I walked in to look at the cyber truck this morning after seeing this video. I live near Buena Park. The team said Josh is no longer with Tesla and they are unsure why. Too big of a coincidence that he is gone after this boy post this about Josh. Tailosive EV clearly is a clout chaser and has not respect for people’s privacy.

Model Y 4680 66kWh installed, 62kWh usable. It's more or less gonna be double stacked version of the same pack with slight evolutionary energy increase per cell. It probably checks out.

So the nice Tesla showroom manager shared info that could get him trouble and rather than not saying anything, you rewarded his kindness or honesty by throwing the info out there knowing Tesla higher ups my go after him if that was not info he should have been sharing. Hmm.... For what it is worth the Tesla community has been estimating around 120 for the battery. I believe it was a delivery service guy who had shared a video of the inside of a Cybertruck and from what info was being displayed it could be worked out to be 120. In the future, when someone shares info that could be traced backed to them and might get them in trouble, you might not want to share it. That gives you a rep as someone not to be trusted by Tesla employees or other brands.

A 123 kwh battery does not seem enough to achieve a 350 miles range which I think is important to be class leading

@@4literv6 Good point although the Rivian is more a mid size whereas the Cybertruck is a full size (72 inc bed versus 54), so not exactly the same class. For the Silverado, I am skeptical GM will ever reach volume production given their recent EV deployment setbacks, a huge battery pack of 230 kwh, a weight above 8000 pounds and a payload capacity of only 1300 pounds (if the info I Googled is corect)

If Tesla doesn’t price the Tri/Dual in the stratosphere it’s going to be a huge sales success. Buyers will get past the polarizing styling if it offers better value than the competition. If Tesla prices it around the Model X price point, $80k - $95k, the CT will be a niche vehicle that only affluent buyers can afford. I bet that less than a dozen senior employees at Tesla are privy to the upcoming MSRP’s. They are keeping it bank vault tight until the reveal on Thursday.

@@meansq The primary thing is that the F150 lightning is a ICE truck body. Has a lot of space in front of the passenger cabin. The cyber truck reduced that and increased the bed length by a foot while reducing the overall length of the truck. The dimensions are out there.

All these people talking about fitting in a garage but in the last 10 years I haven't seen a garage that wasn't completely full of life's other stuff. The emptiest garage I've seen was one that had a pool table in it. That stainless steel needs to breathe, better to keep it fresh in the great outdoors.

you can switch out larger wheels with off-set rims or wheel spacers, but larger wheels will kill range.

It's not very aerodynamic. (Still better than most pickups tho) Sharp edges are a big no no for that, but i'm sure it was a compromise they were willing to make. Elon Musk even said that on a podcast.

Exactly and the sharp edges are part of the concepts, otherwise it would not be possible to make load-bearing outer-shell (part of the so- called exoskeleton) from 3mm thick cold rolled stainless steel

The sharp edges, aside from the ultra-cool style, are necessary for the manufacturing process. Could it have better aerodynamics if it had a few curves in the right places? Probably, but the drag coefficient is so low now, that there wouldn't be much improvement. There are plenty of sharp edges on fighter jets, It all depends where you put them.

@@Mrbfgray no figures on how many pre-orders are still active, since there will be no $39K Cybertruck as originally claimed, and all the real truck makers have already launched EV Trucks that are practical and well equipped with features truck owners want. Guess we will see, but it will be several more years of waiting after it is already several years late coming to market. Tesla for such a highly valued company, had better step up new model introductions, and focus more on high volume selling platforms, like a sub compact SUV for under $30k.

Only Rivian is currently offering a pickup anyone wants and it's still crippled, not able to roadtrip effectively like all non-Teslas, that's slated to improve dramatically tho in couple yrs. Have you priced a new gas or diesel F, GM or Chrysler recently?....hard pressed to get fullsize rig for close to $50k. $80 to $100k the norm. GM out of the game entirely and Ford floundering. 4 to 5 yrs is typical industry product cycle, tho it's coming down toward 3 apparently. If you are still stuck in: "It's just a CAR company!!" Then yeah it's fairly valued for 20M/yr by 2030ish, a stretch goal but def possible. Willful ignorance if that's one's take, tho stock valuation has nothing to do with this thread.

That'll be disappointing. You can find that feature in a Chevy crossover but not a Tesla whose (one of) big selling point is the tonneau cover that blocks the back window? Seems like a no brainer, especially if the camera is already there

@@burgers8pretty sure there's a small window above cover. If you look at the back, you'll see the cover doesn't go all the way to the top. If you've ever been in a tesla, the mirrors are half a step up from useless in my opinion,so no difference here.

Build quality is going to be a very big challenge due to the shape of this vehicle. The straight edges make it very difficult. Curves are much easier to hide quality issues

I wished there was a CyberTruck at a showroom near me. I think the nearest CyberTruck to me it an easy 12 hour drive. Now the alternate routing is part of the network expected usage. If one set of chargers look like they are busy then it will try to find a lowest demand charger.

Kinda funny seeing someone compliment Tesla on doing things like having a full rear bumper with a step, larger mirrors, big tires, you know stuff every truck made by every other manufacturer has had for decades. These are expected features. Rivian not having a separate bumper is actually a bad thing. Truck owners have features that we expect. Not having these minimum design features would disqualify it for many. Granted, its design is already extremely polarizing and from a practical standpoint may not be as useful for things like bed access. But I’m sure for those who really like (or at least don’t mind) its appearance and don’t need to be in the bed constantly will enjoy it. Hopefully pricing is under 60k for dual motor and its useful range is adequate.

Not to say panel gaps and poor build quality are not an ongoing issue for Tesla, but I don't necessarily think that the way the top corners of the front windshield interfaces with the body is an indication of poor panel gaps, but might be a necessary compromise due to the non-curved shape of the windshield and body. Maybe they tried various things and this was the compromise they ended up with.

The video quality from the 15 Pro is unreal. Especially inside the showroom. Wow. Although the exposure and white balance changes expose the fact it’s a phone camera.

I think it looks nice, but my concern is how it will reflect light. Could it be that you're driving down the road and a Cybertruck passes you and bounces sunlight just right and blinds you without intending to? There's a reason that cars aren't usually this shiny.
