I think that the main reason that Billie is getting a lot of attention it's because she is bringing to this industry something so different and unique that you usually don't see other artists doing. My favorite from her album is Listen before I go, the lyrics bring me so many memories and thoughts and things that I'm experiencing at the moment. Another artist with a very unique concept it's Melanie Martinez. It's true, they feel they are alone, no one understands them. that they are not worthy of anything. and because of that darkness consumes them. they take it to themselves and they don't know what to do with it. that sense of being lost. This video is so powerful it moved me. the scene where Billie drinks that dark liquid and it seeps out of her. That is what exactly depression is like.

I have a toxic, emotionally abusive mother. We’re estranged, but I am still struggling to let go of the need for that approval and unconditional love that’s never ever been there. I have trouble listening to this song, even though it’s beautiful. Billie Eilish has an amazing ability, at such a young age, to recognize and articulate complex, overlapping social problems. "Quiet when I'm coming home and I'm on my own, And I could lie and say I like it like that, like it like that" that lyric gets me in the feels and the whole song just makes me feel so sad

I hope i’m wrong, but this song and occasionally the clip shows me that Billie is this character where has been through a lot of shit, she’s isolated from anything in a white space, a space where she’s comfortable, she’s calm and everything inside this mind-box is peaceful. But then we have the clip starting with the dark liquid inside the glass, which for me is a clearly representation of “repressing feelings”, something that it gathered up on that glass and now Billie, her character, has to deal with that experience, she has to learn and she has to deal with the process of learning what it is and what does it mean to her. She’s in denial, because she’s holding herself to deal with that pain that she knows she’s goin to suffer. The again, she finally drinks. And it’s awful, her hands shakes a bit and her body is in denial. She’s swallowing the pain, she’s not dealing with the problem, she’s ignoring, trying to swallow and move it on. And then, she’s starting to leak, the black liquid is leaking from her eyes, she denies herself to see the truth of that painful experience that she just denied. She tries to cover that up, but then it starts to leak more stronger. And, FUCK ME, the details: every time she’s in denial is when she’s singing the exact part: “I Could LIE and say i LIKE IT LIKE THAT”. When she’s holding her hands against her lega before taking the glass, when she starts to leak the liquid, and then, for the last time, when the camera in going down - and the FUCKING DETAIL OF CINEMATOGRAPHY HERE: the camera is going down showing the glass empty, but then again, her clothes and body in the exact same region in the back of the glass and you can see that is black, saying almost like: You drink it, you ignore it, so it’s still there. You just change its place. The Pain is still there. The camera is going down and for the last time, she sings - without the same strength as before, that part of the lyrics: “I could LIE and say I LIKE IT LIKE THAT” and then we see she’s denying for the last time, and as result, all the black liquid that she’s been carrying with her finally leaks completely, and we have a resolution and a environmental storytelling here, saying that this character has been holding more than it could take. Like everyone in our lives. Maybe you. Maybe me. And then she leaks completely, and the white space - the peaceful space of... well, PEACE, becomes black. Becomes pain. And only pain. Because she refuses to learn, she refuses to let that experience do something to her, taking the pain to grow... instead, she “swallowed”. And keep swallowing. She couldn’t keep swallowing forever.

Billie's talent really is how much emotion she can betray in her voice. Her acting is also amazing to portray. I hope people know that Billie Eilish is talented but her brother is a huge contributor to her music and deserves acknowledgment.
