That's what I've been saying to all these casuals talking about how Castle is the prototypical Spurs player and that they are positive he's gonna go to the Spurs. He is a prototypical Spurs player, when we were drafting in the late first and second rounds. You don't waste the 4th pick on a defender that fouls a lot and can't shoot the 3. You use it to fill a need at the PG position. You use a high pick on a guy that shoots over 40% from deep, who averages 1.0 steals per game, hits his freethrows, and has pretty good court vision, all while coming off the bench. Not to mention his ability to drive and score in the paint reminds me a lot of TP9 and Irving. No question you grab the most electric scorer in the draft over a defender that you can find deeper or in FA. Just about every elite defender in the WCF right now was found after the lottery or went undrafted. That should tell all the casual spurs fans something. I think they are all stuck on finding Kawhi Leonard again, but Castle is definitely not Kawhi.

@@spursgoat84facts preach especially part about kawhi they think every draft player can develop shot like kawhi🤦‍♂️and this kid already being drama queen I'm a true pg and I only workout for teams with no starter 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️sounds alot kawhi and dejoute murray 2.0 drama written all over it again

@@ericperales4505 exactly. Attitude is a Spurs staple. Not 3 and d. Poor attitude is not the way to go with Spurs organization. I'm seeing rumblings about Spurs in the hunt for Markkanen. That would mean at least our #4 pick would be off the table.

@spursgoat84
@spursgoat84 Күн бұрын
@Akash_singh10 I've always questioned a lot of the new GM Brian Wright's moves, like investing in a player like Josh Primo when they knew about the complaints against him, and now this? Basically, drafting Bruce Bowen with the 4th pick? Then, trading away Dillingham for picks when Wemby is going to be 26?? If the idea is to stockpile assets for a huge trade, like the Knicks just did, then cool, but Spurs have never been that type of team that star players are itching to go to. You have to build through the draft. They basically drafted a guy who can't shoot 3s and spread the floor for Wemby in hopes that he becomes Kawhi Leonard or, at the very least, Bruce Bowen. If they are letting Champagnie go, then fine, but now you have to tell KJ, Branham, and Wesley that they aren't worth starting over a college freshman. That pill would have been a lot easier to swallow for a dynamic player like Dillingham, who is obviously a more superior playmaker and shooter over Wesley and Tre Jones, maybe even Branham.

No, the one player in this draft who can step in and start immediately is Tennessee’s small forward Dalton Knecht.
@spursgoat84
@spursgoat84 Ай бұрын
@@sarahmccoy1941 No, Dillingham is a starter. Knecht, at best, will be a role player coming off the bench depending where he goes. Especially if he goes to the Grizzlies. No way he's starting over Desmond Bane, GG Jackson, Luke Kenard, or even Marcus Smart at this point in his career. Yea, he could start on a very bad team that needs to fill a role at the SG/SF position. Don't get me wrong, Knecht has great skills, but he's not a game changer. Dillingham is.

@@Ashened0 He averaged a steal per game coming off the bench. It's not that he doesn't play defense. If you watched the Kentucky games you can tell. He actually was pretty decent at the POA. But he tends to ball watch sometimes. His scoring and ball handling abilities are off the charts! With all the hype Castle is getting about his great on ball defense, he couldn't even average a steal per game. Not to mention, Castle is more of a project. He can't shoot the deep ball at all. Dillingham shot over 44% from 3. Castle, less than 28%.

I like Knecht, but not with the 4th pick man. There is no reason to reach on a player like Knecht with the 4th overall pick. Maybe the 8th because of his skillset, but I'm not seeing him coming off the board for my Spurs. Who are we benching in favor of him? Keldon Johnson? Branham? Champagnie? Cissoko? At this point I'd rather hold onto Osman over him. They are basically the same player. I just don't see the Spurs drafting another wing with such a high pick. It's possible, with The Alien on our team, that we might never have this high of a pick for the next two decades. You can always draft a guy like him deeper in the draft of find one in FA over the next 2-3 seasons when we're finally ready for a deep playoff run. Don't buy into the ESPN hype that we need to get Wemby to the WCF next season. We gotta be smart with these two top 10 picks and not waste them.

very skilled but rob is going to have the exact SAME PROBLEM as players like cam thomas... That is being efficient enough offensively without being a burden defensively. A lot of his straight line drives are going to be much tougher against NBA shot blockers. He is much shorter too so his closeouts are going to have to be aggressive. If hes putting up 20+ on a bad team with bad defense -10 boxscore these type of flamethrower non playmaking guards can usually fall out of the league..
