The Punks were badass. Only gang to put up a real fight against The Warriors (bathroom fight). The Furies were all show. A really underrated scene is the prom dates on the train, how Swan pulls Mercys hand down when she tries to fix her hair. She closes her eyes and when she opens them, the prom dates are gone. A small scene where two different worlds cross path, and they have absolutely nothing in common.

1. When this came out many of the larger cities didn't run it. They were afraid it would lead to gang violence. 2. Late 70s soundtrack. 3. My favorite character is Luther. He's f-ing nuts. 4. Skates may look cool, but would suck in a fight. 5. "Warriors, come out to play" was ad lib. The director told David Patrick Kelly to come up with something menacing, and he looked back to when he was a kid and a creepy old neighbor used to torment the kids to come out to play. 6. The girl with the flowers on the train at the end is Debra Winger. This was her first gig. 7. End it with Joe Walsh.

The costumes and direction was inspired by comic books. The story was inspired by an ancient Greek story called Anabasis (The Way Back Home), by Xenophon; he was part of a Greek mercenary force hired by a deposed Persian king. At one point, the leaders of the force and the king were invited to a meeting and killed; the rest of the story is their trying to make their way back to Greece.

23:05 The irony is "The Warriors" became a video game in 2005 courtesy of Rockstar Games/Rockstar Games Toronto. They were able to get six of the original actors to reprise their characters with the voices of Michael Beck (Swan), James Remar (Ajax), Deborah VanValkenburgh (Mercy), Dorsey Wright (Cleon), Thomas G. Waites (The Fox), and David Harris (Cochise). It's worth playing and satisfying.

The genius of this movie, in my opinion, is that the filmmakers didn't go for a realistic and gritty movie about gangs. They went for a fever dream about street gangs. It almost feels like a trip through the city while you're high AF. Everything looks real but it FEELS hyperreal. You don't see that kind of thing in low budget movies very often.

He took his girlfriend roller skating and they got into a fight and she ended up kicking him in the junk while she still had her skates on. He ended up taking an ambulance trip to the hospital and having emergency surgery done. Roller skates in a fight would have their share of drawbacks but you wouldn't want to get kicked by anyone wearing them.

He did a couple other really good movies like "48 Hours" with Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy, which is a action movie that has James Remar "Ajax in this movie" as the principle bad guy. The origins of the basic story go back 2,500 years ago to real events involving a squad of Greek mercenaries trying to escape from Persia when their employer was killed. One of the survivors documented them in the work "Anabasis." The Persian empire was really diverse, so the enemies and friends they met along the way definitely influenced all the weird gangs in the movie.

This is a remarkably good choice for a reaction. It's only been reacted to on KZfaq a few times. One interesting thing about "The Warriors" is that it's a very, very clever movie masquerading as a run of the mill action flick. I grew up 20 miles from New York City and one thing I love about this movie is that it takes place in a fantasy New York City that doesn't exist. Street gangs who wear baseball uniforms and have make-up on their faces? One really cool thing that sometimes happens in horror movies and action movies is when they know very well that they're being silly or funny, but they play it absolutely straight as though they didn't know. I believe that's true of this movie. It also has a lot of quotable lines. Sometimes I say them to my wife who is very patient with it. Anyway, good job! Thanks.

Great choice guys! This was my dad's favourite movie and I have happy memories of regularly watching it with him when I was growing up. I don't think the film should be remade but a tv series would be good. I'd set it in the future to explain away the crazy outfits - even the mimes could look intimidating if their face make up was messed up more like Heath Ledger's when he was playing the Joker. The Warriors was originally supposed to be set in the future but they dropped the idea during production, mainly because they were rushing to get the film released before another street gang movie that was coming out that year, called The Wanderers. There's a lot of interesting trivia out there about the movie - like how Fox's character was killed off early in the movie because the actor who played him didn't get on with the director!

It was controversial film for the time since it was tied to vandalism and three deaths. Paramount gave theaters an out to not show it but also offered extra security. It made almost 5 times its budget. Both Sigourney Weaver and Tony Danza were almost cast.

Awesome movie reaction 👍👍........This is 1 of my favorite movie to watch , I lost count on how many times I seen this movie and I still have the Xbox the warriors game too that I play once in a while.......it's crazy how they had to fight there way thro every gang to get back to their turf I remember yrs ago fans of the movie were speculating that Luther must've been hired to kill Cyrus , but he wasn't hired at all he just wanted to kill Cyrus fun When I seen John wick 4 , it has a nod to the warriors movie with the radio DJ doing the same announcement just like the warriors movie I wish they made a part 2 or a remake of it but with the same script dialog and outfits

Awesome movie, great reaction, I had seen it in the theater when it came out, but I I never read the book, the last time I watched it at home about a year ago I realized that there was a point in the movie they never addressed, who was Luther (the guy who shot Cyrus) talking to on the payphone?

Will forever be in my Top 3 favorites! The first R rated movie my father took me to see at the age of 7 and not to tell my mother. Like others with Scarface, I have every version/release. . . even the director's cut which is trash though. The game was underrated in my opinion.

the reason ain't no guns is cuz in the 60s and early 80s, wasn't a lot of guns on the streets, and we took pride in scrapping wit our hands...u didn't get stripes for shootin nobody, we thought it was weak and cowardly to shoot somebody instead of squabbin, unless it was totally needed...

You can't recruit a dead guy. Gangs would sometimes beat the sh** out of another gang, then recruit many of them, to swell their own numbers. There were definitely plenty of guns on the streets however. It's always been easy to get a gun in America, almost anywhere.

The Gramercy Riff gang is very loosely based on a gang in the 70's called "The Black Spades". They were the biggest Black gang in NYC in the 70's. They had over 10,000 members spanning all parts of New York City, Michigan, New Jersey, and Florida.

Please do The Wanderers, I prefer it over the warriors. It's based in New York in the 60s (I think) and its also about gangs. The soundtrack is amazing it also as humour, I am certain you will all love it.

3:49 SHADOWRUN! Hell yeah man awesome to find out your a fan of that game chummer. I gotta say Warriors def inspired Cyberpunk 2020 and Shadowrun's gangs. Watching warriors for the first time I was thinking if the Halloweeners popped in out of nowhere along with having orks and trolls suddenly in their gang it would not be out of place for a wacky movie like this.

I highly doubt that The Gangs of New York inspired anything let along the colors of the gangs. This movie was made in 1979 23 years before the 2002 Gangs of New York. If anything maybe Warriors inspired some of the clothing/colors of Gangs of NY.

I just saw your reaction to the classic comedy Blazing Saddles. I don't know if you've done a reaction to the movie "The Jerk" with Steve Martin but if not it's a great movie. The Warriors is definitely a great movie, the best scene is "Warriors Come Out to Play". I've seen it quite a few times over the years. It also has a great song by Joe Walsh to end the movie off.
