Second in a series of videos on the efforts to convert the out of service C&G railway from Greenwood to West Point, MS into a recreational trail for public use. Johnny Mack Morrow, Louis Sherrod and Richard Beattie of the C&G Rail Trail Coalition take another road trip to discover the impact of the Tanglefoot Trail on New Albany and Ingomar, Mississippi. Bicycle tourism has been cited as the catalyst for uplifting the economy and quality of life in the small towns along the Tanglefoot Trail route. Betsey Hamilton & Jill Smith, trail advocates, Dorothy Denton, Steve Fitzgerald, & Jerry McLendon, trail enthusiasts, and Jeff Olson, restauranteur testify about the impact that has exceeded all expectations of the rails-to-trails conversion in their towns.
EDITOR NOTE: Betsey Hamilton and Jill Smith are identified as "founders" because they were two of the several early organizers from Pontotoc and Chickasaw counties that later comprised the Recreational District for Tanglefoot Trail, where Betsey served as chairman for several years.
