The transformation of this rail line is quite remarkable. To go from an uncertain future, threatened with the possibility of abandonment, to being operated by one of the more respected companies in the railroad industry. That said, I wish to offer some helpful advice to avoid any possible confrontation with the railroad. Always stay clear of a hot rail, especially during switching operations. The best rule of thumb is 20' from either side of the track is considered railroad property. Also, while some crews don't mind you filming operations, others may not care for it too much. For some, it's a safety concern, others they may not wish to be filmed. I've been a railroader & a railfan. I can appreciate the perspective from both sides of the coin.

Thank you for the tips. I usually ask permission to film the trains. It’s always yes most of the times, but most of the time the rail folks prefer not to be filmed.

Love your videos! We live in Loris about a half mile from the tracks and love to hear what we call the donkey train because of the horn. Keep up the good work.
