Nobody wants to let anything bad happen in sports but most of the time you don’t have a choice. How many people actually retire on top playing at an elite level? There aren’t many people who do that. Most people retire because they can’t do it anymore. Do you honestly think Kobe wanted to go out like he did? No. His body couldn’t take it anymore. Aaron Rodgers is about to be 40 and suffered an achilles tear. He’s done.

Acho is right. Brady playing like a thirty-year-old past forty makes us think that it is the new normal, but the old standard still applies, great QBs usually fall off a cliff, as Max Kellerman says, at around forty, regardless of how brilliant of a football mind they possess, just remember Peyton Manning's last season

Peyton had a neck injury tho, which affected his arm strength. His injury is completely different than Rodgers’ injury. Aaron Rodgers still has great football left
@mca217
@mca217 11 ай бұрын
You generate throwing power from your legs initially. That's why great QBs spend so much time refining their footwork. Your base is essential to throwing accurately. Everyone who's rehabilitated from a torn Achilles say that you lose so much lower body strength. That will negatively effect his throw power and velocity.

It's all about the O-Line. People say that the most important position in the NFL is the quarterback position. Which is true to an extent. But you could argue that the O-Line is. If the jets can somehow master their O-Line to the way colts, lions, packers and cowboys have it then I do believe that Rodgers can play well into his 40s; even coming off an Achilles injury. Every year that Rodgers has won his MVP's he's had a top 10 O-Line in the league. That's very important. Brady won super bowls with great offensive lineman, including his last one with the buccaneers. Jets don't need MVP Rodgers anymore. They just need a healthy and capable A-Rod. But it starts with the big boys up front protecting him.

The guys are speaking with there hearts and not with logic and they can believe hes gonna come back and he might but you also got to entertain the fact he might not and just not completely dismiss it. Right now its fresh he himself might still really want to do the rehab and then come back but as there process goes on and its a bad injury and even if you can come back you probably wont be the player you was post injury and at nearly 41 years old the time next season rolls around its just alot of factors he himself has to consider so it wont be this shocking thing if he does call it a day

Let’s stop playing checkers and play chess . If the Jets are smart enough and think about the actual goal of getting to the Super Bowl . Let’s begin with fixing the O-Line because that o-line is more than bad it might be worst than worst . Let’s not call it tanking but let’s call it a way to get the best possible pick . Draft the best -Oline that’s possible . Make some free agent o line signing that’ll put you in a position to when Rodgers gets back he avoids this situation.

Such a casual take. The Jets have a good OL except for Duane Brown. Everybody else is good. Alijah Vera-Tucker and Mekhi Becton have both been outstanding everytime they touch the field. Theres a reason they were running all over the Bills, the OL was demolishing the Bills.

I do not think some people are factoring in the severity of an Achilles. The rehab part will take time, and what if Aaron Rodgers has a setback? All of that at the age of 40 is alot. James Jones and LeSean McCoy brought up the Jets defense, and running game, but we all do not know how the roster would look next season. We have to factor in what if a player or players get traded, and then factor in free agency. All those things can cause the roster to look different next season.

Surprised no one made the 2015-16 Broncos argument. That year they won with a gama manager Peyton coming off a nasty neck injury. Rodgers takes care of his body and that’s why we’ll see him again next season. 39 is just a number. Blame the turf not him. The reason why he was so bad in Green Bay was because he lost the motivation to play for them and wanted a new environment. I can see him playing well into his mid 40s

39 isnt just a number in football. Thats why they made a big deal of brady playin well up until 44-45. Only handful of guys play until there mid-late thirties let alone mid 40s. Add a serious achillies injury on top of that

How many of you have had an achilles injury before? Like a handful? Not saying I agree, but I understand Joy's point. There's a lot that goes into recovering from it. Even once the physical part is done you've gotta trust your body again. Yeah, it's harder for RBs, but Rodgers still gotta plant and throw. Body mechanics, etc. If he can't do that with confidence, his level of play will decrease potentially in a big way. I'm not saying AR not coming back, but it won't be easy and people need to stop treating it like it is. I pray AR comes back. I don't wish this on anyone, but if he doesn't I wouldn't be "shocked." I'd say he decided that for various VALID reasons not to-- and that's fine. It's not a hot take, just not the one people wanna hear, especially when talking about one of the greatest to ever do it.

It's not about his skill set, everyone knows what he can do with a football in his hands. It's about the injury that it is and his age. If he were younger it would be different, he's 39. What she said isn't stupid at all it's realistic. Cause even at a young age this is the type of injury that ends careers.

Skill has nothing to do with it. This injury takes a year to come back from even for young guys. He's cooked. People are just in denial. He was stupid to keep trying to play at his age.

"Whose winning the Super Bowl with an average quarterback?" Joy asking this question like it's never been done before. Is anyone going to argue that Joe Flacco was an above average quarterback? Did Joe Flacco have do play out of his mind to get a ring or did he sit back and make a couple of plays here and there that were enough to give that tremendous Raven's defense a chance to win them the game?
