Backstory:
In an alternate 1989 - World War 3 has broken out in the Pacific and Europe.
As Soviet subs head south to cut off the escaping remnant of the US Pacific Fleet, they invade into Australian and New Zealand waters.

Imagine being a submariner, you have attacked the biggest superpower that you and your county have been waiting to do so, destroyed their naval fleet and attacked their homeland, travelled hundreds of miles to do it again only to be destroyed by a country that isn't even an ally to the one your against, and you don't even know how or what killed you. Scary. Absolutely great video man, loved it's improvement from your promo one. 100/10 for me buddy!

Back in the 80s my grandfather and uncle were fishing near Kapti island....they said a submarine went under their boat....the water was clear and calm and they could see the pretty deep. down. It was going quite slow. They are both ex military so had some idea of what they saw. Years later the same uncle worked on Aussie subs as a contractor on electrical issues.

You got a bit wrong. At 2:26 they would *never* say _two fifty_ degrees. It would always be *two fife zero* because the other way could be misheard as two fifteen. The one a few seconds before TACO gave the heading the operator did say _two five zero._

I noticed you changed the mark 44 torpedo like in the original scene to a mark 46 torpedo in this scene. I like this version of the RNZAF P-3 Orion sinking a Russian sub scene better than the original preview version

@@TheWarAtHome the Orion scene reminded me of the intro scene with the frigate in Tomorrow Never Dies. Same intensity and urgency and also so believable and realistic! I like the late 80s setting with the old livery and planes too. Very cool to see.

It is, and it's nowhere near perfect yet, will get there, when I'm animating the mouths for talking, I'm secretly cursing the past-version of myself that wrote all the dialogue lol.

It happened more than once. No Torpedo launch though. The kiwi cracker stackers would have painted Taniwhas on the ordinance if they had thought of it and were allowed to😂

funny you mention that, we do have some limited merch, T-shirts, caps and posters. We had a big dust up with facebook for trying to advertise it (which seems ridiculous), will be looking at getting that back up in the near future.

Bear in mind this is set in 1989, in that time our defence forces were pretty damn capable (we still had our combat wing of the Air Force and at least a scout level armoured unit, and this timeline diverges in 1979, ten years earlier with the world being less 'Glasnost' and 'Perestroika' so world threats led to our defence forces in the 80s being a lot more proactive. In saying that NZ is always going to be a small nation, so we're never going to be the level and likes of the US, UK or Australia, however as a small nation when we do fight, we punch above our weight. :)

@@TheWarAtHome we have never had enough defence forces to defend New Zealand Australia certainly hasn’t either I watch the army do an exercise in South Canterbury about a year ago the equipment they had was absolutely and equated we couldn’t defend Christchurch little loan anything else but we want to get ourselves involved in this war in the Middle East which by the way we’re backing the wrong team because it’s about protecting the American petrodollar working for the corporations in the banks

@@davidboyd8113 I guess he would say Australia buying Nuke subs just made the Southern hemisphere a Nuclear target. Be careful of Judith rants as its proven she has mental health issues and is more than likely just looking for some seat on some corporate board after politics. Save our Tax dollars on building humanity instead of profit for the military industrial complex shareholders, look at America's society of hate and division where they just kill each in the name of weapons manufacturers profits.
