This is a Road Rage incident in Bangalore that happened with me yesterday when a Ola driver physically assaulted me and tried to snatch my phone!
I took a ride with this violent Ola driver and paid for the ride with my credit card during the ride.
After the ride, he demanded extra payment (coz of some route he took that had extra charges, which I never told him to take but I was ok paying that).
I checked my app, it showed that payment was done with the green tick ✅
I showed him the app that I already paid but he didn't comply. And then what happened was shocking:
He came running out of the car and pushed me on my chest with both hands to the side of the road.
I lost balance and as I was trying to recover- he barged towards me and tried to snatch my phone.
I tried to hold onto my phone with all my strength and got some minor bruises from his fingernail on my left hand.
I was totally in shock and my friend who was there with me started recording after that.
You can see that I have confronted him that- "why did you push me and why did you try to snatch my phone?"
But he did confess too in the video about the pushing and snatching. He didn't even care that I said I will make a police complaint as if he isn't bothered by it.
After I called the Ola emergency number, police was informed, and they arrived after 20 minutes.
When the police arrived we explained the situation but the solution police gave was- they asked the driver to tell me and sorry and that's it!
That's the settlement I got, he didn't even say sorry and he left after I paid the toll fee.
I had no problem in paying the extra but who gave him the right to assault me? forget about pushing me, he doesn't even have the right to lay one finger at me.
He was very violent and we felt unsafe as I had a female passenger with me too who was terrified by the whole ordeal.
Such kinds of drivers are a threat to the safety of passengers.
Imagine such an incident happening during the night on a quiet and dark road what if he assaulted me and ran away with my phone?
What would I have done then? What if I were alone? What if it happened with someone else?
If someone can be so violent in broad daylight, imagine them at night and dropping someone on dark and quiet roads!
I urge to take strict action against this driver and take proper verification on why he was so violent and why would he physically assault someone!
Dear Ola and also Uber please make sure such kind of drivers are not allowed to take rides, it's a threat to the safety of the passengers. Run a proper verification of this driver.
I'm happy to share his name and car number if Ola or Uber needs it, not sharing publically for now.
I've taken hundreds of Ola and Uber rides and never had to face such horrible experience, I just hope no one has to go though this ever again!

But what can you do, I mean most of the BIg tech giants establish their centres in south India. Wish they could set up centres in other parts of India as well like kanpur, lucknow, Punjab.Companies too are responsible for this plight. They forcefully send you to Bangalore and here you have to struggle against localities.

Brother this thing happened to me also, my story is something like that I booked an ola auto my fare was rs 80 but after reaching to the destination he asked to pay me rs 280. When I protested he became aggressive and voilent finally to avoid the seen in the public I paid rs 280 quietly. But later I wrote complaint to the ola grivence cell they replied that they are unable to help me in this matter but still I didn't give up I wrote complaint to their higher authority and also in the review cell of play store (its still there you can check), then finally after 5 months ola solved my problem. But those five months made me hopeless😢😢😢.

Happend to me while returning from Kolkata airport to howra railway jn..this ola driver aggressively asking for extra parking money..which was already included in the trip...he tried to snatch my phone...but some guys interfered and he backed down... pathetic experience with ola😑

But Hindi is the official language of India even your South Indian educated fellows knows this they are just against Hindi being national language. Don't live in imaginary world. Hindi is official language because it is widely spoken and understood throughout India then kannada or Tamil. Go and read you'll even get this in constitution about Hindi being the official language. South Indians are doing business in Northern states, working in Defense, Professor of AIIMS OR IIT, or Advocate in High Court.. they speak in Hindi not the official language of the respective states like Bengali, Assamese, Gujrati, Odia, Punjabi, Haryanvi etc

The driver doesn't look or sound like a rogue person. I am sure he tried to snatch your phone because the payment didn't get through and you tried to walk away. That's not how things work mate. You have to ensure the payment has gone through before walking away. This is drama on your part

The root cause of these kind of incidents is uncontrolled, heady migration of people from other states. Kannadigas are not getting enough jobs. Most highly paid jobs are going to outsiders.

This isn't a problem that is unique to Karnataka - many countries face this. Sometimes, having certain quotas can help. But stifling foreign talent (that is often superior due to a larger pool/diversity factors) will only hurt development.

What a stupid guy, the driver is just concerned about his payment and he is making silly arguments such as haath kyun lagaya and all. I have lived across the country and even though banglore drivers have their quirks, they are easiest to deal with. I was just trying to communicate with him in whatever language I knew- which was Hindi and English. Language was invented for the ease of communication, not to create tribalism and differences. Please clear out your filthy mind brother and think of us as a whole. Our identity is Indian first then regional.

Whole incident happened in West Bengal? Or is that in Bangalore. I don't have to learn Hindi /Bengali to prove my allegiance to Indian nationality. As you said language is invented for communication, so why don't you use kannada ( if you are capable of learning it , if you are differently abled then we respect your disability and we will apologize)in Karnataka respecting local culture...

I don't have to prove my allegiance to Karnataka just cz I'm here now by learning kannada. It's my choice, no one should force or impose anything on anyone. We're here to work and make our career, we could care less about language, we have things to do you know. Come out of that 'crab' mentality that just cz we're not speaking a language, it means we're disrespecting it. Stop this north vs south battle based on language and geography. For folks like you there are so many communal issues going on. Clear your filthy mind, and do something good in your life.
