This is where CBDC breaks down, the technology behind it would be enormously expensive and require thousands of IT personnel to create and run it. Government tech is about a decade or two behind what the private market does. Anyone that has worked tech for the government knows this. They are always the last to incorporate any technology in any sort of scale. It would require billions of dollars just to start out, along with a big reshuffling of how government operates. It's a government pipe dream.

Guys! In the province of Québec, Revenu Québec (the IRS equivalent) has mandated that ALL RESTAURANTS must have a Revenu Québec CASH REGISTER. So, this was must likely the test case for the central planners. Which means that the POS system that George is talking about would more than likely be in the form of IRS CASH REGISTERS or IRS POS machines mandated by law!!

The “bank” that’s a full reserve bank is an insurance company, which must have 1:1 funds. Properly structured whole life insurance policy use cash value for policy loans. Private contract. Secure and grows every year 4-5%

Very true, people downplay advisors role, until burnt by their mistakes. I remember just after my layoff early 2020 amidst covid outbreak, I needed to stay afloat, hence researched for license advisors. Thankfully, I came across someone of practical knowledge, and decades of experience, my stagnant reserve of $225K has yielded nearly $1m after subsequent investments so far

George you should stream the show for a fee for those of us that physically can't travel to Orlando or record the entire show, break it down into segments and allow people to watch each segment when convenient for a fee? The leverage for CBDC would most likely come from payment processors. Don't leverage the local merchant, leverage Visa and Mastercard. They will leverage the merchant and take any political hit. The other leverage is Federal payments. Offer Federal contracts, Federal salaries, Social Security, and welfare payments only in CBDC.

Barnes is great. He's only been wrong on really minor minute details (like saying Rumble is a private company when it's listed on the stock market as a public company), his overall take on things over the years has been quite astute.

You're right George, if the people don't step up and off load some responsibilities from the government, that loss of freedom is the outcome of not doing this, not gonna beat a dead horse, grateful I know better than this, I go for the heart, every time.

Detailed information is already being collected at the point of sale (think UPC barcodes) and is used for the store's rewards programs. The only piece that is missing is the infrastructure to send this data to other institutions such as the credit card companies or to the Federal Reserve. I do not know whether a standardized format for this data has been put in place to facilitate that. BTW This plan was being put into place way back in 1980 when I started my career at the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST). They had a brochure in the lobby touting the benefits of a cashless society.
