When I worked on semi trucks I wouldn't leave the house unless I was making $500. I think the rates for cars are so low it's hard to make a lot unless your in a metro area where all the jobs are right beside each other

yep lack of food really messes your brain up. i like keeping a can of vienna sausages or sardines in the work truck +a blanket to lay on /sleep with if i have to. the high sodium really helps during the hot days where all the fluids have drained out of your body. i havent found anything that i like that carries a lot of potassium besides bananas. lack of salt and potassium fuck you up the most, drinking water wont help on it own

@@sam3d Most people couldn't tell the difference between an alternator and an A/C compressor. You could charge them an extra $10 to refill their blinker fluid and they would thank you.

Exactly, these engineers seem to go out of their way to make modern cars impossible to work on.

Everything has a reason to be the way it is. Engineers need to be cost effective and efficient. I always used to get mad at this stuff too but after researching extensively it's all relative in order to satisfy as many customers and businesses.

@@cluelessblamer518 It's because manufacturing cost and styling (which drives sales) matter more to the manufacturers than maintainability. Once cars are sold in the used market, they don't matter to the manufacturers anymore. And any repair cost increases will just drive more people to buy new cars. In short, profit matters more to them than people do.

I have a 2012 mzda 6 and to replace a fricking light bulb you either gotta take the whole wheel off or take the bumper off. It’s a pain and place charge like 100+ to change a bulb if don’t have time to do it yourself

People keep buying new cars as they get more and more complex and full of gadgets so manufacturers continue to milk the cow. Most people don't give a shit about technicians and mechanics and manufacturers don't either. If they could have robots carry out the work like in their factories for more profit, they'd be all too happy about it.

Max Hiltin it’s just for looks and maybe protection from a misguided owner who decides to get the pressure washer out to “freshen things up”. Such practices get water in nooks and crannies and wiring, etc. and could set up corrosion that will manifest in a few months or years. Ask me how I know that LOL. Use the garden hose and put a plastic bag over the alternator (and distributor, if the car has one) and clean the engine bay with a can or two of Gunk, and have the engine warm (NOT HOT). Let it soak for 5-10 min and rinse. You may have to repeat once or twice if really bad, but make sure the engine is warm. The Gunk works much better heated up. Maintain it with a roll of high quality paper or shop towels (cheap paper towels will tear up and leave pieces behind on everything), along with diluted Dawn in a spray bottle and a can of tire shine, rather than spraying with the hose. Unless you have an oil leak or go off-roading or hunt, it’s easy to maintain. Chrisfix has a video on super-cleaning the engine bay and it’s well worth a look.

@@hamanimohamed4506 The more you work the more you earn, that is being self employed if you work foe somebody else it's a different story, but when you pay all the stuff you end up keeping ends meet. Also you can make $5000 a month or more, but what's the use f the livingcosts, insurences an o ther stuff is high as well? You can have $600 and have better life than someone making 9000 in a country that is very expensive to live.

Its true, but if a mechanic designed the engine bay it wouldn't be anywhere near as effecient of an engine as it should be. Easy to work on, yes. Effecient and effective, no. Just like if you let a Navy Seal design a house, he would design it with clearing or fighting in mind, therefore it would probably not be a very functional or comfortable house.

you gotta remember that's $500 profit, the $300 you get quoted is probably mostly from the actual cost of the alternator, those things aren't cheap

yup, i did 12 hour shifts on the oil rigs and i had to eat or else i wouldnt make it past 3pm (6am to 6pm, 60 days straight) food is a huge part in working long hours it catches up to you in the long run. thats why a lot of them old skinny guys look all haggard and limping is cause of the shitty diet they ate.
