This needs to be No 1 in the charts! Angels missed the top spot, first time around. One of the most poignant songs ever written and this is a beautiful orchestral rendition. Rob’s voice is so delicate in parts and robust in others. I’ve always loved his whispering vocals. One of his trademarks that makes his voice, instantly recognisable ❤️

Why does chart position matter. There have been a lot of great songs that didn't reach number one. Sure, topping the charts is great, but there are bands and artists that sustained a career without even landing on the charts in any position. This song went top ten in eight charts and top five in four. Some can't even crack to the top 40. Instead of worrying about chart position, just focus on liking the song.

Congratulations, Robbie! Your best version ever of Angels you sang was at your concert in my hometown. One fan showed a big sign with "please sing Angels for my mum and dad who both died". You showed us this sign and when you sang Angels, you started to cry and the entire stadium sang for you until the end. I will never forget ❤️

Often, 'sequels' don't live up to the original, but this is even more moving than the first cut. His voice is raw and vulnerable, and the orchestra adds such a poignancy.

@@ljones396 Nah this is a new version, though incredibly close to the original you can hear small differences. His voice has gotten a tiny bit lower, but this just shows when a singer take care of their vocal cords it can last. Plus Robbie is now an old hand at this, so yeah it is second nature for him.

The fact he can perform this song so well and in the original key a quarter of a century later goes to show that he is a real vocal talent and a great artist with a deservedly impactful career. He was wasted in Take That and it goes to show how industry heads often miss the true talent in groups because they're too busy looking at quick bucks and marketing tricks! Well done, Robbie! I think you need to collaborate with more international artists.

Besides pride, I think it's great that Robbie has chosen to work with perhaps the best orchestra you can find to give that little bit extra to many songs. Our own, Dutch Metropole Orchestra, is so flexible and so unique in terms of arrangements.

Beautiful remake. Awesome orchestra and arrangement by Jules Buckley. Haven’t been able to listen to this song for years as a wedding / Christmas party finisher but this version is phenomenal with so many layers. Nice one Robbie.
