I have played the violin for over 10 years but stopped after a few years. I discovered this band from watching your reaction video to “Ghost” and been on a rabbit hole since then. Easily top 3 bands for me. This band inspired me to pick up the violin again. Eddie singing/screaming while playing the violin is such a skill and is very difficult to do. Great reaction!

I played violin growing up. For me I’d imagine singing and also screaming while playing would be very hard. He’s gotta be amazing with a violin to do what he does. This band is absolutely insane

Not going to lie. His vocals made me tear up the way he sings and screams, it just sounds a lot like Chester. I loaded this video blind didnt even look at what was the band. Never heard them before. The whole band just sounds SO GOOD! They are going in my playlist probably permenently. Thank you for the new band. I'm going to go cry in nostalgia and revel in the new amazing band (for me).

I love how Chasing Shadows really brings the story together and adds small elements from each video to continue the story. The blindfold he's carrying from Ghost, the statue resembling the figure from Temptation, the skull he dug up also from Ghost, the light from Heaven in Hiding. Did I miss any?

This made me cry and when I showed it to my girlfriend it made her cry too. Imminence is one of our favorite bands, and I’m so glad that I bought tickets to see them in Germany next year. I can’t wait for this album🤘

Violin player here, well Viola. And the practise aspect I would say depends on the difficulty of the singing and playing part. If you for example only have long notes on the violin, no it is not hard to sing at the same time. But if you are playing faster parts with more notes you could use some practise to synchronise it. Then it also depends on how long you have been doing it, for me who has never done it; I should practise. But for this singer who do it regularly there might be easy to do it for a new song since he has done it for this long.

As another violist, I agree that lots of practice would be needed to be able to play and sing without one action impacting the sound quality/tone of the other, let alone adding in the harsh vocal like Eddie did. Eddie has clearly put in a huge number of practice hours on top of serious talent to be able to do this with Imminence.

Viola player here. Agreeing with fellow violist Zabina here in the comments, singing while playing is definitely a distinct technique and requires specific practice. I caught moments in the video where he was playing without his chin in the chinrest even while not singing, which means he’s probably practiced that specific method quite a bit. Ordinarily when playing a string instrument, supporting it from above and below with your shoulder and chin helps your left hand to move more freely since it doesn’t also have to keep the scroll (or headstock, if you will) from drooping down. But if A) you’ve trained your left hand to do double duty or B) it doesn’t have to do much in that passage anyway, i.e. long notes with few changes, you can probably get away without the chinrest, freeing your jaw up for singing. Might have to check out their other videos for more metal violin, I love when string instruments show up in unlikely genres!

This band is killing it! Dark Night of The Soul. The violin cradles you while the rest of the song confronts the shadow. So far, I love all of the songs that are on the new album.

I want to see this as a marching band show with full band imagine the chills. These songs are AMAZING. As someone who has listened to the genre since around summer 08 these songs definitely rank in the top 50 even after the past 13 years of metalcore

Imminence must be absolutely huge in Europe because their video's are amazing and the sound/production of their songs is top notch....I don't know anyone else in my corner of the country here in CO that likes them so I can't help but think they're massive in Europe and have only just begun if they can also tour here in the US. I will pay any amount to see those guys live if they come here.

Hey Tank, fun bonus fact: when this video premiered, it was only titled "Chasing Shadows". Alleviate was a hidden single. To be honest, it was cool that way, because we got to experience two beautiful songs while we were expecting one. :) The title got renamed after a few days, and Alleviate is now officially a single.

ummm, how did i miss the first reaction to this band??!! Going to watch it now but gotta say, im completely blown away by this! I've always had a fascination with metal bands who are phenomenal storytellers ever since I first heard Symphony X. Im still amazed by what I just saw, gotta go check out the other reaction and then go pre-order the album. Im already confident the album will be one of my favorites! Once again I find myself picking up music by a band I dont know if I would have heard of without your reaction, thanks for the exposure!!!

I‘m so glad about the things you said about Imminence. All these things are exactly my opinion since their last album „Turn the light on“ . This was an overwhelming masterpiece. I love their music sooo much. And their acoustic stuff are unique too. Just love for this kind of art they re given to us all. Saw them several times live and next year i have the chane to see them two times. Acoustic tour in a church and at the Heaven in Hiding Tour. That will be great again. You should really listen to their last album if you have time. Congrats to you for over 100000 subscribers now. Knowing and following you since Hypa Hypa. You‘ve earned that for sure. And Imminence would earn soooo much more love and i hope they really will become one of the big bands and then don‘t change themselves. They are pretty nice guys.

Your discord guy nailed it. Its Eddie's emotion, the relatable and deep emotional lyrics in their songs and the journey the songs/production/engineering/videos take you on. You FEEL their music. Not many bands can do that anymore, its just music you like. Imminence, spiritbox, the plot in you, dayseeker are some of the best at conveying emotions in my opinion, especially recently.

I've been waiting for this one, Tank, and as usual, you never disappoint. You hit the nail on the head about "connection". While the violin is unique, they're not doing anything especially groundbreaking...but how they connect is where they set themselves apart. I lost my Dad on Father's Day, and my girlfriend and I broke up in early Fall, so the content of their work appeals so much to me. It's almost like this is Emo Metal Core, and I'm here for it...and I'm always here for your reactions. Thanks, brother.

In my opinion IMMINENCE is one of the greatest modern METALCORE bands! They are following their common thread but make EVERY SONG DIFFERENT in their specific way. In time they get better and way better with every song. I hope they will be AT THE TOP of the metalcore genre in a few years. Even if only it were just the perfect VIOLIN PARTS that make them great, they would be better then most currently rising up bands.

Man you def know your stuff. Called that rain scene like the first minute of the video haha and yep ive said that forever now being a musician it takes alot of practice to make something technical but to make something from the heart that connects to ppl and has groove is a way more creative thing. Both take talent for sure but i personally connect more to the feels over anything else as a fan

Imminence is a super underrated band... I think they're badass!!! I feel that instead of chasing fame first, I feel that they're choosing the beauty of art and connection to their listeners first. Glad you mentioned their bundles, these guys put so much effort in their merch. Ended up ordering both premium sets (60 and 150ish ones) cause I was so hyped by their content 😅 Potential spoiler alert : The cryptex in the music video reads "heaven" at the end. Might be the same keyword for the one in the bundle, since it is a 6 letter cryptex as well.

Emotional songs and videos... as the two songs not being next to each other and Alleviate being a more "lovy dovy song" i am willing to almost bet that on the day of the launch thei'll release a banger... and i'm thinking it will be Moth to a flame! The Banshee Scream in Chasing Shadows... still gives goosebumps and i've heard a ton of times these 2 songs! They're unique but i disagree with you on them being "groundbreaking" on the style they're on. I think the emotional charge they put on the songs and the harmonics that elevate the vocals even more are something that are not common on the style they're on. But i'm not music expert i just listen to it. I thank the day tidal shuffled these guys into the "bands you might like" auto playlist! Great Job Tank 🙌💪

Hey Tank! I know this video is older, let's hope you still see this: Are you planning on checking out older Imminence videos? The Seventh Seal and Wine & Water would be my recommendations. Both are much more Hardcore, but it's a great place to see where the band is coming from and both are incredibly good. The Sickness is also great, but it's closer to the modern stuff, the video is also more artistic as well. Cheers to you and thanks for a lot of great reviews! Always a pleasure to return to you!

Haha, in your facts it was written that one of there influences is 30 Seconds to Mars. Mayebe that's why my mind told me to sing "come break me down [...]" while I listened to the chorus of Aleviate. Really like Immenence's music though

Honestly to me the lyricism is what connects me to them. Like I did with heaven in hiding being my favorite single. When he said I've paid the Piper so set me free. I just found the lyrics interesting and poignant

Regarding why two songs in one. When it premiered they only had Chasing Shadows in the promo marketing and title of the clip. I did watch the premiere live and when Alliviate started, the chat lost it and went in to overdrive! It was really cool. Alliviate could be my song of the year. It’s just so damn well-executed and epic.

I'll have to add these guys to my listening list. COuple other good ones have come out recently - Feuerschwanz with Memento Mori and Bloodywood with Gadaar. Both certainly worth checking out!
