Rick would have hated seeing those engines in that state even going for scrap. Don’t think I have ever seen one of his locos so dirty or tatty…. Scrap or not. RIP big guy. Great company - great man.

Those are just being moved to another location for Corman. They aren't being scrapped. Going to Corman's operation in Clearfield PA. I imagine they will be put in the shop there for some TLC (they got beat to hell working a grain processing plant in Decatur, IL) and then sent to other locations.

They are not being scrapped they're being transferred to another RJ Corman Route

Interesting collection of locomotives: NS 721 A road slug, as you can see from the lack of fans except the dynamics RJC 9009 GP9, built 1958 for the B&O RJC 1739 GP16, built 1955 for the Seaboard Air Line RJC 7681 GP38, built 1969 for Penn Central RJC 1208 SW1200 RJC 9002 high-hood GP9, built 1956 for the C&O.

highly doubt these will be scrapped. Rj Corman isn't going to scrap a GP38-2 unless its got a frame issue.

Good catch but a sad one. Hope that at least one gets preserved or maybe donated to a museum. Especially one of the little switchers or the ancient high hood GP.

One would have to check the list published by the FRA of condemned locomotives RJC agreed to scrap as part of the emissions extortion racket. (I would but I’m way too lazy.)

As Indiana Jones said " it belongs in a musem" , I'd bet there's railroad musems out there that would love some of these units instead of sending them to the scrap. High hoods are becoming rarer and rarer these days,not to mention the old switcher

These RJ Corman units came out of Decatur IL where they recently lost a switching contract. I doubt they’ll be scrapped but they were in very poor condition when they left

Neat, and sweet catch. I think these locomotives are now at Cresson. I heard 10G dropped the RJ’s off at Altoona. C52 picked them up, and went into the Cresson yard. Edit: Would also like to mention that there is a scrap yard at Cresson. BUT, there is also an R.J. Corman line there as well.

I definitely agree with ethan and it’s disgusting how railroads don’t see the historic value in them enough to restore them and use them to take excursions then they would be making money on trains they would have scrapped and if rj corman doesn’t exist no more that makes it worse! money can’t replace history it’s a shame the public couldn’t weigh in and suggest not doing so suggesting historical value

My children😮 Spent countless nights on all of them Was there for the last day. Could tell you anything about them. Wonder what happened to our “newest” engine. Probably sent to a different short line. Was still in decent shape. 3844.

Wish they could have saved that end cab switcher or that high short hood Geep.

It's a wonder someone don't get their act together and buy sell & trade road switchers to all the short-lines especially the mother & slugs sets as a operational cost cutter savings. Then gather up all SW's and alike switchers and modify them into smaller Gen-sets for private industrial purpose either to Sell or Lease them. It would be a waste to scrap them.
