I'm surprised by the low MPG you guys are getting. I have a 2020 4x4 with sport package, all stock. Recently got 24.5 MPG around town (keep in mind, my around town is 40 mph speed limit with most lights 1 mile apart). On a recent trip with a Kawasaki 700 ATV, generator and cooler in the back I got 22.4 MPG with a speed of 66 MPH. All my calculations are based on calculating (not the display). My display is pretty close to the actual after I went in and recalibrated.

To add to my post. Seems that now the weather is warmer and we are on summer gas, the MPG has improved. This makes sense since summer gas has more energy than winter gas and a warm vehicle should get better mileage than a cold vehicle.

In my F150, 2.7 ecoboost I found that sweet spot for highway MPG is between 65-70 MPH. As soon as you break the 70 MPH, the indicated MPG begins to dip. The indicated vs. actual MPG is usually within 1/2 MPG. Of course there’s a lot that plays into that number; wind, traffic, merging, acceleration, etc. Good video!
@cmdrdarwin3682
@cmdrdarwin3682 3 жыл бұрын
When I tested a 2.7, I noticed this also. I live in Texas & our highway speed limits are 75-80 mph, depending on populated areas & then in the big cities, it drops to 60-65 mph. In my opinion, these sweet spots are not in line with American driving. Texas is the 2nd most populous state (soon to be the most) & the largest land mass state in the continental US. Many states west of the Mississippi have high speed limits. These mpg ratings are really a joke, as they are not obtainable & therefore false advertising.

@@cmdrdarwin3682 Yep, I grew up in TX but have lived in Eastern NC for 25 years. Mostly back roads, 2-lane 55mph around here. You’re certainly correct that the EPA suggested mileage doesn’t meet today’s requirements. I believe they still base it on mileage requirements from 40 years ago when interstates were still 55mph. That’s why manufacturers design their vehicles to meet those standards, outdated though they may be.

I'm just watching your video for the first time as I'm thinking about a Ranger for a used truck for myself. You can shut your adaptive cruse off in settings of most all vehicles as I see some here have suggested. Here is a way that may help to keep it on even during the bad weather like snow and wet dirt ect. Take a can of WD 40 silicone spray and when you vehicles are clean and dry just spray each sensor with a few coats each this can really help stop most of the junk from sticking onto your sensors and dripping right off like a good wax in the rain! A product like rainX will work too! Greg Michigan 😎 🤙

Was literally going going to say that. But car companies know that customers won't hit the numbers, so they say " your mileage will vary." And yet people still try to sue car companies over it. I wish more customers knew about the dozens of factors that affect fuel economy. However, I gotta ding the auto manufactures for testing fuel economy at such a low speed. Totally unrealistic. That being said, Tim did pretty good for driving 80 mph, in snow, no cruise for a while, and off-road tires. Probably could get close to 30 mpg if the speed wasn't as high.

I think the 2.3L EcoBoost is a far superior option to say the 3.3L base V6 the F-150 uses. Sure, at 6,500rpm the V6 makes 20 more hp, but it is way lacking in torque, which the 2.3 brings in hard and at a very low rpm. The 2.3 EcoBoost has a steel crank with almost the same stroke as a 460 big block, and the turbocharger is hardly leaning on the internals of the engine. Everything under hood is fairly easy to access too! Turbos do not scare me!

When it deactivates not only does it effect adaptive cruise control, also effects pilot 360 system, so lane keeping, tailgating warning etc. will be turned off. Unless it's a diesel your torque doesn't come nowhere close to the ranger, if your is a v6 it torque is about 269 and the rangers is 310.

Unless you have the deisel youre not comming close to the torque this thing throws out. Throw on a 165$ tune and you're at just about 400 ft.lbs. just ordered my tune.

Nevermind the truck...$46K LARGE?! R U serious?! Oh...I get it now....Put a ridiculously high inital MSRP and THEN let the customer pay a bit less! Cause there is no F-ing way I'd ever pay that much for this truck...Or Any thruck in this segment! That's just ford attempting to extort from the customer. Yeah I know...The all do...But this? No...No thank you ford.

This is just sad! Hope no one has actually paid even 40k for a ranger. 22 mpg. That could be topped by almost any truck on the road.

Did you see how fast he was driving? 80 to 85 mph will drastically reduce fuel economy, especially in a pickup truck.

46k for a midsize truck. The people at ford must love going to Colorado and smoke that good marijuana because that just ridiculous. I'll stick to my 2017 Nissan frontier pro 4x got it used with 15,600 miles for $23,300. New $36,700. And will out last the ranger.

@@Chuckers84 the point I was getting at is let me know if you can buy a fully loaded ranger under 30K with less than 25K. No you can't. A ford raptor is over 49k in asia. And I bet you that a frontier will out last that ranger. Just like a typical Ford I give it 5 years and you will start to see imperfections in the fit and finish.

@@Chuckers84 No they aren't loud the one you were next to must have been deleted. Plus who judges if a diesel is good by it's sound, the 12 valve Cummins is by far the most reliable and by far the noisiest....

Yup that used to be the case. But the 3rd gen Tacoma is terrible. Toyota made a big mistake with that engine/tranny combo.

guy proulx just cause it sells more every year doesn’t mean it doesn’t have issues. In that case the Ford F-150 must be the best truck on the planet. The Tacoma has been the best damn mid sized truck for years no doubt. But my 3rd gen was terrible and just looking on the forums there’s thousands of people with the same issue. It’s still a serviceable truck but that engine/tranny combo has opened the door. Which is why you see everyone getting back in the mid sized marked.

guy proulx the word has gotten out. A lot of people have gone back to 2nd Gen Tacoma’s, Chevy, Ford, or Jeep. The Tacoma is still running off it’s reputation no doubt. The 4th gen Tacoma will hopefully remedy the problem. Should be an interesting race in the next few years.

Tacoma/ Foreign sub-standard weak metal.... Tacomas have a long history of frame issues and in 2020 it's still the same.... You cant beat American iron and I can tell you that Ford has a better frame.
