Rivers of Nihil's "The Void from Which No Sound Escapes" from "The Work."
Directed by David Brodsky and Allison Woest for MyGoodEye.
"'The Void from Which No Sound Escapes' is a song that was put together pretty early in the writing process for 'The Work'. It features some familiar sounds that people have come to expect from our band, while also highlighting some new sounds and textures that we've never experimented with before." - Brody Uttley

Rivers of Nihil is one of those bands that I don’t instantly appreciate. Don’t get me wrong, I liked this song when I first heard tuned in, but it took about 10 listens before it hit me with the full scope of its awesomeness. Gimme another 10 listens and I’ll probably be absolutely obsessed with it.

@@JustinVlad4 It's definitely worth a few listens, but it's prob not everyone's cup of tea at the same time. I'm guessing some fans want more of their original heaviness. I've always liked bands that mix heavy parts with more melodic, atmospheric arrangements, so this album is way up my alley.

I understand that and feel the same way with certain songs. Only thing that bother me about that is I think deep about stuff and that legit is a type of brainwashing lol. The easiest way to brainwash( maybe I'm thinking of another word but it's not coming to me ) but easiest way to do that someone is repetition. Also think about all the times you found yourself singing a song you absolutely hate but your singing it only because you have heard it so many times.. lol

The Void from Which No Sound Escapes Music: Uttley Lyrics: Biggs Away from here /no sound to hear I tear out my being, I feed it to my children All of this work I want you to remain here No escape This void keeps gripping tighter Should I let it stay It might just swallow me whole Running away, running away. I want you to remain I tear out my being and feed it to my children It keeps them sick with poison Addicted to these noises Not a single sound escapes this void which cannot be found Speak louder so this voice will carry Speak now before we get too carried away What did you expect to hear? A voice so loud and so clear Breathing in and out a sigh, of sweet relief tonight What did you expect to be? But a cynical man just like me. Drifting in and out of life, like curious moonlight When the fires fade and the river’s dry When you speak my name Like a weighted sigh Why don’t you hear the whisper in the void that we made real today Not a single sound, escapes this void which cannot be found. Speak louder so this voice will carry. Speak now before we all get carried away. When the fires fade, and the rivers dry, and there’s no escape, from a million eyes When the fires fade, and the rivers dry, when you speak my name just to say goodbye I’m what you fear, a whisper in the void with no escape, no escape When the fires fade, and the rivers dry, when you speak my name like a weighted sigh Why don’t you hear the whisper in the void that we made real today

Read an interview where Jake said this song was about his struggle as a musician in the emotion he puts behind his songs and how people sing these words like it's nothing and what it could be doing to them - "I tear out my being, and feed it to my children. It gets them sick with poison, addicted to these noises" And I also imagine the want to be remembered for your art when you/your band (Rivers) is gone. - "When the fires fade, when the Rivers dry" But you will always be remembered for your work and art.

I got the pleasure of discovering this band at a show, when they opened for Killswitch Engage, and holy crap! They were easily my favorite act of the night, just because they were doing something completely different and it was so much fun. I mean that saxophone? Just damn. It was a wonderful experience and I had a blast. I'm easily gonna be a diehard fan now, and I"m DEFINITELY going to binge their entire discography

Just art, deep meaningful art. You can feel everything... and that final chorus... Beautifully executed.

This is my first time hearing this song. I was reading the comments so I knew the sax was coming.... but holy shit, I was not prepared for that. That was fucking cool.
