The Map module in Lightroom Classic is an incredibly powerful tool for organizing and sorting images by the location they were taken. If you commonly take images in a variety of locations, this might be a great way for you to stay organized.
Many cameras also have integrated GPS units which can make this module even more useful as your images will automatically be plotted on the map.
Overall, this module is very underrated and can be a fantastic place to spend quite a bit of time getting organized in Lightroom Classic.

I wanna know what monitor you are using, the one that is behind you at the start of the video?

At about 3:20 of the video you drop selected images on the map. You can also select the images, move your cursor to the location of your images and right click your mouse. Of course YMMV.

You advise turning on “Look up city, state and country of GPS coordinates to provide address suggestions” option in the “Catalog settings”. Use that feature with caution. LR Classic’s geotagging is flaky, and I found that turning off this feature fixes that problem. It seems that if the reverse geocoding of a GPS coordinate failed for any reason, LRC won’t record the new GPS coordinates at all. Major fail, Adobe. Anyway, use the “Look up city, state and country…” feature at your own risk.

Excellent tutorial !! - Probably a dumb question BUT - How do you "Tag" an image to make it easier when using the Map Module ? Any help gratefully received.

why it doesnt work after I drag my photo to the map,the GPS information doesnt change?

Hi - excellent video, simple explanations. Thanks. I currently use Lightroom 6 but reluctantly will be upgrading to Lightroom Classic CC. (dont like subscription model!) Most of my 192k photos are GPS tagged, Will Lightroom Classic CC add the location details to the existing photos metadata or do I have to do something specific to implement it. Many thanks.

It should all transfer without issue once you upgrade your catalog to the new version.

When I go to the map module on my new laptop in Lightroom Classic, a map does not show, it is a blank white panel. Any idea what could be causing this. It worked fine on my last laptop
