Robert Smith of the Cure on "This Old House"

This skit is from Mtv's Half Hour Comedy Hour, a stand-up comedy and sketch show that Mtv used to have around 1990. At first I suspected that the actor playing Robert Smith may have been Mtv VJ Kevin Seal, but I've been told that it's actually Bruce Leddy (complete with his real hair), the writer and director of Half Hour Comedy Hour at the time, with the builder having been played by writer Vern Mackall. (Thanks to yamhead2 for the Leddy/Mackall info!)

Robert Smith was played by Bruce Leddy who was the writer/director of MTV's Half Hour Comedy Hour at the time. That was his real hair, teased up and sprayed black. The sketch was completely ad-libbed with another writer Vern Mackall who plays the builder guy.

@jhchouston, I typically disable the ratings by default whenever I upload a video, mainly because at some point my account was being hit by somebody with a script or something that voted thumbs-down (or as it was back when I uploaded this, "1 star") to things I'd upload, hundreds of times. But thank you anyway! Glad you enjoyed the clip.

For people trying to comment on this video, and not seeing their comments come through: sorry, but I have no idea what's going on! I get the notices, but then I don't see the comments here nor do I see them available in my "waiting for approval" feed. I appreciate the comments and I'm not trying to block everybody, I swear!
