Great admirations must be given to those devoted Chinese professional engineers, technicians, supporting staffs for their devotion to their work at passing their technical skills to the Africans and upgrading their life styles!!! This is how Chinese promote PEACE, HAPPINESS AND PROSPERITY TO THE AFRICAN NATIONS instead of inciting violence and unrest in the world!!!! I am an outsider from Australia looking into the marvellous work the Chinese is doing for the African Nation!!!! BRAVO TO CHINA!!!!

This was beautiful to watch. It brought back many memories of my own life experiences, having worked 20 years in the Railway Industry. I found the cooperation between Kenyans and The Chinese quite fascinating and beautiful,,,, It was indeed educational and respectful... To think that Kenyans had to learn Chinese languages and also learn the intricacies of running a railroad is an amazing thing... I remember early in my career in the railroad industry, that The Chinese Visited us in America and came to learn about the Railway, and were shown around.... Many of the functions that were taught to The Kenyans are recognizable to myself and no doubt others, as these are common techniques used in the Industry with modest improvements over years. I must admit that the Chinese have done a great job and the greatest joy of all, is to see My African People enjoy the benefit of their resources... It brings joy to my heart in the Diaspora,,,, Much honor and respect to Abba Yah and Yahusha for helping the relationship to work mutually well,,,, and Much respect to The Chinese and The Kenyans for a world-class example of mutual respect and cooperation in this collaboration..... Amen??

Well done! This documentary brings pride and joy and smiles to everyone that watches the great work and success of both Chinese and Kenyans. I don't know any other Asian train pilots besides the Chinese and Japanese and now Kenyans using hand gestures pointing ahead while piloting the train? Reason for pointing? To indicate the key points on the track that the pilot is fully alert and aware. Allow me to finish it off by saying I am impressed by how well those lovely women speak Mandarin. Kudos to all.

i am amused reading comments somewhere about how the train being slow and etc. Cutting down the distance from a 10 hours journey to just 4 is a huge step forward. Some even compare it to HSR but not taking into the consideration if the country and it's people are ready for it, not to mention the burden of having one if they are not ready. I hope these small steps of better connectivity will bring great leap of hope to the country.

What is the big deal if you learn and speak a little mandarin? After 5 years when china leaves, these girls can teach their countrymen in whatever language they want. Also, i am sure there are male drivers as well, they just dont show them. They need more than 5 female drivers to drive these trains i hope. Yes, the kenyans paid for train, but with a large chinese loan. Sometimes, even if you are willing to pay, others like the west, may not want to sell to you. Money does not always talk.

Michael Jackson made a music video called "We are the world". It was USA for Africa and it was to raise donations for Africa. America gives billions in aid to them but Michael Jackson used his own personal wealth and donations to help them. The music videos played all over America in the 1980s and there was a phone number at the end of the video so people could call in and donate. He also sang this song worldwide in his concerts from America to Russia to South Korea I'm glad China is helping because Africa needs all the help they can get

So, Africans are being train as drivers and have to speak foreign language on their own land.? well, better than our standard situation now. But, I think Africa has the Material and the Man power that can compete with Chinese and not being dependent on China. African leaders need to focus on getting technical knowledge from our colonial masters like China did to USA and the Europeans. Africa can build those trains if we can focus on getting those technologies. Chinese companies are just expanding into Africa and if African are not careful, all big companies in Africa will be own by Chinese and most Africans will be employees instead owners. Chinese will not allow any African company to spread like that in China. African, please don’t ever think Chinese are in Africa because they love Africans. Please Chinese or Europeans don’t like Africans, they are there to take Africans wealth away. Period.!!!

The messed up part is that they gave the females the locomotive operator jobs. While we all know that is a high paying job there, meaning that fathers of families were rejected. All this for a political statement. This was a wrong thing to do, when it is males that take care of families in that society.

These female drivers are for passenger trains only. Certainly they got limelight since this SGR project opened for passenger service 18 months ahead of schedule, while freight service still has to wait for more tracks being laid at Mombasa port. Male drivers will be responsible for freight trains when freight service starts before the end of this year.

It doesn't matter equal opportunity for all sons and daughters of the motherland. No discrimination of people because of gander. There were many men in the engineering positions than women too.

I thought ppl would be happy to see female figures emerging as a steady social force. It would be a good way to improve female status and a great opportunity too. And I think the efforts of those women should be respected.
