In 1987, Patrick Swayze won hearts and became the male heartthrob of the eighties in DIRTY DANCING. So what would be his follow-up? Becoming an action icon in the amazing cult-classic ROAD HOUSE. The legend of Crazy Swayze was born in what producer Joel Silver promised would be the greatest drive-in B-movie of all time, and he was right. Swayze plays Dalton, a "cooler" - basically meaning he's the John Wick of bar bouncers - who's hired to clean up a notorious bar called "The Double Deuce", only to run afoul of the villainous Wesley (Ben Gazzara), who rules the town with an iron fist. Along the way, he falls in love with the town doctor (the gorgeous Kelly Lynch), with his erstwhile mentor (Sam Elliot) in tow. A good time is guaranteed for all in this latest installment of REEL ACTION!

It is so funny watching Patrick Swayze jump. Since he is a dancer it is so graceful and fluid. Dang near looks like he is flying. There was such a beauty about him.

Roadhouse is one of the all time greatest guilty pleasure movies. It’s a complete product of its 1980s time period and even though it’s not Shakespeare, the film manages to hit all the right marks and still stands as a super entertaining movie. Patrick Swayze is the King of Cool in this movie and the fact that he did all of his own stunts as well as all the other actors, gives this movie a certain sense of grit. The sleazy bar location adds a layer of southern grit making it even more enjoyable in my opinion. This movie doesn’t take itself too seriously and it’s definitely not pretentious in any way which is why I find it strange that some people give this movie a lot of shit. You take it for what it is, an action romp involving a bar/ night club and a bouncer trying to do the right thing while fighting a corrupt town. I freaking love this movie and I’m glade you gave it some love and attention.

If I remember correctly (haven't watched the movie in about 20 years) the giving away of the car was because he buys an old beater to drive to work, which will likely be vandalized by angry patrons that have been "cooled" by him.

It's a good enjoyable action movie of its time. Swayze was a class act; RIP. Jeff Healy, the late great is right, outstanding on the soundtrack. Love Roadhouse. And Sam Elliott to boot. Legendary! And the line; "A polar bear fell on me" followed by Jeff Healys great rendition of " When The Night Comes Falling From The Sky".

This was my first Patrick Swazye movie and I've seen as many of his other films as I could. RIP Pat😇 Ghost, The Outsiders, Dirty Dancing and Red Dawn would be good starts for more of him. I just re-watched this and have come to the conclusion that Dalton is my favorite Swazye character.

An unapologetic good-time "guy's" movie. Kick-ass action, a rocking blues soundtrack, some T & A, this one's got it all (even a monster truck). Sam Elliot is so cool in everything he does. And Ben Gazzara played his role so tongue-in-cheek, he was obviously enjoying himself. A good, fun movie all around.

Haha that scene where Swayze is doing his tai chi in his yard. I remember a little bit after Road House came out, there was some dude with a mullet in his 30s or 40s that lived on the corner of my street that would do 'karate' in the front yard, practising his kicks and nunchuck skills LOL He'd set up a bunch of 'karate stations' for his various exercises and poses. Okay there Swayze. He probably though he was a total badass lmao

Seriously, the only thing KZfaq ads do is piss me off because of the ludicrousness of the product, the horrible acting and when they are more than a minute long, they won't even tell you what the product is until the last 10 seconds of the video!! I watched this movie recently and can attest to its awesomeness. It’s macho fromage but done in a way that makes it really enjoyable. As silly and unrealistic as most characters are, they are likable (or detestable) but most importantly believable. Who knew there was an underground network of bouncers and that Swayze a legendary almost mythical figure known in those circles? ;) Bonus that jeff healey is in it too.

As crazy as the movie sounds, it's based in the true story of Ken Rex McElroy. A town bully that burned down peoples farms, homes, businesses, married a 13 year old, and was arrested and let go by the police each and every time. The cops didnt do anything about it, he would cause trouble everywhere he went especially the bars. After he shotgun a store owner, it was the last straw and the whole town killed him. 2:40 The whole swapping a beater car for his real lux ride, isn't a zen thing, it's practicality. The junker is just so that if angry patrons of the establishments he works at trash the car in revenge, it doesn't really matter. He can't drive both cars to the next place he's working at if it's across the country and the junker isn't worth trying to ship here. Giving it to some homeless dude in the film is just a matter of opportunity and to give a sense of his nomadic rootless lifestyle, and sure, his underlying philosophic view on life, but really, it just makes practical sense. Awesome film too.

If you were not there you do not know. As terrible as this seems now, when it came out it was the John Wick AND the matrix of Bouncer action films. We had NEVER seen fights shot and cut like this. It seemed like the future. True story, even if we did think he would be bigger.

Can't believe I never watched this movie before until last night. This would only be better if Dalton was played by Jon Taffer. At least then it would be more believable when the old man villain can take it to Dalton. The bar totally belongs in a video game as it transforms itself as Dalton gains XP! I dunno. I guess I was waiting for a movie against rival bars and bouncers but this turned into World's End, but the aliens were over the hill 80's cheeseballs!

One of my favourite movies of all time, but I preferred the Double Deuce the way it was to be honest. Did you see how boring the place became after Dalton took over? It seems that Dalton sucks the life out of everywhere he works.
