The black vehicle had absolutely no reason to stop in the middle of the road - if they were having car trouble then they should have turned on their hazards, if they were just scared then they need to practice more before being out in the road and being a menace!

Yup…good thing we’re not all entitle a-holes just deciding which laws we want to follow at a given time. It could’ve been someone from out of town, or a new driver…or someone’s grandma. Have a little grace with one another people…we have all been in the wrong at one point or another and being a jerk like this doesn’t fix a damn thing….and in fact could make it worse. And the whole “I didn’t want to get rear-ended” logic is just nuts…if he’d somehow caused an accident with his little stunt he’d be 100% at fault. If he got bumped in the behind…not at all. And we have an intersection like this near me where they actually have a sign that says “KEEP MOVING” and 9 times out of 10 the driver is yielding despite the huge sign telling them not to…I hope this guy is never at that intersection because he couldn’t pull that s-t there unless he wanted to off-road onto the train tracks.

May be delayed due to weather.

I saw it both going to and coming back home from an amusement park (Six Flags Great America) tonight, along with a lane splitting motorcyclist (lane splitting is illegal in Illinois).

When I moved to the state I live in now from my home state, I saw three people within a span of less than two minutes cut me off to cross like three lanes of traffic on a 5 lane highway, no blinker, just to make sure they didn’t miss the exit in the left hand side. Unbelievable. I was truly floored.

Came here to say this. I see it all the time, people assume truck drivers can see through buildings and around corners and just choose to ignore their car when they pull out. People also expect trucks to wait until it's not possible to inconvenience any car on the road for 10 seconds before they do a maneuver they HAVE to make to continue to do their jobs. Like some countries required civil service, maybe the US should require everyone work for 2 years as a trucker so they will understand. I bet the roads would be MUCH safer, plus the people who choose to stay on to be professional truckers will probably be higher skill people too when the companies can select from literally everyone :)

#17 is why we have traffic jams at stop lights these days. A million car lengths between them and traffic in front on a 35 mph road, which is what made the other driver think it was open after pedestrian cleared. Then did the same thing at that left turn. Had a cop been there, the car driving down the interstate wouldn't have been pulled over for failing to change lanes. The one failing to obey his legally obligated yield sign would have been. We all AGREED to share the laws of the road perspective, when we signed the back of our licenses. Whenever we enter an interstate, we must lawfully obey the yield sign, regardless as to whether or not we're assisted on. It's true (at least we assume nothing is in the cars blind spot on his left) that the car COULD have assisted him and been kind, however, while entering an interstate, we MUST always yield to the one holding the right of way. Like it or not, it's not optional, like getting over and being nice is. This is the correct and lawful perspective. We all agreed to it. If we all remain in agreement, we're all safer.

@@justdave9783 Can confirm. I work in that area and take that stretch daily, to and from. The trucks aren't always the smartest, but almost everyone is already impatient there, putting themselves into situations they could have avoided.

Traffic wasn't clear, it wasn't safe to go, cammer created a more dangerous situation by bullnosing his way past the safe driver. You need remedial driver's ed classes and maybe kindergarten as well so you can properly learn to wait your turn. Drivers are rude, such attitudes, but when I show my piece, complaints cease.....

People need to understand trucks work a bit different. It takes them time to pull out, especially to make a left turn. If they waited until it was 100% clear, they would never move. People need to learn patience.

If multiple lanes of traffic have to brake, merge, or do anything to avoid your truck, because YOU put your truck in THEIR right of way, that's your fault, not theirs.

Oh, good observation. I posted this separately as to how I feel about it in general terms: IDK, I think the cammer is a jerk ...or one who doesn't mind inciting road rage. The guy driving the dark-colored car did not make a horrendously dangerous lane change in front of the cammer. Let me ask you all a question. What good does it do to use a horn AFTER somebody makes a mistake or misjudges speed or distance and inconveniences you by coming too close to your car???? NOTHING, it will most likely irritate the other person into raging --like what happened here. They're not going to say to themselves after hearing you blast your horn "gee, I cut that guy off, I guess I better be a better driver or pay more attention to my driving." Maybe a few will but the vast majority of drivers will NOT say that to themselves as we are all narcissistic when behind the wheel and think we never make mistakes. I'm older than most of you. I'm a retired commercial driver and started driving semis in the early 1970s before CDLs. Back then, truckers were considered knights of the road and hardly ever rage with each other (or very very seldom) but also would never rage with passenger cars the way truck drivers do now. I learned never to use a horn unless it would PREVENT an accident. To this day, I subscribe to that and I can't remember the last time I used the horn on my personal vehicles. I'm a very defensive driver to begin with but if somebody "cuts me off" and I can avoid a collision, I just let it go and continue on with my day. I'm not going to change the driving behavior of these assholes on the road by sounding my horn ...believe me, it's not going to result in anything good. Just let the assholes be on their way as you will not change the manner in which they drive.

How are you so sure there wasn’t anyone in the left lane? There’s a yield sign, the car failed to yield. People always trying to justify the bad driver and instead blame the driver who knows how to drive.

What red light and stop sign are you referring to? The van driver was like 4 car lengths back from the entrance to that road. There's no Yield sign anywhere. They admitted it was illegal to go around the van. So they know they shouldn't have done it.

So the OP was observing that it must be very difficult for them to have to exist in a world where many things make them stop where, given bad luck, they might be rear-ended. Y'know, like stop signs, red lights, pedestrians, people learning to drive, or realizing they shouldn't drive any longer, etc., if the Cammer has to resort to an illegal maneuver every time they worry about being rear ended, they must have quite a few pending traffic tickets. Just admitting you do something is wrong, doesn't make it okay.
