Versatile? He always does the same thing. In Oppenheimer we saw him different for one of the first times ever, but he was still RDJ, just without jokes. He never portrayed his role in a way that he was different than RDJ playing that role. The fact that I don't even remember the name of that character or the actions that defined the characters says a lot.

@@packedentertainment2866 Downey was in the midst of drug abuse in 1995, he wasn't cast for iron man until around 2007. It takes time to learn from your mistakes, something that Ezra and Amber haven't had yet to learn from theirs. Really bad examples to bring up when their aired out mistakes were fairly recent.

Robert is so good at expressing the emotions and thoughts of his characters without dialogues. He can pull the audience in the movies. His acting was spectacular in this movie, as the antagonist. His performance was magical in this movie, it couldn't have been better and no actor could have played this role better than Robert. Congrats on your win!!🎉❤

oh no, the movie industry knows he's insanely talented. His 1994 Oscar nomination for Chaplin is an example. His personal struggles were what held him back. Even when he made a comeback on TV with Ally McBeal, he got recognition. He's simply persevered and made the best of what he's been given, but no one's ever doubted that he can disappear into the roles that he plays.

Was at the Hard Rock Cafe in NYC many years ago and Robert Downey, Jr. was dining there with a woman. We were leaving when my niece spotted him and ran over to his table for an autograph. I apologized for the interruption and started yanking my niece away when he graciously handed her an autographed napkin. Super kind person.

We know he can do dramatic role, superhero role (and he is Tony Stark), comedic role and he can also sing. Let's not forget when he played Charlie Chaplin and he sang the song "Smile"....Less than Zero...what a role and what he did with that character so close to real life for him.

Downey is right about Oppenheimer being a masterpiece, the casting and scripting was brilliant but Nolan's directorial treatment and character development of one of the most impactful events in all human history was truly a groundbreaking cinematic experience. Another remarkable tale about the dangerous fusion of science and reason with greed and political power in a species destined for extinction by it's own hand.

He’s good in anything - The Nice Guys, Crazy Stupid Love, and Blade Runner 2049. But this is Robert’s year. He created the mcu. Oppenheimer was a masterpiece imo but even those who didn't enjoy it as much would have to admit that RDJ and Cillian Murphy gave breathtaking performances. I absolutely forgot I was watching a movie.

It was a well made movie. Yes, for sure. Masterpiece, it was not! Not by any standards. Masterpiece was Interstellar, Dunkirk and Inception of Nolan's. This doesn't even count as one of his best. Sorry, if you don't like what i said. Just my opinion. Downey did a fantastic job, Cillian, meh compared to some of his stellar performances in the past.
