The Rivers State Legislative Chamber was set on fire 🔥 yesterday night 29th October, 2023 around 10pm with explosives 🧨 by suspected thugs who invaded the Complex with Improvised Explosive Devices ( IED ).
It was gathered that the recent turn of events, is as a result of the Ex-governor of Rivers State ( Nyesom Wike ) overbearing nature and control of things in the state, in spite the fact that , he has handed power over to the newly elected Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.
It's further alleged that there are plans to impeach the State House of Assembly Leader , Hon. Edison Ehie , for opposing the Ex-Governor dictatorial tendencies in the State from his new Position as the F.C.T minister.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria in Rivers has expressed support to the Governor Sim Fubara.
The Chairman of the apex youth body in the state , Chijioke Ihunwo, has cautioned those trying to impeach the Governor to desist from such an act.
That democracy must be given the chance to thrive in the state.
The coalition of Democratic Vanguard, a unified group of concerned citizens, has condemned the attempts by the ex- governor and his allies for allegedly trying to impeach the Governor, Sim Fubara and the Leader of the house Edison Ehie.
They went further to state that the ex-governor and his allies should prioritise the interest of the people of the state and set aside personal and political interests that will jeopardize development of the state.
They further stated that " Rivers State is not the personal Estate of the former governor, as such should be allowed to be governed by the Chosen one, Governor Sim Fubara for development, peace and tranquility of the State.
