For the final installment of Road to the Arnold, we traveled to Lithuania to train with seven-time Arnold Strongman Classic Champion Zydrunas Savickas. "Big Z" has won the contest more than anyone else alive, and he hopes to add another first place medal to his shelf in 2015.

I even googled it, but Lithuanian interwebz being so limited (3kk population equates to like 0 online content...), some people say it came from prison culture... So again- Soviet times... Anyway, FUCK prejudice and GO Žydrūnas!!

STRONGEST MAN WHO EVER LIVED
@TB473
@TB473 8 жыл бұрын
I don't believe any man currently on the earth is the strongest man to ever live. But I will say this. It depends on what you consider strength. Strength is subjective to the sport. As far as squat benching and deadlifting. There are people in powerlifting at way lighter body weights than big z who can put up more on those 3 lifts than him. As far as big z"s overhead strength goes I would say he is probably Definetly the strongest. His overhead pressing strength is very impressive.
@strongmanvideos9109
@strongmanvideos9109 8 жыл бұрын
+Taylor Bass Agreed. But unfortunately, there was an overhead log lift championship in Lithuania last weekend, which Big Z was the host and didn't compete. I think he is retiring... and now the lights would probably go to Brian Shaw in the strongman scene.
@forbesfoofighters
@forbesfoofighters 6 жыл бұрын
Taylor Bass there is nobody in powerlifting who could have totalled more than Big Z at the time you posted this comment. He could have put up a 2500+ raw total if he wanted to. Zydrunas is the strongest man to ever live, no matter how you choose to define strength.

Question: So this guy is one of the most physically powerful men on this planet and he eats 6,000 calories a day. Robert Oberst in one of his videos states that he has anywhere from 18,000 to 20,000 a day and Brian Shaw has about 10lbs of food a day, according to one of HIS videos. Their workout regimens are probably fairly similar as these guys are lifting the same amount of weight, Z probably lifting a bit more due to his records. How does this guy take less intake but still perform to the same level as the other two? Age perhaps? Someone help?
@Florian44790

probably just underestimates his intake. 500g of protein have over 2000 already and that wouldn't really give him any energy for training.

Quality of the protein. Z probably eats mostly real protein...steak, chicken and fish. If you're drinking shakes the protein isn't always accurate. Especially if it's a proprietary blend...those brands you might be getting as little as 5 grams or less of protein when it claims you're getting 30. Supplements aren't regulated so they can get away with it. Just eat real food if you want to grow.

+teanshin "...dont care about cardio..." well for starters 'cardio' consists of low intensity long duration which is useless in all endeavors except more cardio. triathletes are only proficient in triathlon. fitness doesnt carry over to any other activity. Conditioning on the other hand carries over to many activities. Do you think a 300 - 400 pound guy could carry an extremely heavy object over any distance without conditioning? ! No. Any body can run but to lift a heavy object and walk with it or even multiple heavy objects and run with them like strongmen do takes conditioning and a strong efficient heart. I never do cardio. i walk 8 - 9km each day and lift 3 times a week and have a resting hr of 56bpm. im only 176lb but can walk with 260lb.

loggie24 ofc.. some people are just build in different ways.. ever saw a fat somalian ? somalians for example dont have that much fat cells because they were never able to build them up because of the hunger-issues in their country. Thats why its harder for them to keep fat. Ofc thats just a example and ofc there are fat somalians in this world. I have very good genetics too.. I can eat ALOT without gaining much fat, because I have very good metabolism.. unforonately that also means that I have to EAT ALOT if I wanne gain weight. A guy like Zydrunas doesn't have to eat alot and still keeps the fat ressources better. (which is basically energy that you need when you workout for example). My body doesn't even builds them up that fast, even if I would eat alot of fat. Or another example is the rapper Big Pun who basically die'd because his metabolism kept so much fat that he wasn't able to use all this energy which was leading to having extreme overweight, even tho' he didnt even ate that much. Alot of people have that problem, because their bodies aren't build for this modern world where you can get that much food.
