@@mrzazzaable yea Dyslexci did point out how the lack of grass at a distance has a huge effect on gameplay, and I'm glad someone with a voice is finally addressing it. Anyone who has played dynamic arma scenarios on their own knows how OP it can be to sit with a sniper rifle plinking at enemy soldiers that look from afar as though theyre standing in a barren field of dirt.

Arms 2 OA is still my most played game on steam, possibly ever, around 7-800 hours, rocket league is close to overtaking though and it’ll be quite a sad day when OA isn’t at the top anymore

I don't understand it! After playing all of the ArmA games A2 with all the bugs & bad performance is still my go to game. I've got over 10K hours in it and me and my group still play every Friday & Saturday night like clockwork. We've tried so many times to move on to another ArmA or some other game, but we just keep landing back on A2. I love to support the company and I buy everything Bohemia puts out for ArmA. A3 was impressive and now AR look amazing, but I truly feel I'm going to still be playing A2 on my death bed as an old man lol. BI I just want to say do with A4 whatever helps the company the most and I will still buy it, but my heart is still with A2!

I spent countless hours on it escaping my life. It was an amazing time just because of that.

Yeah I only got a PC last year and spent my teenage years and early 20's watching ARMA pc videos on youtube. So I have alooot of ARMA 3 content to catch up on until 4 releases lol Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated btw :D

It was considered a "standalone expansion" wasn't it? iirc it was basically it's own game that brought in vanilla Arma 2 assets and could play on Arma 2 servers but you could play AO missions without owning Arma 2. May be remembering wrong but yea pretty sure it should have had it's own running scene was basically it's own game lol.

​@@sponggg_7096 I'm sorry what other title in the world does what ARMA does, at its scale, better? Simple put, it exists in its own Genre of MilBox and only things like DCS start getting close. Easy to say Squad has better framerate when its map is like 1/10th size and no AI units.

@@xSP3CTREx just because it's the only game doesn't mean it cant be bad, I have almost 3k hours on arma 3, but I'm still not gonna sit here and pretend there's nothing wrong with the game, the fact that BI took this long has nothing to do with "developing a new engine is hard". It is hard but it's not 10 years hard. There are many, many things wrong with the game, some of them easily fixable, yet still not fixed, some are a result of the engine, probably unfixable, hence why the new engine should have come out 3-4 years ago already (just look at the damn physics, and name a game of the same era with worse physics). BIS had absolutely no plans for the future or coordination when they began working on arma 3, they really only started getting their shit together around the time apex came out.

Yeah the demo was epic. People even created missions for it by decrypting the pbos and writing new missions completely from a text editor.

I use to mod the original demo of OpF creating missions and such. That's like in 2001, 21 or 22 yrs ago... Incredible

@@tehgoat4283 I have seen bricks be smoother than the movement in arma 3. This is a pretty good improvement in comparison, cause its actually smooth, you can change direction without it looking like you are a steel rod with legs like it would in arma 3 lol

Yah mate i started with cold war crisis, spend lots of hours on mission editor, game was amazing but hard as hell, i think it was first massive open world game witch i played.

I started with opération flashpoint too, i was around 11 years old, french speaking child who didn't understand a word in english. Never finish the game, got traumatised by papa bear abandonning me, alone in this forest hunted by shilkas... Time for revenge.

Yeah, the graphics don't matter, but the bugs and performance do. If they can fix the bugs and horrible performance, that will be worth it. Otherwise I'll just move on to another game.

The movement system is very similar to DayZ, which is a good thing in my opinion. Far less clunky than Arma 3.

The animations are more fluid... you can see it in DayZ standalone... it's a hybrid of the old engine and the new Enfusion engine I can tell you it's a lot less clunky and much more fluid and faster now... the animations and controls are way more responsive... and you PROPERLY vault over fences and climb walls and even buildings Vaulting in ArmA is literally an static animation that makes you noclip trough a fence... in DayZ you physically grab the fence and jump over... you do it properly instead of nocliping with a fancy animation lol 💀💀

I mean, nothing is here yet. This is a teaser at best and shows nothing. It's just a confirmation that it exists and is being worked on. If looking at their games tells us anything, expect terrible performance on even high end rigs. Bohemia and performance optimizations is not in their vocabulary.
