “flat”. The company tried to keep the fish fresh including holding them in tanks until just before processing - but to no avail. Then someone suggested: ‘Put a predator in there with them-that should keep them fresh”. This idea worked like a charm. The fish kept moving and retained their vitality. Moral: have something at stake-survival, self-esteem, money, reputation-so that you’ll be motivated to make your idea successful. What do you have at stake?

One thing I have noticed over the years, the pros who get the gold do the unpleasant things like digging in, around, and under those big boulders when they find it's hot. Others might look for easier ground, and not make the money.

Ok i just thought we sleeve pipe all the time with a poly liner. Sewer pipe high pressure gas lines. If its pipe it can be lined. Not a permenent solution but it gets you to September ❤

@@timthompson8297 A lot has changed there in the past two years. He was referring to his individual mining effort. He has subleased all those claims for 20% royalty subleases. That is what Emily is doing, subleasing a claim somebody else owns, paying a 20% royalty.
