Led Zeppelin in the 70s and more recently Robert Plant with Alison Krauss and with Band of Joy, Robert Plant is like a Chameleon keeps changing and can do every type of music and lend it total authenticity. Genius, Top Artist keep on pumping out these songs Robert. Thank You.

One of the classiest artists to ever come out of Rock & Roll. Had the foresight and wisdom to reinvent himself and remain relevant to generation after generation. I'm sure the temptation was great to go for the mega bucks Led Zep reunion tour (after their reunion for limited shows) but he walked away from that and into this timeless, oh so cool thing. You can surely feel the joy from this Band Of Joy.

Thank you Doc for posting this. May your years be many and happy...

Ah man what a lovely comment, I`ve been a fan since the age of 13 that`s 41 years now, and I know exactly what you mean, there is some amount of talent on the stage, fantastic bunch of musicians all of which are from the top shelf, and the new twist they gave some of the old Zeppelin tunes, made them sound as fresh as the day they were written, Music is for sharing so I`m glad you liked the gig, it was a good one, so if you have 8 minutes to spare there`s a couple of videos on my channel one I uploaded a couple of days ago called How Many Times, and the other When the circus comes to Town, just two Demos from our up coming album, but you`re a proper music head and I think you`ll like them too, Peace & love to you from Ireland brother man ✌💚☘

@@DocRockBaby I first started getting into Led Zeppelin when I was 13, as well. So I thought perhaps we're the same âge. Let's see... You said 41 years listening, so 41 + 13= 54. Tsk! Nope. I'm older! I bought my first Zeppelin album in '73. Then I *almost saw them in '75. Biggest disappointment in my life. Not Led Zeppelin! Never! No, the events that led to the *almost saw, rather than *did see. A verb tense shift that describes teen girl antics and big groupie plans that were snatched away from girly fingers before we even made it to the Edge Water Inn, the local hotel that housed the Zepplinish young men. Seriously. I still get frustrated and sad about it. I even had my ticket in my little fists. But it's a long story, and there's this fine music playing that I can't help but want to dance to. Thank you for posting this incredible show Doc!

@@darkmaitri from Nygel Miller. Hi darkmaitri! Kindred spirits, then ! How I personally sympathise with you about YOUR story, as only someone with a similar story can! Seeing Led Zeppelin didn't go wrong for me, I saw the at an exhibition hall called Alexandra Palace in North London.Used in the early days to be the headquarters for the B.B.C. (British Broadcasting Corporation). Because in the early days, when early transmitters weren't so powerful, they had to broadcast from there because they could reach further, because it's up on a hill! Bit of a legendary place! My tragedy story relates to a band I've been a fan of for even longer (Because they've been going for even longer), The Rolling Stones. I was a fan right from the start, and when they came to my home town, Wallington, (south London) , of course I was ecstatic! BUT on the big day, because I didn't feel that good, I didn't go - I didn't feel too good. I thought that would spoil it. I thought "oh, but the Stones are GOOD - they are bound to come back! But they never did! It wasn't just ME that thought they were good, and they took off like a rocket! They never played such small halls again! However, I did eventually see them at a big concert outdoors another time! I believe JEFF BECK also played in the same hall, in Wallington, my home town. I call him "The King Of Wallington", because we've never had someone famous from here before! My school art teacher used to mention Jeff Beck, ( I never met Jeff, who was a couple of years older than me, and left school before I went there). Our teacher said he rather hoped Jeff would go into the art world because he was good at that too! But he was pleased that Jeff Beck succeeded in music , since that's what he wanted to do! I thought that was a nice thing to say! So, anyway, don't think ANYBODY understands how you felt about missing a special concert. It may have taken a long time - but I DO! And I hope this eventually helps! Take care, and hope the rest of your life is abundant! Nygel.

He's also an award-winning songwriter. Wrote "Long Time Gone" that was a HUGE hit for the Dixie Chicks - and "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive" that Patti Loveless recorded. Along with his own albums, and collaborations with folks like Tim O'Brien. In his own sphere, he is just as much a legend as Plant.

Robert Plant is a musical genius. Highly intelligent too if you didn't already know. Love the hair! Now that's a different version of Black Dog to kick your gig off. Got to be good for you. Plants vocals have always been unique and no one...and I mean no one on this planet can get to the same heights of their vocal chords he has over his phenomenal career. I fell head over heels in love with Led Zeppelin ever since a friend introduced me to them/it around 1977 when I was 13 going on 14 here in New Zealand. I saw the Led Zeppelin movie 'The Sound Remains The Same' in a NZ cinema around the same time and fell in love with it too. I bought the double album LP 'The Song Remains The Same' and still have it in my collection - I always loved the center fold photos of the band members amongst it too. I then went on to buy 'The Song Remains The Same' movie on VHS - it was my very first video cassette. And then I moved on to Robert Plant's albums...'The Principle of Moments' '83 on cassette tape fav song 'Thru' with the Two Step', 'Now And Zen' '88 on cassette tape, fav song 'Tall Cool One', 'Manic Nirvana' '90 on cassette tape, fav song 'Tie Dye on the Highway' an excellent album love the opening track 'Hurting Kind' and track #8 'Your Ma Said You Cried in Your Sleep Last Night' too. I had my near-death motorcycle accident here in New Zealand in 1990 when I was 26, and ultimately I lost my entire left leg as high up as my hip and pelvis, plus I suffered several other serious internal injuries as well. Doctors & surgeons who saved my life believed my high fitness level helped considerably in saving my life - I was a successful local athlete at the time [road cycling, triathlon, and marathon running] I spent 3 weeks in the ICU of 2 hospitals and 101 days overall. Suffered chronic nerve pain neuromas around the stump pain even though there is no stump ever since and its controlled by cocktail of highest strength meds. Best medicine is exercise. I continued my sporting career as a complete left leg amputee. Became a champion NZ disabled swimmer won 7 gold 2 silver 1 bronze medals & set 5 NZ records in my S9 classification at 1993 NZ Disabled Sporting Championships. Completed 6 Half & 6 full Marathons on standard hospital issue aluminum elbow crutches on my one good right leg between 1991 and 1998 and set the World's Fastest Time for an A.K.A. [above knee amputee] over the Marathon using crutches on my one good right leg in the 1994 Christchurch Marathon, my time of 5 Hours 58 Minutes 13 Seconds remained unbeaten for 19 years and was beaten by an amputee who used hi-tech crutches with inbuilt shock absorbers - I call them 'doped crutches' lol [I use them today] that give an advantage over standard non-shock absorber crutches. However such extreme physical performance takes it toll and in 2010 I had my good right leg hip joint replaced due to severe arthritis. Today life is awesome thanks to music I use for both therapy [to relax] and general listening purposes. In 1988 I traveled to London from New Zealand on my O.E. [overseas experience] I was 25. I was fortunate to see Pink Floyd play at Wembley Stadium on Saturday August 6th '88. To this day it easily remains the best gig I have ever seen. If you would like to see pics I took at the gig please click here: www.flickr.com/photos/35707376@N00/29866632340/in/album-72157673246424191/

Good man Blackscorpion how's it going? A few years ago Robert Plant was voted best male rock vocalist of all time (and rightly so) his arrangements of the Zeppelin tunes with the band of joy are fantastic, (I added black dog & gallows pole to my house party set-list.....arranged in DADGAD tuning) His musical journey is never ending always surprising and never disappointing, one of my favourite projects he did was The Honeydrippers, (Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck) great album which gave him (as far as I know) his best selling single Sea of Love, if you have 5 minutes to spare check the other video on my channel...Ruby and the Pagan when the circus comes to town, it's myself and 2 mates (you might like it 👍) I've had a few motorcycle accidents in my youth but nowhere near as bad as the one you had, and for you to fight back and win medals and set records, holding a record for 19 years is absolutely amazing and I reckon you'd still hold it if "dope-crutches" 😂 hadn't been used....you are one strong inspirational man not only of body but of mind and spirit too.....peace and love to you from Ireland brother man ✌️❤️🇮🇪 keep on keeping on 😎

@@elizabethsue3431- It was supposed to be the follow up of the band of joy record with only Robert, Buddy Miller, and Marco Giovino. Unfortunately, since the announcement (which coincided with Digging Deep Subterranea), it's most likely been called off. On a separate note, the band that brought joy involved John Henry Bonham, who is no longer with us. Led Zeppelin died September 25th, 1980. Robert's on to bigger and better things nowadays. When musicians are as legendary as these - they meld themselves. He never even sang harmony 'til he met Ms. Krauss - so not likely he'd be coaching folks who've been singing harmony all their lives. Ditto with their playing. He doesn't play an instrument - all players up there are studio & sessions guys. They know how to make Music all by themselves. Darryl Scott is a prolific award-winning songwriter. But Plant brings Led Zeppelin notoriety to this production . . . That's about it . . .

@DocRockBaby2 жыл бұрын
Its one of my favorite gigs, great bunch of musicians, Ramble On is good but have to say I love the version of Black Dog they opened with, such a laid back groove they got going on that tune, glad you liked it, and if you have 5 minutes to spare check the video on my channel When the circus comes to Town, its a demo of the title track from our up coming album, you might like it.... peace and love to you from Ireland brother man...

Such a departure from Zeppelin. Plant takes a unique, creative, intelligent and fun approach to what has been done a zillion times before with 7 notes and some classics. That has always been the genius in Robert Plant👍👍👍🧡
@DocRockBaby2 жыл бұрын
Yes indeed 7 notes and some classics, you know your stuff Sir wouldn`t surprise me if you are a musician yourself 😎 I also think part of his genius is knowing which musicians will work best for any given project and what a great bunch of musicians they are as I`m sure you are well aware of who each of them are, Its one of my favorite gigs and that new twist they gave the old Zeppelin tunes? I think they sound great, glad you liked it, not sure if you searched for it or if you found it on my channel but if you have 5 minutes to spare there`s a couple of videos on my channel "How Many Times" & "When the circus comes to Town" just a couple of Demo`s from our up coming album, and sure you never know you might like them too, peace & love to you from Ireland brother man ✌💚☘

@@DocRockBaby actually…I got interested in Allison and her doing work with plant was like the cherry on top…..plant and zeppelin being my all time favourites and Krause being a new thing for me was sorta the meeting of intended spirits …. I could relate with them …. And I’m a wanted to be musician….ha ha but that’s okay Peace and love and blessings to you too my friend 👍

@@raffaelesuppa4255 You have excellent taste in music Mr. Suppa Sir, Allison Krause is absolutely fantastic and as for her band, Union Station....not only are they a joy to listen to they`re a pleasure to watch, DVD is as close as I`ll get to seeing them live I reckon, and as for a "wanted to be" musician brother man its never too late to learn a couple of chords 😎👍 I love how music connects people, it was very nice chatting with you Sir, you are a proper music head, peace & love to you from Ireland ✌💚☘

I got to see The Band of Joy several years ago in Pittsburgh (Pitt University) ... it was such a great experience to know RP is still out there & going strong. I have seen him several times since this tour ... he gets better every time. He said he has no plans to retire ... God bless RP! 💀
@DocRockBaby2 жыл бұрын
You`re a lucky man to have seen him live, and God bless him is right, I don`t think musicians retire, I`m 54 and just starting my first album lol, and as George Bernard Shaw once said....We don`t stop playing because we grow old....We grow old because we stop playing....if you have a few minutes to spare have a look at the two videos on my channel, How Many Times and/or When the circus comes to Town, you might just like them, thanks a million brother man, peace & love to you from Ireland ✌💚☘

As good and as renowned and as legendary as Robert Plant is - he is a lucky, lucky man to have got Darrell Scott in his band. Scott is legendary, himself - as a songwriter, singer, multi-instrumentalist. I would have gone to see the Band of Joy - simply because of Scott's presence. Sure do wish the posters of these concert vids would post the names of the musicians/singers on-stage.

Many thanks for posting this, although I am late to the party! Big Led Zeppelin fan and was lucky to see them several times but the best was Knebworth in 1979. Phenomenal atmosphere and other great bands too but just an amazing top of the bill ! Interesting to listen here and still hear some of the same great tones to Robert’s voice. A privilege to have seen them all together and a joy to have come across this. Some brilliant musicians with him here tonight who I will now look to hear more of. Thanks again for posting and reminding me of my departed youth!😅😅👏👏👏

deep roots, Planty. he gives a (reworked) cameo 1:06:28 to "Come All Ye" roving minstrels, written and sung by Sandy Denny when she was with Fairport Convention. Sandy sang with Planty on Led Zep's "Battle of Evermore"; the only guest vocalist on any LZ song. Way cool.
