We just need to rethink our driving/riding laws so they stop coming after drivers and riders that just want to have some fun. Certainly there is a line you shouldn't cross, and thats your skill level. There should be levels of licenses - beginners, intermediate, advanced. Where you can break little judgmental laws as long as it is safe and you're in control, meaning you didn't cause a dangerous situation.

Hitting the Dragon here in the east on a weekend is a beeyatch, because of a.) clueless cars & bikers oncoming in your lane, b.) cops, c.) slowazz riders who won't share the lane so you can pass, d.) drivers who won't take the pulloffs to let faster traffic by, and E.) TOURISTS!!!

Once you've had a few close calls on that road with the dickheads who go left of center you might appreciate the occasional police presence. They aren't up there every weekend and when you do encounter them they aren't looking to tag anyone unless they're going WAY over the speed limit, pulling stunts, or riding a stolen bike... When they show up just ride the rest of Mulholland or the numerous other local canyon roads that are MINUTES away or just make a trip over to Angeles Crest or the other roads up north of LA. I'd rather have an occasional crackdown than a completely lawless road with frequent rider fatalities. It's usually the douchebags in sports cars getting pulled over for going left of center. The police are very biker friendly in SoCal. Just don't be a dick. Might help change your perception if you watch Officer Rob's vlogs.

MotoErgoSum is right. I once had a CHP motorcycle cop move over and wave me by while I was lane splitting at 80+ mph on my way to work. Us bikers do have it pretty good here in SoCal. Let's try not to abuse it.

Steven Mackey yea the dealers will give them another "drive" out tag when the current one expires. It won't really get you out of a ticket if you get stopped and checked but the idea behind it is it may keep them from stopping you to begin with

Steven, perhaps there's a an exception to the temporary tag rules for extremely prominent (and rare) autos, not because the owners are a privileged class, but because they are so easy to spot (and difficult to blend in) that just the make and color is enough. If a red Ferrari robbed a bank, broadcasting the make/color might practically be as useful as a temporary tag description. And all of this is just for a temporary period _anyway._ Meanwhile, you might reconsider that resentment of their owners. Financially, they're carrying you, in numerous regards - and not vice versa.

So true Johnny. All those tickets to pay for helicopter fuel. I don't even ride anymore. But people need to have a place to enjoy their bikes and have some epic fun without getting busted. Not everyone has the time and money to be a pro racer.

hey zeeb, if you factor in that you can ride everyday on the road and how often you can ride on the road for just gas money and maintenance items, even with tickets its cheaper. every time you want to go to a track day its an immediate 200 or so dollars to do that. plus you need a full body condom, gauntlets and boots. we wear good gear but we dont have expensive track suits. every time me and my friends go riding all day it costs each of us maybe 40 dollars in 91 octane gas and 15 bucks each for lunch if we dont get cheap stuff like mcdonalds and if you look at your local speeding ticket scale and just stay below the limit that will get you in jail you should be fine. i also like to do a scouting run for police on sections we like to go on. but here in the north east we dont have nearly any cops on the twisty sections. plus some of us have radar jammers.

Alex Diaz so agree with you, sounds Jsut like Valentinos moto gp r1! Amazing how they sound nothin like an inline 4, but almost identical to the v4 from aprilia . I have a 2017 Yamaha FZ 10, the new super naked R1, (old mans r1) ripped the factory catalytic converter off replaced with a Termignoni cat delete ypipe and it's one of the greatest sounds on earth, even with the factory titanium can. Watching these R1's was heaven!

awesome man. That new FZ 10 is probably going to be my next bike. Great bike; I got to ride one out at a track. Yamaha came out and let a bunch of the riders try our all their different bikes on the track. Couldn't keep my hands off the new FZ 10
