Thank you so much taking the time to make this video. All of your videos get me excited for retirement and a Zion next year, but this one also allows for more detailed planning (Irene: Thanks for calling out those measurements!). Also, if there's a prize to be had for best use of hooks and velcro, you're a shoo-in, Dave. I expect I'll be borrowing heavily from your ideas. Really appreciate it!

Thank you for this video, we must of watched it 5 times before we bought our SRT yesterday. We traded in a 40foot diesel bus for it and travel with 2 90 pound dogs 😮 nice to see how to pack a van and use all the space 👍🇨🇦

DANG thats a ton of gear. have you ever checked you van weight when fully loaded? WOW you guys are creative on storage. Glad I watched this BEFORE we get our van LOL. You should definitely make a list of all the gear you use, brand, type, etc. I'd like to know from the folks who use it and truly camp and adventure with it. You should get a roof rack. DANG cool video, thanks for showing this. I'm not as big of an outdoor person as you two, though we LOVE to hike. Getting older has slowed me WAY down with those outdoor activities, but we love where you camp and what you do. It is truly inspirational.

Kerry Shrode We did weigh it and we are close to recommended max weight. No more toys☹️😁 We’ll think abou a gear list, good idea. We’d like a roof rack but the roof is covered with solar that we can’t block. Next van I might have a rack installed and mount solar on top of it.

You guys are a cute couple, just found your channel. I so want to do what your doing. If you plan on doing things outdoors and in the wind, you need to get microphone wind covers. It will make a huge difference in the sound quality. They cost $6 to $20.

Great video....I especially enjoyed as we have similar gear to consider (same tent in fact). A couple of things; first welcome to Canada (or almost). As a a suggestion, start with Long Beach near Tofino-similar to the coast of Oregon but a real west coast feel, though a ferry trip is involved. Worth it I believe. Second, note that if you go to Banff or Jasper or both, that they about 4000 ft in elevation and near the end of August the evenings may get close to or a little bit below freezing. Nothing to worry about though. Enjoy and look forward to all the videos-and loved the axe, looked like something from a Viking's movie. One short question, we have narrowed our choices now to either the Zion or Zion SRT. Do you think the former would fit most parking spots OK. It seems like there are a lot more choices on the market now for the Zion, though the SRT looks like it would meet our needs as it does yours.

Gordon Ruth Thanks for being the first to welcome us to Canada! We are so excited to visit! And thank you very much for the tips. Info from people like you makes doing this worthwhile! Full size Zion or SRT..Such a personal and tough choice. With our bike rack we are more comfortable in a regular parking spot than if we had the full size. Aside from that with the full size most of the difference is a king bed instead of a queen. Our Boston terrier made the king tempting as she seems to extend to about 6 feet at night:) Most of the extra storage is under the bed so it didn't seem worth it for us so far. Hope this helps. If not let us know and thanks for watching!

Carey On Vagabond I forgot to mention that the best weather forecasts here in Canada come from Environment Canada ( weather.gc.ca/city/pages/bc-17_metric_e.html). You can select by City as needed and even has a 24 forecast if needed by the hour (not to be followed too closely). Hope this helps: my guess, you are close to the border by now. Enjoy wherever your route takes you!

Gordon Ruth Good guess!:) We drove into Canada this morning on Highway 97. Parked near Okanagan lake for the night. Thanks for the link! Weather is great so far! Even went for a swim:) We'll probably drive a little tomorrow but we'll wait until Monday to go into Banff. Thanks again for the info.

Great video! How did you mount the double stick Velcro in the bed area? We have a new-to-us 2007 Roadtrek and I am trying to figure how to mount the Velcro? I’m hesitant to use screws anywhere that there is not already a screw. Safe travels!
@CareyOnVagabond
@CareyOnVagabond 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you and congrats on the Roadtrek!!! Hope you have many safe happy miles full of adventures! I did use screws and was hesitant as well but I new the panel I was attaching them to was thick enough for some very short screws. They work great and there is little weight on them. They have lasted well over some very rough back roads. Keep us posted!

This is an amazing amount of stuff! You guys know what you are doing. I want to get a Zion SRT, but with the Simplicity bed and without powersteps. Roadtrek told me to contact a dealer because they may do it as a custom build. I am about a year out from ordering a Zion and wonder if you guys have the solar package and underhood generator and if so, is it worth it? Thank you!
@CareyOnVagabond
@CareyOnVagabond 6 жыл бұрын
Cinnamon Girl Thanks:) We would prefer a full time bed as well since we never make it into a couch. The power steps are nice but not needed. We love the solar package and under hood generator! Wouldn't go without after having it!

Another great video. We hope you enjoyed the eclipse. We currently travel full time in our 2013 Nissan Xterra and do house and pet sitting. We have been going to RV shows and considering getting one so your videos keep us informed and inspired. One issue we are dealing with is how to insure the contents of our vehicle since we carry everything we own in it. We can't get renters or homeowners insurance since we don't own or rent. Do you have any insight into this? Anyone else reading this is welcome to comment. Thanks, Dawn and Kelly. TravelsWithDawnAndKelly.com

Travels with Dawn and Kelly Thanks! We did enjoy the eclipse! It was absolutely epic. As far as insurance goes our RV is our only vehicle so we don't have typical car insurance. We just have RV insurance. The good RV insurance companies offer various amounts of personal property protection. There are a number of them that all offer a few different options depending on your needs. We have been recently comparing some of the better ones to ensure we have what works for us. Google best rv insurance companies and you can learn a lot! Hope this helps. Living and traveling in an xterra and house/pet sitting sounds like an awesome adventure! Thanks for watching!
