You can also do night hunting and kill a ton of rocs to gain knowledge level 2, just another option.

This is actually so clever! I actually got an avian flying mount, a raiko to be specific, on my hardcore world by killing Princess boss (they drop avian soulstones) :D

Something really weird that happened to me is that a roc came up to me in the middle of the day and tried to drop a creeper on me, bear on mine I live in a mountain biome, nowhere near a savanna or plains biome

happened to me literally like an hour ago man! they seem to do that at night. they pick creepers up and drop them on your head! i had to dodge it!!!

This worked so well I farmed for like a entire real life day and only saw 3 rocs which I researched then I made a tower and sniped enemies and started finding them like crazy

Didn’t even occur to me Rocs were spider-like in AI, and i also forgot about that boat cheese. Might also test this strategy with hostile mobs like Epion or Morock on a separate world

Well the problem with Rocs is getting the saddle, not the taming. Tbh, I wouldn't bother with rocs until you need them for moving villiagers around. Although you have to wait for a full moon, Epions are the easiest Lycanite flying mount to get imo, when taking into account the ease of getting the treats/making the saddle.

I find getting the saddle pretty easy tbh. Had my Roc about 8 hours into my HC playthrough I think. I'mma do a full 'walkthrough' on troll hunting soon.

Actually it is like a boss mate i would normally grind for silex for long time till i got enough but this is even better as i dont need to chase rocs across the map with soulgazer, simply trap it and increase knowledge to rank 2 then tame it with less treats :))

Taming is not my issue. It is finding the mats for the saddle! Have been hunting the deep caves in Forest biomes Nothing yet.

Rather than a boat, I like using a cart cause then you can grab it and run it wherever you want. Carts are OP

You can also move a boat but tbh I didn't think about using a cart :P I usually just do it near my base so I don't have to move it anywhere.

This might be late to ask, but where do rocs spawn, is there a specific place it won’t spawn. It’s snowy at my base and I never see one

Hey mate! If I feed roc avian treat, will it despawn? I don't have materials for soulstone or enough treats, so I plan to use just 16 treats. Any tips?

You need a soulstone. Don't tame without one. Nametag it if you don't want it to despawn.

Is there still that bug, when you can't give name to bound creature? I've seen that after you dismiss named one it loses its name and you get your nametag back

When i named my raiko it took me relogging to show the name in the beastiary, but the name stayed above the raiko the instant i used the tag. So it seems to be working, i only used the one tag so can't say for sure.

Good strat but relies on RNG. Also not really hardcore viable until late game where you should already have flying mount.

You can probably check 'lycanites' keybinds with the 'category' option checked.

You can breed silex with lapis to make a farm. Or Ika with carrots I think.

Compass tell you the biome I believe. Plains is usually where I go.

@@Alsosalar I have a guide on how to get Golem Armour and a guide on how to farm Parasites in Lost City (although needs some updating) which can help you get Living/Sentient Gear. I also have guides on best baubles and best way to get Ankh Shield etc.

I disagree. It was WAY to easy before. Now feels like an achievement after struggling on horseback for a while. The cart and horse is a great strategy for early game.
