SHINee's "Married to the Music" was released in 2015 and it's supposed to be fun and upbeat, because they are "Married to the Music." The MV has a very "Rocky Horror Picture Show" vibe, and it's just about as iconic of a cult classic as that movie as well. As others have probably mentioned, In the MV the girl in the wedding dress was collecting the best body parts from each of the members to create her ideal man. She burned Minho's head because what she wanted was his body. She used fire because Minho's nickname is "Flaming Charisma" because of his passion for sports and his need to always win. Minho has the best body of the group so, she took Minho's body, Key's head, Onew's nose, Taemin's eyes and Jonghyun's lips (for obvious reasons. LOL). Then at the end she spliced them all together and formed her perfect guy. If you notice, in the end credits you see a person that has been created from all of the members' body parts which is supposed to be the guy the girl created. In other words, music is a very fickle girl and she controls your life by picking and choosing the best parts and mashes them together to create the perfect song. LOL. Their outfits and hair are supposed to look like they are dressed for a retro Halloween party. If you want to see the choreography better you should watch the performance version MV or a live comeback stage, and if you do, you might notice their bow ties look like bats and their hats have witches fingers, etc. It's supposed to have that fun, campy horror/comedy look and feel. "Married to the Music" is considered a Halloween must watch within the fandom and most of us make this MV part of our Halloween tradition every year. However, this song and MV came out in August, nowhere near Halloween. Halloween isn't really a big deal in Korea and it has only been in the last few years that Koreans have started to celebrate Halloween by holding costume parties. Halloween in Korea is pretty much a western culture transplant. But, the middle of summer is horror season in Korea. Koreans say they like to watch scary movies and shows in the summer because it gives them chills which cools them down when it is hot. So, that's probably why they came up with this concept for "Married to the Music" as an August comeback theme. SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM Entertainment's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to come up with a style and sound that has never been done before. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will NEVER hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album. The industry looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. Case in point, SHINee is known as one of the very first groups to ever dress up in full costume for Halloween. They first did it for a fan meeting. Which is what gave Lee SooMan (the founder of SM) the idea to hold a costume party. Now SM is known for holding one of the largest costume parties every year. As part of the party there is a costume contest and the person with the best costume wins an all expenses paid vacation trip. Key is very competitive when it comes to fashion, costumes included, and the last time he attended the Halloween party he won. He came as Voldemort from Harry Potter. Here are some fun facts about SHINee's "1 of 1" MV: "1 of 1" came out in 2016 and it is the title track on SHINee's 5th full length Korean album. SHINee debuted on May 25, 2008, (5/25). In this MV there were 25 girls. So, 5 members + 25 girls = 5/25. All the girls in this MV are models, so if you notice, they don't really dance, and most of the girls are taller than the SHINee members LOL -- but that's OK because it fits the theme of the MV well. In the '90s often the girls that were featured in the MVs were well known models and actresses, not backup dancers. The MV was supposed to have that slightly awkward, unpolished look and feel to it because it was part of the retro aesthetic. The quality of the video was on point with exactly how MVs were made in the '90s. Everything in this MV was done very deliberately to make it look and feel like it came straight out of the '90s. I can't remember which it was, but either the time stamp on the MV or the time stamp on the song is exactly 5:25 as well. As the fashionista of the group, Key was the one who picked out the outfits and styled the members for this MV. :D Appreciate Minho with blond/gray hair while you can. ;D There has only been a handful of times in the past 13 years that Minho has ever dyed his hair any other color besides brown or auburn. And when he has, it doesn't stay that color for more than a few weeks. As you know, Minho is a lead actor in a lot of K-dramas and movies. So, one of the reasons why I think he doesn't dye his hair as often as other idols, is because of his acting roles. The majority of the roles that he plays are boy next door-type characters or historical dramas, etc. so he needs to look as average as he can. (Or, at least as average as a guy who was born with model good looks can anyway. LOL) Also, as I'm sure others have mentioned, Onew sprained his ankle in concert right before they started promoting for this album and he was unable to dance. That is why you saw him sitting down the whole time in the MV and why there are only 4 of them in the dance breaks. It was several weeks into promotions for this song before Onew was able to participate in the choreography. If you want to see all 5 of them dancing you will have to check out one of their last live comeback stage performances. As you noticed, the MV and album is meant to have a very retro '90s vibe, and that is why the song, dance and aesthetic of the MV and album have a very '90s look. As someone who was a teenager in the '90s, I can attest to the fact that this is so perfect. Everything, from the look of the set with the all white background to the clothes everyone wore, to their dance moves, to the video editing and the sound of the song, was all '90s. They even released some of their albums on cassette tape as part of a limited collector's edition to further celebrate the '90s theme. It's amazing how every song SHINee releases is very unique and unlike any other, and yet, every time, no matter what, it always has that very SHINee feel.

SHINee is always the trend setter. They released 1 of 1 back in 2016 ! And look how the retro trend in Kpop today. They always go all out on each of their concept, not just the music but also the outfit , the mv, they even released 1 of 1 album in limited edition cassette tapes ! SHINee can do any genre but always manage to make them sound "SHINee-esque". That's what I love about them.

There is almost 1.5 years between View and 1 of 1 which is probably why you think they look older. Onew sprained his ankle at SHINee's concert in 2016 which is why he wasn't really dancing in 1 of 1. The theory of MTTM is that the girl took the best parts of each member (Key's face/head, Taemin's eyes, Onew's nose, Jonghyun's mouth, Minho's body) to make the perfect man. The end spotlight image of the MV is of the perfect man she made. Can't wait for you to check out Key's new album! It's a masterpiece and Key put his heart and soul into everything (music, styling, concepts, etc) for this comeback. He worked really hard and fought really hard to get what he wanted, even to the point where he used some of his own money for it. i totally get what you mean! retro, funky and rnb are some of my favorite shinee sounds and some of the ones they do the best, they totally own these styles, so much they have become signature for them, and like you said theres a very nostalgic feel to it

I think SHINee just knows the oldies were good songs... they have old souls and they have such deep thoughts as if they have lived ages ago and you see that in interviews if you see enough of them... If you see their car karokes they sing oldies from time to time

Actually Married to the Music was released a few months after View, and 1of1 was released a year and some months later. Their whole 1of1 album has a retro vibe to it and they committed to the retro concept so much that you could even buy it as cassette tapes!

I mean shinee has been in the industry for a long time but IMO these songs make their impact even more legendary. It seems like they have been there for forever, setting trends and always being relevant. It's such a contradiction to their ages (especially with Taemin).

i think there's a timelessness to the shinee sound. they are probably the only kpop boy grp tht i know that will use a different genre of music every comeback n really make music that is that genre instead of just 'kpop retro', they actually go strong retro with the music, but in their vocals/delivery/styling /choreo makes it still familiar to the kpop genre and also where they keep their signature shinee touch. e. g. choreo is always classy

Ooh I'm late to this and everyone has said everything I want to say in the comments haha, including the order mix up and Onew's injury. These are two of my favourites! I agree Jonghyun's blue suit/red turtleneck is one of his best ever looks, he's so handsome here. Minho's silver hair is forever iconic, wow indeed. I love the ridiculous multicoloured retro outfits they tried. Speaking of SHINee in suits, you should watch "Your Number", it's the DEFINITIVE suit dance! It's a Japanese release from just before View but it's safe to react to, there are loads of reactions up on yt. Another one that is safe to react to and you REALLY shouldn't miss is the 2017 Japanese mv "Get The Treasure", not only is it a great song and mv but it is their very last one as 5. MTTM is my absolute favourite title mv, it's so funky and fun! She's making an ideal man just like Dr Frank-N-Furter does with Rocky in RHPS. I love campy horror themes like this. Ha! Your face when she brought out the knife! SHINee excel at the retro sound, especially 1 of 1, the entire album is a perfect example. Something like the Temptations, the Four Tops, New Edition or Boyz II Men which are different generations but give the same feel? I think Key was going for a "freshly electrocuted like Frankenstein's monster" look, Taemin called it broccoli hair haha. Pineapple hair Jonghyun is adorable, the MUA put it up while they were getting ready and it was so cute they kept it for filming. Yes some Superstar appreciation, such a feel good song!
