It wouldnt be a robert rants without rob silently raging as he holds himself back from screaming into the void as a result of the mental anguish of discovering RAW

Ha, that's good! Maybe we should make cure wounds illusion and fireball abjuration? Oh, and Maximilian's Earthen Grasp? Necromancy for sure, which is why I'll never use it. Necromancy. Not even once. 😂

Dart board method is tried and true. Just ask the writers of Battlestar Galactica, it's how they picked who was a Cylon.

Rob! You need to make your own D&D rule book and spells! It would be cool to see what you can conjure up! But also I know it would take a ton of time to do 😢

Maybe with message, you're transmuting your words into the target's thoughts, and with sending you're evoking your thoughts in the target's brain... ... Or something.

Have you thought about "Sending" WOTC a "Message"?

Your transmutation their brain to get your message and send a reply, and in the other your evocating a message in their consciousness

Message clearly works by transmuting the air in the receiver's ear into small dense pockets that then expand out in the exact frequencies needed to constitute the message you're speaking. Sending must then incite electrical activity in the recipient's brain to cause them to perceive your voice. Could, then, enough casters casting Sending on a person at the same time cause the target to have a seizure?
@popplars964Ай бұрын
sending should need a long piece of copper wire as opposed to a short piece. Message being the "smaller" version is like when you're a kid and tie cans to a wire and talk that way, but then message should be like a phone line lol

Divination seems like reading someone' elses mind or receiving a message from a god. Message seems like bundling up a little sound wave and sending it short distances across the winds. The 3rd level one seems like closing your eyes, focusing really hard on the universe, finding a target, linking with them telepathically and opening up a private channel. These all seem very different to me. But I still find your rants hilarious! 😂

Maybe thats exactly what they do

It would make sense of they were at least both the same, but i feel like ot could be either evocation or divination. Although i would assume thay divination is more about forcing information while these to spells are about sending information.

Hey Rob, maybe they need a new dart board? I’m sure if I thought very hard I could come up with a plausible reason. But I’m not going to 🤭 P.S. (I don’t think you saw this last time I posted). I’ve heard you use the name “Gareth” as a name for an NPC a few times now. Is it the same sad sack each time, is it a common name, or an Easter Egg? Inquiring minds want to know. 🧐
@RobertHartleyGMАй бұрын
Gareth is just one of my go-to names, I guess. When else did I use it aside from Gareth Digbury?
@nettezcrazyАй бұрын
@@RobertHartleyGM is Gareth Digbury the squire from episode 6 in NPC D&D? I’m watching the show again from the 1st episode. I’ve watched it through twice already and am taking notes. I’m doing the same with The Misfits; in episode 6 the guy with the bloody nose introduced himself as Gareth. There was another time, but I haven’t got through there yet.
@nettezcrazyАй бұрын
@RobertHartleyGM I remember another time was episode 31. He was a villager.

Message was invented by the arcanist Xanad (the dude who invented the power word spells), while Sending was invneted by Enollar. These two spell only related like a salmon and a whale.

...Except for the fact they both do practically exactly the same thing over slightly larger range.
@botondpiros2824Ай бұрын
@@RobertHartleyGM Arcanists works in mysterius ways. These spells were always evoation and transmutation. So it is definetly not a 5e mistake. Otherwise of course you are right.

I played a game once where we were asked to enchant some bracers and we wanted sending but asked for message. I'm sure the DM will know what we meant tho, right? RIGHT!?
@RobertHartleyGMАй бұрын
Depends on your DM. I'm sure most reasonable DMs wouldn't do a sort of 'gotcha' moment against you if the mistake was legitimate. Most nice DMs anyway. If your DM is a troll though, all bets are off...
@soulsymphony5111Ай бұрын
Cuz sending is like transmitting, hence transmutation..... again..please ignore me ..never played D&D in my life
@CrudzMcKenzieАй бұрын
I can understand why they would put these spells under evocation, but transmutation? That's absolute nonsense. What is being transformed?
@WanderingSkullkidАй бұрын
I can actually understand transmutation OR conjuration. Its definitely not divination. You are not divining anything. You are sending information and receiving it back. A divination should be more prophetic. You’re either transmuting your thoughts into a telepathic message, or you are conjuring a telepathic link between the two of you. I agree it should be one or the other, but cant say I agree with using divination at all.

i love dnd ... hate 5e so far, why do the players pick a class and then a focus at a higher level? so much magic removed, and Psionic's is a Focus role for some jobs for the most part ... also why does it feel like the same rules as the red box set from the 70's/80's ...
