DemocracyNow.org - Former Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich, critiques President Obama's handling of the economic crisis and the Clinton administration's repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act, a key deregulatory move that ended the separation of commercial and investment banking and is widely seen as helping lead to the financial collapse. The Clinton administration also presided over a drastic transformation of U.S. welfare laws, throwing millions off of welfare rolls. Reich is professor of public policy at the University of California at Berkeley. He has written 13 books, including "Aftershock: The Next Economy and America's Future." His latest is an e-book is just out, "Beyond Outrage: What has gone wrong with our economy and our democracy, and how to fix it."

As labor secretary, what was RR's role, or thoughts of, Bill Clinton's worse policies (13:47) -- Glass-Steagall (12:10), NAFTA, telecommunications act, etc ?

I wish Reich wouldn't take the high road so much and call out the Rubin gang and Obama for what they have done. It would be a major help at this point.

It will all come to an end, when they insight the working class and poor as the majority get sick of being abused enough and insight a new type of revolution into the world. We seem to go through these thing time and time again, and yet to fail to learn from it. I know for me it gets harder and harder to become a productive person in this society due to the abuse I have received as a laborer over the many years i have worked and saw and seen the abuse first hand, yet most of them accept it yet.

Watching this 10 years later makes me realize how dizzyingly close we came to seeing Reich's prophecy fulfilled, and I believe things will get worse before they start to get better.

The common people seem to still want to fight for their abusers as if the rich and employers give them some type of power by forcing them to work for nothing while the employers/rich get all the reward for no work at all. Someday I hope the people figure out it is they who Labor that produce and make the wealth not our employers/rich/stock market. Those 3 things only live off the rest of us that work with our minds, and hands to create things from the land.
