Another tip: The compass shows the name of the biome you are in. It can be pretty useful for RLCraft in general. Find the biome from above, then find a cave below and use the compass and Atlas to make sure you don't accidentally leave the biome.

Not from RLCraft, but playing a pack with IaF that needs Troll Tusks to progress. A general tip that this video implies but that I've had issues with first hand is headroom. If you're digging out spawn areas to try and get trolls, keep in mind that 3 isn't enough. They're taller than Endermen, a solid 4, maybe 4 and a half. They need headspace to spawn. Mine out a large room with 4 blocks of headspace to give them lots of opportunities to spawn ive had four trolls spawn at once before in my spawning room i mined.

If you are not well equipped, try branch mining in the biomes that trolls spawn in and set up a temp base just near large caves or cavern. Trolls are quite loud so you'll eventually hear them when they spawn. They can also see you through walls and will start bashing it when you are near them.

Okay the best strategy to get them is to make a big room in a suitable biome (use the compass to see what biome you're in) underground below y 20. The room should be at least 8 blocks high. I got 3 mountain trolls spawning within 5 minutes which is insane.

Lol thanks for the tip of stonelings. Went for finding a troll, found a stoneling within a minute and killed it to get a heart of diamond or whatever that was.

Some troll-hunting tips for players who are inexperienced and/or bad at the game like me: - I strongly recommend wearing Silver Armor. If you don't know, many non-vanilla armor sets have set bonuses. Full Silver Armor will give you immunity to most of the debuffs in the game-- the most important one for troll-hunting being Instability IMO. Fuck Wraamons. - Use a summoning staff-- Aegis is probably the most practical summon for early-game. Easy to learn, make for good meatshields, and can be used to cheese trolls that are aggro'ed on you and stuck (many enemies won't shift aggro if it's already locked onto you, even if a summon hits them). - That explosion effect on a troll's swing isn't for show. Be ready to fight a Tremor at any moment. - Don't go caving without a Recall Potion. I mean-- don't do a lot of RLCraft things without a Recall Potion-- but REEEAAALLY don't go caving without a Recall Potion. Never let it leave your hotbar.

Troll leather can be obtained from snow villagers and troll tusk can be gotten from dirt with treasure hunting skill. Both options much safer

I do not think they only spawn deep underground. I just installed RLcraft 2.9 and started in a plains area next to a forest area. Anytime I go exploring i will see at least 2 of the trolls roaming in the forest. I dont know if i somehow made a bug but yeah they do spawn in any forest biome on the surface as long as the light level is low and i accidentally found out that they turn into stone if exposed to sunlight i think. So if you want to kill a troll, do it at low light level area.

I just found out there can be troll spawners in doomlike dugeons (i found a troll spawner under the mainloot chest)

Does getting a saddle need to be so damn hard? First get knowledge 2 to even begin to tame a flyer and spend a year in the process. Then you realize, you need a different saddle which takes 50 sets of livers. Then when you try to go out and find a troll, you get trolled by dragons blasting the shit out of you by it's smelly breath. I'm gonna go and spend a millenia making a 20x20x8 room in a forest and pray to the RNG demon for a damn tusk!

Ive encountered my first troll in a surface cave so it became stone, tried to hit it amd it turned invisible asides from the eyes and weapon, any tips? Ive tried reddit and the wiki and it does mention turning to stone but not the second part

Another Tip:troll dont spawn on Y10 only on Y12 or deeper you cannot kill the troll on tight spaces you need more spaces the one you see on this vid bring a slowness potion u need to hit it directly bring bow just incase creeper will spawn fast even skeletons use ring of resistance and honor of shield[this two will help you fight it will grant u dodge like sans]
